KarenJeanne's Journal

I was on Atkins for 6 years. I stayed at 20 carbs or less per day for that whole time. I managed to lose about 8 pounds lol doesnt sound like much but I only wanted to lose 10 or 15. I had radiation treatment to 'kill' my thyroid due to graves and I know I have to always be on some sort of plan or I will balloon fast. I have a huge appetite - always have. Sweets are a biggie... I could never eat a doughnut without eating the whole box... that sort of thing. I went off the plan about 6 or so months ago and after gaining the 8 pounds back instead of losing (I was trying low fat, low cal... still no sugar) I realized I have to come back to Atkins. I'm 5'5" tall and weigh about 140. While weighing 125 would blow my mind, 130 would satisfy me. Boy do I struggle with the plan. I am strict with myself but every time I think I've found something I can eat, I hear it may be what is stalling me from sugarless jello, to too many artificial sweeteners in one day. I never drank alcohol when I was on the plan before, however I find myself drinking bacardi and diet coke fairly frequently these days. I'm sure its no help but its hard to say goodbye to everything.
Let's see what did I have today:
Breakfast: cup of coffee with sugar twin & cream, scrummy oatmeal made with 3 tbsp text soy prot + 3 tbsp ground flax seed... cinnamon... cream... splenda

lunch: can of tuna with mayo & a bowl of sugarless jello

snack: half a bag of pork rinds (yuck! and how about salty!)

Supper: 2 chicken legs, 2 chicken thighs with zero carb buffalo wing sauce Usually I have a cup or two of cooked caulif. or brocc. but I just didnt feel like it tonight.

2 bacardi & diet cokes

right now I'm eating some melted unsweetened bakers chocolate with cream and splenda mixed in...*sigh* desperate for a sugar fix

feeling bloated out of my clothes... done week one and clothes feel much tighter rather than looser........

I've drank so much water tonight I think I will burst! Must be the darned pork rinds. I don't think they will be on the shopping list again. Way too salty for me.

I wonder if I will ever be able to drop my 10 lbs. It doesnt sound like much but jeez it just won't go away. Thyroid problems are so stubborn. I wish I could eat like a normal person and not have to worry about this stuff all the time. I'm discouraged today I think.

Hang In There

Don't be discouraged, hang in there! It definitely gets frustrating some days but you're trying and keep doing your best. The reward is sweet!

I started having this induction frozen pudding dessert (HUGE sweet tooth) and I liked it so much that I have to cut it out for now because I can seriously eat the whole batch in one swoop. AND I'm a bread lover so this is hard especially when my husband is eating awesomely toasted buttered bread at every meal.

You can do it!!!

that is my problem also... amounts! If I make something I have to eat the whole batch! Even if it is low carb and sugarless! Its not that I'm hooked on sugar... I'm just a little piggie I think! LOL I love food and I don't get full. I'm an odd duck that way... even when my stomach is upset or I have a stomach bug... I NEVER lose my appetite.

One thing I will say about this plan... I went on it when I quit smoking... part of a whole 'get healthier' plan rather than just focusing on the cigarettes... and I didn't gain any weight! Smoke free since 2001...

Great... I didnt realize unsweetened bakers chocolate had a bunch of carbs in it. Honestly... another unintentional cheat. I thought I saw bakers choc in several recipes... I looked it up on fitday though... ouch! Threw out the rest of my mixture of melted bakers unsw. choc mixed w/splenda. Dang.

Wednesday: skipped breakfast... discouraged by the scale. Drinking my water and counting the minutes till lunch. I brought some tuna with mayo for lunch and some leftover chicken with one slice of cheddar cheese in case I'm hungry again around 3, which I usually am.

3:30 pm one marble cheese stick and a hard boiled egg. Lots of water throughout the day

7 pm waiting for supper to be ready, knuckled under and had a handful of macadamia nuts. Probably shouldnt during induction... but its better than a bag of chips right??

Supper is going to be fish on the barbecue and some green beans w/mrs dash.
having a glass of dry white wine. another no no ... had a super stressful day at work. Supervisor is such a capital B that I swear to God had she come close enough to myself or the receptionist one of us would have throttled her with our bare hands. *sigh* Life goes on ....

I'm getting the impression I'm talking to myself here. I post in many threads but it seems that few people ever respond to me.... am I doing something wrong here?

Not cheatingon my woe though regardless of the emotional stress... still using the eloo, I think it make have worked was down 3 today. I often do that on weekends though because I'm doing heavy housework and forgetting to eat unlike sitting at a desk all week at work. Hopefully its a trend in the right direction. Love the revolution rolls!
Supper tonight was pork roast, green beans with garlic & herb mrs dash and a revolution roll with butter. YUMMY
