Hi Beth,

Praying that today is a better day . I will keep your cousin lifted up in prayer, there is nothing too hard for God. This may not matter at this point, but you have come a long way . This journey isn't easy, but you have proved that it can be done !

Thank you for the encouragement and prayers. I am feeling much better today. I am most proud of myself this week because I didn't cheat at all! I just kept telling myself that I wouldn't start feeling better if I didn't end up starting all over and push through. Sugar is so evil!!! I do think that I am on the up swing of things, and come Monday I will be glad I stuck with it. Maybe next week I will have enough energy to start exercising again.

Today I'm just spending time with the family....so good to have a relaxing day with no demands. DH and I booked some flights today. He is going to be visiting one of his best friends in DC next weekend. His friend is turning 40and having a big party. Then, next weekend I will be flying out to see my best friend in Ohio for her baby shower. I tried to make it a surprise, but I ended up having to tell her. She was trying to work overtime on Saturday. The most wonderful thing happened when we went to book our flights! We ended up having enough points that DH's flight was FREE! What a blessing. It saved us over $300!!!

Well, off to go get some more things done. I am planning to spend a little time alone with the bigger boys this afternoon. DH is going to take the little ones to the park. With a family this big you have to find a little time to spend with each child. It makes everyone feel so special.

Hope everyone is having a blessed day today!

HEY SKINNY CHICK!

I'm still here. We left for Michigan last Wednesday and got back last night. We had a pretty good time. We didn't do to much but we were able to go to the beach on lake michigan and made it to Cabela's twice. Once on the way there and on the way back. It is a sin to pass by a Cabela's and not stop in my book. I'm going to try to poast some pics later. I'll let you know if I get it done.

I left weighing 275 pounds and got back weighing 280. That's not too bad a guess. My wife want's me to go on WW with here starting tomorrow.

Sweet Beth,

Oh honey, I am sorry you were having a tough time, but you sound MUCH, much better now. The trips sound amazing

I know what you mean about spending time with the kiddos. I was really enjoying DS1's baseball camp last week for just that reason...it was a 20-30 minute ride each way to and from camp and it was a fantastic time for us to talk, just W and me.

Hope your Monday is a Blessed One!!

Sorry I missed everyone yesterday. I just felt terrible. My head was hurting so bad. I spent most of the morning lying around until I absolutely had to get up. I'm not sure what was up, but I am feeling better today.

Did pretty good on my diet up until Sunday. We were invited over to one of my friends house for lunch after church. She made a wonderful meal. I cheated with some corn bread. That was all though. There was much more that I could have eaten, but I didn't. Yesterday I stayed right on plan. I am planning to start back exercising today. I still haven't gotten off the weight I gained yet.

The weather is bad here today. It has rained ALOT due to the hurricane. Most of the state is under tornado watch. They already had some tornadoes around Atlanta this morning. I'm keeping watch.....praying we don't see any of that type of weather around us.

Menu from yesterday:

B~Atkins shake
L~Grilled shrimp w/ spices, sm. salad, water w/ lemon
D~Baked chicken w/ mushroom sauce, french style green beans
D~1/2 Atkins bar, coffee w/ HC & splenda

I tried a new chicken last night that was wonderful! I used to fix the chicken with the cream of mushroom soup (with rice) a lot before LC. This was a nice substitute that everyone just loved. Here is the recipe link....Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

That recipe sounds delicious. Wish I were cooking right now. Have you tried the faux rice using cauliflower? I think the sauce would be great over that.

that you don't see any of the bad weather. We rarely have tornadoes here in WA, I'm talking a rare twister every few years that usually does almost no damage, but a couple were seen yesterday here in Western WA. Very strange. I think Fall has hit us here.

Glad you're feeling better today. Headaches are miserable.

Thank you for praying Sue. Apparently I needed it today!!! After I picked up DS#3 I took him and DD to Chickfila to play while we waited on the older boys to get out of soccer practice. While I was sitting there reading my book, a bad storm came up. When I saw the trees outside bending over, I jumped up and grabbed the kids out of the play area and headed to the bathroom. I could here the roof rattling. There was a tornado in the area. A lady in the drive thru jumped out of her car and tried to get the door open to come inside. Others had to help her open the door because the wind was so strong. It went over very quick. The people in the restaurant told us that it had touched down only a few miles from us according to their tracker. I later found out that the tornado damaged two schools and many houses. They said there was about 30 trees down. I thanked the Lord that we weren't directly in it. Our county is still under a tornado watch until 2am. so please continue to pray. I have never seen so much rain in all my life!

Hi Beth,

I think when we are confident in who we are in HIM (Christ), nothing can move us. Yeah it's normal to be a little scared, but we know HE is watching over us . I hope you and DH enjoyed lunch today. WTG on staying on plan and getting some exercise in. Take care and be blessed.

I'm finally able to post for today .....I have been so busy today!

Jennifer~I really need to go back and look at those pictures. Sometimes you just need to be reminded of just how far you have come. Especially when you are in the homestretch and things aren't moving fast like they used to. I do have a lot of be proud of!

Lyn~I like your avatar....wish I was that tall and skinny! Hope you had a wonderful day!

Sue~Thank you for your prayers. I got your note today...you're so sweet!

