Barb's 'making it after all' diary

Been low carbing for a while and it really stabilized my weight, but for a little 'girl' (girl? yeah, right!) like me, it's time I got a jump start on getting down to 110# where I belong. I've started a water fast today and will continue this for 10 days, until April 11. I'm calling my starting weight 155 even though I haven't weighed myself since Friday and I've eaten everything in site because I knew I was going on a fast. Ummm....I think this is called bingeing, which is just another food issue I need to tame.

My fasting program will consist of exercise and a self perscribed amount of water. I'll work out the details within the next 24 hours. I'll be coming off the fast in 10 days (6pm, 4/11) and restart for another 8 days (4/14 - 4/22) after a 3 day break. My goal is to have lost 20# while fasting, reaching a weight of 135# by 4/22.

I'll develop plans to reach my ultimate goal of 110# following a short vacation from 4/24 to 4/30.

I stuck to my plan until I got back from teaching my late afternoon fitness class. I just didn't have the time or energy to add one more high energy workout to my day. I wanted to spend time with Astrid (working on her agility tricks), I fed her a little more for dinner because she didn't eat a bite this morning just so she coud sit by the windows just in case her daddy came home. Then, after fiften minutes in her side yard, I took her for a little 10 minute rid in the car which she thought was great. When she came inside, she had an 'extreme kong' waiting for her, so I guess all in all, she had a good evening, especially after she got to talk to her dad on the 'bone phone' tonight.

This thread is really supposed to be about me and my diet progress, though. Well, I'm up 27.5 hours of fasting. I did do pilates and yoga this morning and my circuit weight workout at noon, so I'm a little too tired to declare my fast easy or difficult at this time. Tommor should be better test.

I haven't added to my journal in a few days. All is well with my fast except Wednesday was very, very hard. With the three fitness classes I taught and then doing a 'walk away the pounds' workout in the gym, I felt like something a cat would drag in on Wednesday. Tuesday was a great day, Thursday I was still tired, Friday was good but Wednesday was really horrible. I even allowed myself a little plain yogurt that evening. I probably am not drinking enough water but I'll try harder. This morning I'm down under that dreaded 150 mark and more than half way to my goal of completing a full 10 day fast. Yesterday I did an aerobic workout for 40 minutes and will try to make that 80minutes today. I slipped on my size 8 green cargo pants last night (the ones I'd LOVE to wear when I visit my sister this month) and they are looking better! Focus, focus, focus!

Today's goals: 1) A 'clean' fast 2) 80 minutes of cardio 3) 20 minutes of pilates and yoga

Came off of my fast just a few days early...Sunday, 4/8 instead of 4/11. It was a good experience, I learned a lot about fasting and I will give it another go this coming week, Thursday through Saturday, a 3 day fast. I got my weight down below the dreaded 150# mark to 148.75. It would be nice to get it down to 146 by next Thursday and then see how if I can get it to my first goal of 143 by Sunday when I come off my fast. I have learned that I DON"T have to let food control me, I won't die if I don't eat, and a slight 'bump in the road (i.e.; cheat with a little yogurt) does not spell failure as long as I don't let it turn into a binge, but instead just keep right on going with my fast.
