Hi Krysta!
Great to hear from you!My trip to NC was fun but very tiring. We got back home around 2:45am Sunday morning. I absolutely hate driving/riding that late, but DH loves it so it didn't bother him. I just can't go to sleep and leave him at the wheel that late so it forces me to stay awake as well. I can get really ill when I am that tired too. Nevertheless, it was a good trip. I got to see relatives I had not seen in a long time. The food was awesome. I did mostly eat low carb with a few sneaks at the dessert table. It's funny how once you are in the middle of a long cheat procrastination can talk you into continuing. I wonder just how many diets are started on Mondays? ![]() SOOOOO, I start back today. NO more cheats (Not at least until my birthday-Aug 18th ) I really have to get this weight off I have gained. My clothes are starting to get tight and uncomfortable. I weighed this morning and I stayed the same. I just hate seeing that number on the scales. Hopefully in the next few days I will lose the water weight and start feeling better. Then, I can move onto the real pounds. I have also decided today to check into joining Curves. I am going to call and make an appointment. I have just got to do something to jump start my toning and exercising. So far today....only an Atkins shake and coffee w/ HC & LS. I plan to have a salad for lunch and some meat and vegetable for dinner. It's after dinner that will be my problem. I have gotten in the habit of having something sweet....LC ice cream....blueberries and cream. I will just plan on having some hot tea or coffee instead. ![]()

We are in the same boat!
I saw a really good segment on the Today show this morning that talked of just that. How it is so easy for people to perhaps see a commercial, or smell some cookies, something them small will set them off to "cheat"...all along I thought I was the only one!! You can do this!! |

Sounds like a very long trip on Saturday. I also hate too fall asleep while we're on long drives because I don't want DH to get sleepy.
I think a cup of tea or coffee is a great idea for night time cravings. I've done that many times, and just slowly sipping on the drink really helps me. Love you, dear friend.![]() |

Good morning everyone!
![]() I made it through yesterday with no cheats! I intended to stick close to induction level, but in the afternoon I got so hungry and started to snack. Then after dinner I ended up having some fruit. At least I didn't cheat so that is the main thing right now. Second is to get back into ketosis so it will be easier.School starts August 11th. I am already feeling the pressure. At least this year I want be on the road as much. DS#3 will be starting kindergarten. After the first week, I will be picking him up at 2:50 (they believe the children need to work up to staying all day, so the first week I pick him up at 11:50). That gives me 3 more hours at home this year!! DH will still take them in the morning. Then, I will pick up DS#3 and the older ones in the afternoon. Of course, there will be practices and games that we will have to work around . Both boys are interested in soccer this year and that will start right away. Then, we will move right into basketball. Oh, I need to stop thinking about all of this!!! I still have a couple of weeks left of summer.....Did I let everyone know that I finally got my last child potty trained? Laugh, but it is a big thing for me. Now if I can just get them both trained at night. DS#3 is still using pull-ups at night and he is 5. I don't know what we are going to end up doing with that one. I do see the light at the end of the tunnel now with never having to buy diapers/pull ups again!![]() I went to Curves yesterday to talk to the lady about joining. They are charging me $99 to start with the rest of the summer for free (only one month). Then, the monthly fee is $34 which they draft out of your account. You have to make a year commitment as well. I gave DH the info last night but never really got an answer about whether or not we could do it. I hope he will let me know today. I have an appt. set up tomorrow to start if he says yes. My big concern is how much time I am going to have once school starts. With practices and games I will really have to figure this out. I really can't depend on DH to be home at a certain time. If the older boys are at home, that is not a problem. I can leave them with the younger ones for 40 minutes. I just don't want to waste the money you know. I really want to do it though. Menu from yesterday: B~Shake, coffee w/ HC & DS L~2 cups raw spinach, cucumber, 2T. Parmesan cheese, 2 T. bacon ranch dressing, one slice turkey S~chicken salad (chicken & mayo), microwaved mozzarella cheese chips D~Parmesan chicken breast, broccoli, splenda tea D~Watermelon |

