Well, I guess you could say it helped along things "a little" but the discomfort from all that gas and bloatiness made me feel ten times worse. If it had been just a few wafers or just a brownie it might not have been so awful. If I could stop at just a little of one thing I think I could eat just about anything I wanted but then if I hadn't those issues with portion control I doubt I would've even had the weight problems to begin with. It could very well be I'm not eating enough through the day but my biggest problem is just wanting to eat because it feels good to me, especially if it was something that tasted really great at the time. Then, I just want to keep eating even if I am so full I am getting uncomfortable. I've realized lately how much of an emotional eater I am though because the stress level in our family is through the roof right now! ![]() |

Faith - When stressed I could go either way, eat alot or not eat at all! I will say that working out has really helped with that.... you have to do something for you- right! Before you get into eating it because it makes you feel better, start to think how you really think about it, it will make you uncomfortable, you'll feel worse later, etc... doesn't always work, but it's worth a try.
I actually like SF butterscotch candies, but yes, I know I can have too many! LOL Self-limiting! Don't worry - we'll both get to where we want to be! Did you get a list of things to do? Organize a drawer when you feel the need to eat when you are not hungry, jump on the treadmill for 10 minutes, use mouthwash, brush your teeth, grab the kids and play a game, clean out your clothes closet, etc... I just put together a list of things for myself. Hang in there sweetie! How are you today!

Tracey! I know you're not gonna like this but I have already tried that brand of therapy, LOL! And thinking ahead about how crappy I'm gonna feel afterwards doesn't work for me. I only rationalize it away because it is like this fix that I want so desperately I cannot seem to turn those voices off until I get it. Now, is that the sign of a true sugar addict or what! Things didn't used to be that bad...And another thing you aren't gonna want to hear, LOL: Cleaning out my dresser isn't incentive enough for me to stay out of the kitchen. It's like, "What's it tonight, Faith? Stuff your face with something yummy or go clean the disaster that is your drawer?!" I spend the day cleaning and the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is sift through the tidal wave in there. For me it's got to be fun (and playing games with the kids isn't always fun...guess ya just gotta be here DD and I did just finish a jigsaw last night and the little ones did come up once in awhile so they too had a hand in it, which was really nice.It really has seemed to help by moving my main workouts to evenings. I'm never hungry immediately afterwards so if I time it just right, then it's simply just workout--shower--wind down--bed. I had to take the last two nights off though because for the last week and a half I've been working out pretty intensely and was afraid I might be starting to overdo it. A couple of days I did 2 big workouts and that about did me in, because like a nut, I obviously don't know how to pace myself! But the last 2 nights it was all I could do to keep caught up with the house and the kids because I was so exhausted.Last edited by FaithM. : 10-26-2007 at 08:56 AM. |

hey faith.....how's it goin, are you doing induction or are you just tryin to eat healthy? i have actually been carb cycling for the last few weeks and it boosted me i was a 70 pound stand still and my goal was really to lose 100+....oh ya babe i wanted to get to the big one i am determined but due to the face that it is practiclly nov, and my goal was jan.19.... i have come to accept the fact that it might not happen, but hey i am gonna take the 70 or 80 or 90 pound victory and own that moment!!
It is ok if sometimes we dont achive our goals, but what's not ok is to not set achivable goals....sounds ironic i know...point of the story my dear we all need to look forward to someting great, but we need to not beat our self-, if for some reason we dont make it, we have not failed becase failing is to have never of dreamed!!! |

Hey Nic!
I've just been trying to eat plenty. You could say I am doing Induction, or a version of it, except mine isn't near as strict. I haven't cut out any of the sweeteners as I probably should. I think they are probably doing me more harm than good as far as sticking to plan because I never actually lose that taste for sweet, so that is hindering me to a point, I am sure! However, I rationalize it because the way I feel is I have given up so many of my favorites and there aren't many things left as far as legal LC goes. Most of my faves are processed (cheese, sausages, pork skins...) and I know I'm better off without those things. It is just that the more I feel I have to give up, the harder it is for me to love LCing the way I used to.I like the concept of Carb Cycling! You may be a little disappointed about possibly not reaching your initial goal...and Girl, I know you know that I know how that feels! However, I can totally agree with you that we should take every success, big or small because we deserve it! See...I am good with saying it aloud but I am working hard at convincing myself, for me, that every little step in the right direction is still a positive. Can I get it drilled into my head for once! ![]() Last edited by FaithM. : 10-29-2007 at 09:05 AM. |

although I must say all those Taubes' discussions in the ML about exercise has me rationalizing the whole bit. This was not a good time for me to hear that working out (or at least in excess) does no particular good for weight loss! All these "do-don't-do" findings have seriously got me ![]() I do think if working out keeps me out of the kitchen at night then that has to be a beneficial thing. Let me know how it works out for you! ![]() Quote:
This is the third day I have felt in total control, admittedly back to cal restriction though. Until I get completely back into the wonderful state of ketosis this is what I feel I need. All those legal options out there tend to overwhelm me and I easily overdo them. Don't worry, I won't starve myself. Promise! ![]() Last edited by FaithM. : 10-30-2007 at 08:18 PM. |

