DH and I toke the kids to the park yesterday evening. Our park has a walking track around the play area. We ended up walking a mile. It felt good. We also did a lot of talking while walking. Raising teenagers is starting to get interesting.

So, I will be back tomorrow to report what I ate....and carbs hopefully. I haven't counted them seriously for quite some time. Thank you all for checking up on me. You ladies are the best!!
You said what I was thinking! I can relate and it drives me crazy (me sounding like a broken record not you)

Sue~Yes, I imagine girl teenagers are a lot of drama! Boys, you have to dig a little deeper to find out what's going on. I know you miss her!

Monet~I know you know what I mean!

Mandy~Kids are worth EVERY sweat and tear! I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Jaime~Ah, you're sweet! I really do have great teenagers. They are straight A students, love God, and have not given us any trouble so far. We are just entering into that independent stage...driving....etc. We are having to figure out where to set the boundaries. All I can say is do a lot of reading and praying!

Yesterday went good. I really had no problem staying on plan (DH did too!). Very happy with that! DH worked late last night so by the time I got dinner done and cleaned up and kids in the bed, I was just too tired to exercise. Note to self...do exercise early in the day. Not much to report otherwise. Just putting my head down and doing the work.

Menu from yesterday:

B~1/2 cup egg salad(2), coffee w/ HC & DS(.5)=2.5
L~Baked chicken(0), lettuce leaf(0), tea w/ Splenda(1.5)=1.5
D~Salad(3), ranch(1), 5 chicken Parmesan strips(5)=9
S~Cucumber slices(1), 2 tsp. ricotta cheese(1)=2

T~15

Jennifer~Didn't mean to forget you .....I guess broken record is better than quitting! It's a process that will be here for the rest of our lives. We are human. We just have to keep striving to do the best we can!

It's going to be a whole different story when they get mobile I know. Lord help me! We just have to believe what the Bible says....Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Beth,

Remember last year when my kids went to CA with my Mom and I had some crazy anxiety attacks? Well, I recently heard some wise words from a Pastor friend...something along the lines of the "illusion of personal safety." Whether it is our own safety or that of our family...it is an illusion when we think we can "make" our childrens' lives safe. They/we are REALLY in God's hands, not ours.

I have been thinking on that alot lately, and wanted to share it with you.

Hugs

I was nervous when DD got her license and what her boundaries would be. But DH said that if a car was available, she could use it, so that was the rule. She never has gotten a ticket, gotten in an accident, caused us any concern, etc... It was very nice to have her as a driver to help with the boys. And, now that DS is about a month away from getting his, I'm looking forward to him being able to help out also.

Glad you had a good on plan day yesterday.

You're right. We do have to realize that our children's safety is in God's hands and not ours. Wow, doesn't that take away a lot of anxiety when we fully trust Him!!

Sue~I am sure that I am making a bigger deal out of all this than needed. I really haven't looked at the idea that all this change may be positive. You know how we can get caught up in the "what ifs" at times. I'm going to chose to be like you....strong and calm!

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. Yesterday was much harder trying to stay on plan. I just kept wanting something sweet. I didn't cave in though. I think some of it was mental too. I'm going to make it.....here's to day 3!

There is nothing like unexpected company to really get you moving on housework. DH called me yesterday and told me that a friend of ours was in town. He found out weeks ago that he would be near by and invited him to stay with us...then forgot about it. He couldn't have picked a better day to spring it on me! My house was a disaster! I went into high gear and got it all done. Now that the visit is over, I get to enjoy a clean house (at least for 24 hours ).

Menu from yesterday:

B~Coffee w/ 2 T. HC(.8) & DS= .8
L~Lg. grilled chicken salad w/ cheese & bacon(8), ranch(3), water=11
D~Chicken wings w/ seasoning(3), celery(.5), ranch(2), tea w/ splenda(2)=7.5
LNS~Atkins bar(2), water=2

T~21.3

I know I was over with the carb count. I really didn't know that salad would be so much. I will keep better watch on it today.

Congrats on a clean house. DH's just don't get it sometimes.

I did get nervous when DD first got her license and was out, especially when she was driving on the freeway in the dark and rain going to a place she wasn't familiar with. But, each time she came home safe, my confidence in her grew and I relaxed. I know I'll go through the same thing when Ds gets his license, but I do know that he's a good driver. In fact, on Sunday he was driving to a relatives house with DH in the front and a lady pulled out in the small road we were on while going 55 MPH. He did wonderfully, was able to keep control of the car while swerving to miss her. I was so proud of him. He sort of enjoyed it.

