Anja's journal

Right, starting with induction, as much as i can stick to it.

breakfast, scrambled eggs:
2 eggs, tablespoon cream, curcuma, peppers, in coconut oil.
very strong cuppa tea with natrena sweetener and a dash of goats milk.
i should try to have tea without milk today, and drink extra water.

supplements:
1 fish oil capsule
2 lecethin capsules
vitamin c
magnesium tab (i have muscle cramps, this helps)

here goes nothing.
my strips are ready and waiting but i wont be in ketosis for couple of days, is my experience.

this morning on the scale i was 90 kg.
it is a wildly inaccurate scale though, i should get another one
i might go shopping for one this afternoon. do it right.
i havent measured myself, i never do. just check how the clothes fit.

Natrena info:
sweeteners (cyclamate, saccharine, acesulfame-K), sodium bicarbonate, mono-sodium citrate, sodium carbonate.

Nutritional value
Portion kJ Kcal Protein(g) Carbs(g) Fat(g)
per 100 gr 70 kJ 16 kcal 0 g 0 g 0 g
per tab 0.045 kJ 0.01 kcal 0 g 0 g 0 g

Food Journal

I'm also keeping my food journal at Fitday
might as well try to do it right.

am drinking flavoured tea today, seasonal tea spiced with cinnamon, nothing added. i sincerely hope there are no carbs added because it's not all that nice tasting to begin with, i'd hate to think i'm suffering through this needlessly. it said nothing on the package so i am going to assume there are no carbs in there...

i need to add to shopping list: find wider array of flavours of tea.

okay, i just could not live with the 90 kg. so, i went out and bought a brand new, accurate electronic scale. and found that i weigh 87,6 kg. okay, that's better. i still have to lose more than 20 kg which is a long way to go, but at least it's not 90 kg...

Day one of induction is done. i'll be going to sleep in an hour or so. total carbs today was 19, that's calculating as rigidly and pessimistically as possible (fitday is a very handy tool). tomorrow, same thing.

phew. i'm glad. i'm glad i started.

this morning on the superduper scale, i weighed 86,3 kg. hmm. i'll take that with a grain of salt.

supplements:
lecithin, fish oil, opc, magnesium.

breakfast: two scrambled eggs with cream and a little bit of grated cheese.
lunch: two boiled eggs.
three cups of strong tea with milk, heck i'm at work and the options are limited...
i'll be home late tonight but i put the food ready so i should be okay.

drinking some water but not as much as yesterday.
i'm having a hard time this morning, not feeling too hot.

supplements:
2 lecithin capsules
1 fish oil capsule
OPC
Magnesium

this morning the scale said 85.3 kg. i knew it was too good to be true...
i didnt eat well yesterday, lots of running about, rushing.
i ate half a salami (low carbs but salts, spices) and pork rinds (also salt) so i'm assuming (hoping) this was mainly water retained.

my ketostick was a bit more convinced this morning that i'm in ketosis, still not dark. but then again, it never ever turned really dark, ever.

supplements:
Pool multivite tab
2 lecithin capsules
1 fish oil capsule

food diary where it's always been

this morning the super sensitive scale said 85.3 kg. i growled at the scale but it remained unimpressed.

i had a bad carb day, a co-worker of mine celebrated her birthday and baked apple pie, brought some to work with cream. so of course i had a piece, it would have been quite ungrateful to not participate. pity, my ketostix were dark this morning. but, i instituted this custom in our dept to bond the girls, and everyone always piles on the goodies whether they are on a diet or not, so i had to play along too. and it was verrrry good apple pie, i must say!

found out this evening why my weight had been bouncing all over the place: that time of the month... sheesh, you'd think at 49 it would cut it out. (explains my pissy mood too)

supplements:
Pool multivite tab
2 lecithin capsules
1 fish oil capsule

food diary where it's always been, filling it out slightly cringing.

this morning the scale said 84.8 kg. whahoo!

sort of scatterbrained and not too bright today
(overslept)

back on track foodwise!

supplements:
2 lecithin capsules
1 fish oil capsule
OPC
Magnesium

still recording the food. every bite.