Eehh I'll have to do the rest of my catching up in the morning. The DVR is chock full of shows and DD is waiting on me to watch a couple of them with her. The Spelling Bee, she tells me, is a Halloween one. Then I have all those spooky programs from TLC, History Channel, and the like.
I've got plenty of scary stuff to keep me shivering all night long! ![]() |

I may not always be full of wisdom nor know the right things to say but I will be here for an ear or a shoulder if you need somebody just to listen! Now for the exercise part that takes a little more effort and I feel like being stubborn this morning! Heck, it isn't as if I don't enjoy it somewhat or feel better afterwards but gosh those Taubes' articles are messing with my rationale. I need to just shut up and get moving I guess! ![]() |

Hey, guess what?! NO candy, period, yesterday!
I wasn't even tempted all that much. There might have been a moment or two while passing out the candy and when the kids got home with their buckets loaded with candy, that I felt a little wistful...BUT that was more the habit and tradition of eating it on my mind rather than any wavering on my part. I WILL NOT dig into their stash the entire month! That is my ultimate goal besides being cheat free until Thanksgiving...On Thanksgiving I AM going to allow myself my favorites! Not justifying flying off the deep end and bingeing but just allowing myself to enjoy the occasion. It was around Thanksgiving last year I started slipping. I don't want to give myself the guilt of being human and enjoying something that is made only once a year. I feel that is where I started going wrong. Not that I actually ate a thing or two here and there. Well, I passed up most of my favorites and spent the rest of the year harping on it. Silly that sounds, I know. Now I just have to remind myself that Thanksgiving is only one day! Christmas is only one day...NOT the entire month of November and December! ![]() Last edited by FaithM. : 11-01-2007 at 07:19 AM. |

Yeah Faith!!!
I think it is just a Habit too ... but for me there are only 2 or 3 kinds of candies I like that the kids don't ... so a couple here and there are all I get and I will NOT buy them during the rest of the year... ![]() Thanksgiving ... yep - most of your favorites are probably "good" foods anyhoo, so Celebrate the way it's meant to be - Thankful for the life we've been given, for our families, for the wonderful foods. Just try eating your meat/veggies first, then you'll be too full to go overboard on the delectible treats... Ohhhh - my other favorite thing ... the afternoon walk to get the digestion moving ... ![]() Ching Ching - Here's to having a productive healthy November ![]()

I will have to remember that...the veggies and other good stuff first. I will have to fight the urge to keep going past the point of comfort and that will be the real challenge because regardless of how full I am I always can "make" room for the bad stuff. Is there any hope of ever getting past that! ![]() |

You are a stronger woman than me.I did not eat any candy, but I was not around any candy so that helps. If I had been passing out the candy most of it would have fell into my mouth(oops).....I agree with you on the Thangsgiving thing.I also plan on eating resonably(is that a word) on that day. Now about the Taubes thing. This is one of the reasons that i can't go into certain boards in the ML.The thing is next year there will be another "BIG BOOK" saying that exercise is great, eggs are great, purple is the new green..blah,blah,blah. We REALLY have to find what works for us.All of those books,studies,diets..WILL drive us CRAZY.I think that exercise helps me to control my sugar cravings. It may not help me lose weight, but it helps me to stay away from the food that causes me to be fat,by controlling my stress levels. It also helps us to look good NAKED ![]() Last edited by beautifulme : 11-01-2007 at 11:50 AM. Believe it or not but I rarely let myself enjoy it anymore. When I was on my way down and headed to my low weight of 159 I started buying new clothes and putting on makeup more. That was nice. Since I've been on this down and out spiral I have not treated myself kindly. It sounds senseless but when you're falling hard it is near impossible to think rationally. I still need some work on changing my mentality here because I know how screwed up it is. I realized the other day that, despite the 40 lb gain, I have kept off exactly 100 lbs. for an entire year (as of September)! It has helped me a bit to put things like that into perspective.Taubes: Oh yeah! I haven't even gotten the book yet. Do I wanna? Too much more info on nutrition and exercise may cause my head to explode! Ok, so a calorie doesn't equal a calorie, I knew that. Now, hearing that calories in does not equal calories out takes it way out there for me. The day I read that I still went out and rode my bike a couple of miles but the entire time I was thinking, "how necessary is this?" I was driving myself crazy! And I haven't made myself do anything since because it isn't going to melt a quick lb or two off of me! *shakes head* When I came back to my senses and thought about it: okay, if I am jogging on the TM instead of attacking the fridge then that IS helping me lose weight by not bingeing. Now smack me here but I still am having trouble grasping the idea that by dripping sweat for 35 minutes I didn't melt just an ounce of fat from my body?! ![]() I think my real problem is thinking too much, lol! I've got a thinking problem! ![]() Last edited by FaithM. : 11-01-2007 at 12:56 PM. |

We all have that thinking too much problem! LOL You are right! If you are spending 35 minutes on the TM, you are not attacking the fridge! Keep up those distractions...don't worry it takes time... How are you doing today? |