Your menu looks great.

Sue~That's what scares me the most about DS driving....other drivers. I know you were very proud of him for handling himself so well. I'm sure I will have many stories to tell in the coming months.

Got through another day ....it was difficult, but I got through. I did probably eat more than I should have but it kept me from cheating.

Today I woke up full of energy...and hungry! I would think Ketosis but not sure about the hunger part. It has been very difficult this morning not eat everything in the pantry. I need to get out of this house!

Wish me luck on day 4! I can tell that I am losing a little. Just feeling better in my stomach region. I just have to keep my mind on the pleasures of losing weight and not eating. I know the longer I go it will get easier. I just have to hang in there!

Menu from yesterday:

B~Atkins shake(1), coffee w/ HC(1) & DS=2
L~Mixed (chicken & steak) fajitas(meat, onions, peppers, lettuce) w/ sc & guac.(7) & water=7
S~LC Fuze (2), a couple of mac. nuts (not enough to count)=2
D~2 squares of Linda's Deep Dish pizza(5), 1 cup of salad w/ Caesar dressing(3)=8
D~Atkins bar=2

T~21

I really don't know how to count fajitas. I looked it up in several different places and got a wide spread of carb counts. Does anyone have any insight into how to count the carbs? This is fajitas w/ no rice or beans or tortillas....just meat, onions, green peppers, 1/4 cup lettuce, maybe a couple of T. of sour cream, and couple of T. of guacamole.

Good luck on day four!

I don't know how to count fajitas. I never make them or order them; don't know why.

I think that eating a lot when you're trying to get back into ketosis is a good thing. It keeps you from wanting other things.

I need to stop eating the Atkins bars though ......but they really do help the sweet tooth. Don't tell anyone though that I am helping the sweet tooth! I will have an influx of emails about how I should STARVE the sweet tooth. In due time I say.....in due time.

Beth, I found the Atkins bars so helpful too. But then I got diagnosed hypothyroid and have to avoid soy protein. I'm worried about travelling on upcoming trips - they were so handy when I had cravings or was hungry with no appropriate food around. I may try making something from this LCFer's site, it all looks so good: Healthy Indulgences

She has some treats that are similar to low-carb bars and would be portable, I'm just afraid they will be binge-inducing! I don't have that problem with Atkins bars because they don't taste THAT good.

Yeah today is Friday!! I don't have much time to post today. I have a lunch to go to and a play date for the kids. Made it through another day! I weighed this morning. And what I can tell (since I didn't weigh right before I started but a few days before) I lost 2.5 pounds this week. Hopefully through the weekend I can get back to where I want to be and go from there next week. DH is doing well too. I am very proud of him.

Menu from yesterday:

B~2 eggs(1.2), bacon(0), coffee w/ HC(1) & DS=2.2
L~1 square of LC pizza(2), hamburger patty(0) w/ lettuce leaf & mayo(.5), Lg. tea w/ splenda(3)=5.5
D~Salad(3), ranch(2), Ribeye steak(0), shrimp w/ tiny bit cocktail sauce(1)=6
D~2 squares of Lindt 86% chocolate=2.5

T~16.2

Hope you all have a great weekend. I plan to write everything down on paper and report Monday to keep myself accountable.

Sorry for getting on so late! My weekend was busy. Friday we ate lunch with some friends and then the wives took the kids to Monkey Joe's (inflatable jumping place) for the afternoon. After school the bigger boys said they wanted to go to the football game that night, so we hung out in "the city" (30 minutes from my house) until they were finished. We ended up eating out twice Friday.

Saturday, the older boys had a soccer game away, so DH had to get them to the school by 7:30am. Around lunch, DH's mom came over to watch the little ones, so we could have some time together. We spent the afternoon/evening together and it was wonderful. The older boys didn't get back until 9pm. I was sick when we got home for some reason.

I felt better Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon, we took the kids bowling and had a blast. Last night I started feeling sick again. This morning until about noon I was very nauseated. I don't know if it was something I ate or I have caught a bug. All day long I have just ached all over. I plan on getting to bed here soon.

Eating was OK. I didn't do induction. I did more maintenance. I was back on today. I didn't write down everything like I had planned to do. I'm starting back today....I don't think I will eat anything else today so I will just go ahead and post my menu...

Menu from today:

B~Nothing
L~Mushroom, Swiss, spinach and chicken omelet w/ hollandaise sauce, coffee w/ HNH & splenda
D~Cabbage & hamburger topped w/ Parmesan cheese & sour cream