So, back to yesterday....stayed on plan...exercised....big pat on my back! I was thinking today about why it has been so hard for me to keep up with exercise. One of the reasons hit me today when I was reading the calories off my Atkins bar. I remembered what my treadmill read last night in the calories burned category. I walked/ran for 30 minutes and burned like 115 calories. My Atkins bar was 140 I think. First thought....so I didn't even burn this measly little bar!!! UGH! I think this has been one of my obstacles. Yes, I KNOW that you get your metabolism going when you exercise....and you gain muscle which in return helps you burn more calories. It's just the immediate that has gotten me to quit in the past(among being just flat out lazy). Just thought I would let you all in my mind.

I saw a thread on here that was about aspartame. It gave a link to the movie that a woman made that was called "Sweet Misery" in where she did a research on the dangers of aspartame. (Sorry I am just too lazy right now to give you all the link) It was very eye opening and scary the amount of damage it has done in our society! I went through my cabinets yesterday to throw out anything that had aspartame. Of course, diet drinks & equal are the common items (didn't have those), but my SF syrup (3 different kinds) had it in there...my gum....my drink mixes that I put in water, and even my Metamuscil!!! I was just shocked! Here I thought I was doing good by using splenda and knocking out diet drinks! Then, there is the dilemma over whether splenda is even safe. UGH! Does anyone even like Stevia. To me it takes SO much to get something sweet! Anyway, I am sure you can find it if you do a search. Maybe I will look for it tomorrow....

Menu from yesterday:

B~Homemade Protein Cookie, Atkins shake, coffee w/ HC & DS
L~Leftover Chicken, cheese "crackers"
S~Atkins bar
D~Hamburger w/o bun, slice of cheese, LC ketchup, mayo, mustard, sm. salad (just lettuce & cucumber), ranch, tea w/ splenda

That 30 minutes on the treadmill did so much more than burn up more than part of the Atkins Bar. Good job getting it done.

I am so torn about artificial sweeteners. I've bought Stevia a couple times, but don't like the flavor of it. I've read the threads about the movie "Sweet Misery" and have become concerned about Splenda also. My youngest Ds gets headaches from sugar, so he has low carb or no sugar added ice cream, but the artificial sweetener thing bothers me for him. It's a hard choice to make.

Hope you have a great day, dear friend.

Sue~It is a hard choice to make. I wish I could get to that stage where I didn't need anything sweet!

Another good day under my belt. The scales haven't moved in the last few days. I hope it just comes in a whoosh soon. I didn't exercise yesterday. I was going to get on the treadmill but DH wanted me to go to town with him. Then, it was just too late and I was tired. I will get back to it today. Hey, I did a lot of walking in Walmart pushing the cart my 3 year old was in yesterday. Does that count?

I'm starting to get a little anxious about DH leaving this weekend. It's been a while since he has been gone this long. And I get anxiety about him flying. There is suppose to be another storm coming this way. UGH! Anyway, the Lord led me to this scripture this morning so I thought I would put it here to remind me that it's all in His hands.

Philippians 4:6-7,8 (NLT) Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Menu from yesterday:

B~Sausage & cheese egg frittata, coffee w/ HC & DS
L~Lg. Char-grilled chicken salad w/ BC & ranch, water w/ lemon
S~Atkins Endulge bar, tea w/ splenda
D~Crusted Salmon (my recipe), sauteed spinach
D~Blueberry LC yogurt w/ 2 tsp. of flax seed

I have seen that movie "Sweet Misery". pretty scary. It is hard for me to break away from the splenda, but everything else is gone. How long is your husband going to be away for?

Jennifer~Not long. He will leave 6am Saturday morning and be back late Mon. night. Before we bought out business he was gone at least two nights a week. I got used to him being away. That was going on 3 years ago. I'll be fine. It is just that lurking fear of something happening to him. It all comes back to trusting the Lord with his safety.

Hiya Beth.. this verse is SO true... I used to worry and worry about my son and his gf... then I GAVE IT TO GOD,, and every since then.. I am calm.. I dont get all upset and cry about it.. I now feel peace about it all.. I think , I have taught him right from wrong.. he has God in his heart.. so IF he decides to do wrong.. its between him and God.. he will be 18 this December.. I still don't feel she is right for him.. but its all up to our good Lord!!..

you have a wonderful day sweets..

Monet~They are still dating?! I know how much it has hurt you to watch him go down the wrong path. Sounds like you are in a good place right now with trusting the Lord. Boy, isn't it hard sometimes to do! God is faithful. We just have to pray that God will open his eyes to the truth. Thank God that your son has you for his mama!

I found out yesterday that my brother is coming to visit this weekend! That should make the weekend go a little faster with DH being gone! Today the boys have a soccer game at 3:00. This will be the first game that I have been able to go to (others have been away).

I went out with my best friend last night to dinner. Our husbands were suppose to come, but things changed last minute so we went on. I had a couple of higher carb choices. For an appetizer, I had one fried green tomato (their specialty), and with my meal came fried sweet potatoes (no sugar or cinnamon) which I had a few. Other than that, I stayed on plan yesterday (actually eating less during the day since I knew that I would be going out).

At dinner, my BFF was telling me about this diet that her husband got off the Internet that they are going to try. She didn't really know the name of it, but it sounded like a weird version of Atkins and South Beach (meaning I heard one choice of whole grain, fruit, beans in there). She said they eat every 3-4 hours. They have to pick from a list of foods that are divided into columns. I thought to myself...I will believe it when I see it!!

They both tried Atkins before for a while, but wouldn't stick to it. Now they want to try something that seems much harder? I just shake my head. It can be so aggravating when people do plans half way or do them to get a quick fix when they need to lose a lot of weight. Then, they through away th