this weekend (saturday) i plan to go to a nearby gym, they have an open day. they have a great special on saturday, for when you join for a year. i believe i will join, and start regular workouts there. it's the kind of gym where chubby old ladies go to get fit, not spandexed youngsters with heavenly bodies...
you cannot get the body back in good shape without a little bit of exercise and this place looks nice, they should give me good guidance to get my fitness back where it belongs!

it was a crazy day today, worked like a demon.
i ate non-induction but it was atkins though, little bit salad, carpacchio with pine nuts and parmesan cheese. yum.

worked my ass off, drank lots of very light herbal tea (mint). i'm developing a taste for this...

supplements:
Pool multivite tab
2 lecithin capsules
1 fish oil capsule

the rest is in my food diary.

supplements:
2 lecithin capsules
1 fish oil capsule
OPC
Magnesium
500 mg vitamin C

posting for yesterday, friday march 30.
it wasnt a good low carb day.
i had to eat some cake, one of the girls from my dept's last day and she brought cake and we had a little get together to wish her well in her new job. times like that, i dont have much choice. but i took a very small slice with fruit. it was horribly sweet compared to what i've been eating lately!

scale said 83,9 kg. so, slowly going in the right direction!

it was so busy at work i hardly had time for lunch (2 boiled eggs)
too busy. thank heavens i'll be on holiday in about one week!
i wont be online much for three weeks, but i'll keep a manual diary and upload it later. i'm finding a journal and food diary very helpful, it's the first time i've ever done it and it certainly helps keep me on track and motivated!

supplements:
Pool multivite tab
2 lecithin capsules
1 fish oil capsule

the rest is in my food diary.

this morning, 83.7 kg.
yesterday, 83.8 kg.
going in the right direction

beautiful sunny day, i'm being lazy and stuff.
yesterday i went to the gym and signed up for one year
that sort of forces me, eh
i start 1 may, after my holiday.
YAY
they gave me a little backpack and nordic walking sticks
i think people look silly when walking with nordic sticks, so i wont.
probably. who knows, maybe i will one day. but not now. i will go on long hikes though. today, with the dog. within ten minutes, i'm away!!!

yesterday, the scale was at 84.2kg. i had had salty chicken soup for supper, perhaps fluid retention... this morning the scale ws back at 83.7 kg.

i've been working like a demented person these past days. forgot to write up my food diary, or journal. still low carb (except for the little chewing gum i chomped on just before i went in at the dentist, so i would not kill the man with my ketosis breath.

still taking the supplements and vitamins.

83.5 kg this morning. oh wow. this is taking looooong.
i can feel the weight leaving my body, though!

still working crazy hard. i'm worried about going off on leave, with stuff the way they are. could end up nasty... this really is a bad time to be going away.

trying to keep diary etc up to date, yawning all the way. just finished working for the day, going to sleep in a few minutes.

it's a miracle i've lost any weight at all!!!

same supplements

83.2 kg this morning. glaciers melt faster than this!!!
still bein a good atkins follower.
I dont understand how i can be on induction and lose so little weight when i follow all the rules and consistently consume less than 20 gram carbs a day.
VERY frustrating. but, i'm still losing so i should not complain. it just takes a whole lot longer to get where i need to be, than ever before.
i guess the stories about difficult weight loss in menopause are right!

no vitamins today. nothing.

weight unchanged this morning. 83.2 kg. i feel rather disheartened, will i ever get past 83 kg??? seems i have been here forever!

keeping to the diet, eating more vegs now (have been lagging a bit).
still taking multivites.

i do drink tea with milk, that's a no-no i know, but i've halved that (amount of milk) and most days i drink more herbal tea without milk than milky tea. increasingly drinking water too.

soldiering on but geez. i wish i could see more result already!
on the other hand, i've lost 4.4 kg which is quite a bit of weight.

yesterday i was at 83 kg and happy as a clam. but: 83.3 kg again, this morning. utterly disgusted!
so of course i went to my sister's birthday party and ate three hugely fattening pieces of cake, and had a cheese souffle when i got home. plus a wrap with spicy mince meat. alltogether, foodwise, a most unwise day.
i was royally ticked off by the scale this morning which is why i went overboard like this. damn stupid.

tomorrow, back on track!