Hi Beth!!
I have been trying to get my daughter potty trained as well (she is 3) How did you do it??? I have two older boys, it seemed it was so much easier with them, I am at my wits end. She will tell me when to change her diaper, she just refuses the potty...Ugh!! Okay...enough potty talk! Congratulations on a cheat free day. |

Jennifer~I had the same trouble with DD at the start. Kids really just do it when they are ready. I know that sounds simple, but it is true. A few weeks ago I started putting panties on her at home. We had lots of messes, but it did help her understand. I gave rewards when she went and made a big deal. Does she have a potty? I had started DD on the big toilet. When I got her a potty she picked out then she got interested. I also bought her some panties she picked out. Just don't stress over it. I think some children just like the control.
Krysta~The watermelon was really good. I had put it in our frig a few weeks ago so it wouldn't go bad while on vacation. I didn't know what I would find when I finally cut it. It was delicious! What else do you have growing in the garden? I was down a pound this morning. I guess I should be happy but I am not liking just how slow this is going. I did it to myself, so I guess I should just shut up about it. I wish I could just remember this feeling when I am in the middle of a cheat. I have been trying to start out the day by being so good that I think I am just not eating enough. By the afternoon I am hungry and after dinner the sweet tooth hits. I am wondering if I just need more fat. Maybe I just need some flat out control! Last night I just couldn't satisfy myself. I think I was just upset over something. DH was working late and I stayed up watching shows that I had recorded. I ate way too much LC junk. This being out of ketosis is really hard!!! I am reminded of just why I gained so much weight in the first place.I cancelled my appt. with Curves. I am really bummed about it. DH didn't say no but gave the "I just don't know where the extra money will come from" speech. I just said whatever! I do have a treadmill sitting right here in the room with me, but I can't seem to get motivated to get on it. I remember when I dreamed of having a treadmill. I think I am fighting depression. I have not been consistent with my medicine, and I think it is kicking me in the behind. Sorry for the uplifting journal entry .....Menu from yesterday: B~2 eggs & bacon, tea w/ splenda L~Chicken Caesar salad from Wendy's w/o tomatoes & two packs of dressing, more tea w/ splenda S~Atkins bar D~Wild Wings-salad w/ ranch, chicken wings, celery, ranch & BC, MORE tea w/ splenda D~LC ice cream w/ CCD milk, blueberries w/ cream, few nuts I am so embarrassed by my menu . I will do better today. I really need to eat more fat....and cut the carbs back....also cut out the splenda....using way too much!! |

Hi Beth...thanks for the potty training tips. My daughter does have a potty....that she uses for a hat?!?!
Here is a thought on Curves....maybe just go for one month, meet w/ a personal trainer, see what they have to say, then after the month you will have so many tips that you may be able to do it on your own?? |

Jennifer~The thing is that they don't operate that way. You have to sign up first which includes the sign up fee and year commitment. They won't let you touch the equipment unless you are committed! Thanks for the suggestion though.

Slowly but surely my weight gain is coming off. I lost another pound this morning.
I am finding with each day I am gaining a little more control back. I did better yesterday (not perfect but better). I am going to really up the water in the next few days. I realized last night that I haven't been drinking much. Maybe that will help flush the fat out.Menu from yesterday: B~Atkins shake, coffee w/ HC & DS L~Hamburger patty w/ one slice cheese, 2 slices of tomato, sour pickle, water to drink D~Taco salad-salad mix, cheese, taco meat, sour cream, salsa Tea w/ splenda D~Coffee w/ HC & DS, 2 Atkins bars Funny thing about the Atkins bars. DH and I went out to the movies last night. I took 2 bars for us. He ended up getting popcorn. I didn't eat any popcorn at all!! BUT my bar didn't last long enough. I ended up eating his too. It's all DH's fault. Next time I won't bring him anything!![]() |

We went to see Step Brothers. It was terrible. I should have checked it out online before I went. I just thought it would be funny because who was in it. It was raunchy humor. It was a waste of time.

Monet~There are so many movies out there that could be really good movies if they would just take out the cussing and extra sexual situations. I wish they would just go back to making good love stories like in the old movies.
I am hanging in there. Yesterday was just perfect with LC eating. I probably ate too much for dinner but I didn't have any sweet cravings afterwards. I haven't tested for ketosis yet....maybe tomorrow. I should be showing a trace soon. I can tell my hunger level is getting much better. One thing I realized yesterday was that I am also dealing with TOM. I was so cranky yesterday....found myself yelling at the kids.....getting frustrated easily. Then came the cramping and I knew . Another reason for my weight being up so much. It usually will just up a couple of pounds during that time. It's about the only way I can tell that TOM is happening to me.So, tax free weekend is here in Georgia this weekend. I am planning to go shopping for a few things for school for the kids. The older boys decided to play soccer this year. The season is now so I have to go out and buy them some cleats. We are also looking at getting them a new computer since theirs has messed up. It's old....we have just been waiting for it to give up. I am going to have to Google to see what is on the list for tax free. Anyone know? Hope everyone has a good weekend. Stay on plan! Don't cheat! Just know through me that it is NOT worth it! Menu from yesterday: B~Flax seed muffin w/ cream cheese, crystal light L~Sm. salad w/ ranch, Parmesan chicken breast, water D~Olive Garden-larger salad w/ OG dressing, couple of mushrooms w/o the stuffing, Mixed Grill w/o potatoes and extra veggies(Grilled steak & chicken, squash, zucchini, peppers and onions) , tea w/ splendaD~Coffee w/ cream and splenda One of our friends had given us a gift card for OG. DH decided that we would all go last night since we were in town. I just love when I don't have to cook! ![]() |

Hey girl! You are doing great! Sorry about Curves! I loved it when I was able to go, but the hours just don't work for me, since DH isn't home in time to watch the kids.
Maybe we can motivate ourselves to get on the treadmill again! Mine is collecting some serious dust! |

Hope you got a lot of good shopping done during your tax free weekend. Wow, wish we had something like that. I guess we just go to Oregon when we want a tax free weekend.
![]() Hope also that TOM is over and you're feeling better. Also sorry that Curves didn't work out, but get on that treadmill and you'll feel so much better. ![]() Lots of love and thankfulness for your dear friendship. ![]() |

Deb~That was my problem with Curves too. If I would have gotten to go, I'm not sure just how much I would have been able to get over there. I really need to get on the treadmill. I keep telling myself that when the kids start school then I will have more time to myself.
Sue~I did get some shopping done for DS#3. The older boys wear uniforms to school. I can't believe your state doesn't do the tax free thing. I thought all states participated. I am thankful for your friendship too!!! I realized this morning that I forgot to post yesterday. My weekend went well. No cheats. I did have some fruit though. It's so much harder when you have moved up the ladder to go back to induction levels. Especially when you have cheated it's hard to go back. I did test for ketosis yesterday and I was in ketosis! My weight has gone down only .2 over the weekend putting me at 135.2. I started weighing like 137.4 when I got back from vacation, so I lost 2.2 pounds last week. I guess it's nothing to complain about. I just have to keep going. Let this be a lesson to everyone reading my journal. I have probably said this EVERY time I go and cheat.....it is hard to get back off the weight after a cheat!!!I was talking to Sue over in her journal about how her condition (I love ya Sue ) has really started me thinking about my priorities in life. Sometimes this weight loss/addiction to carbs journey can over take your thinking and become all you ever focus on . I know for me it seems in order for me to get really serious about losing weight it has to consume my thoughts. I really don't want to live my life that way! Although it has gotten better over time (learning how to live out low carb), I do find myself at times really focused on that part of my life letting other important things fall by the way side. I will spend enormous amounts of time on the computer, planning out meals, writing in my food journal etc. Ladies, there are MORE IMPORTANT things in life than food!! I told Sue that in my thoughts I had imagined what I would do if faced with cancer. Suddenly my priorities became different. Questions posed in my thinking were....How much time are you investing in your spiritual walk?.....How much time are you spending with your children in just play?.....How much time have you investing in caring for other people or are you just too busy? What would you do differently? I say all of this to say(and I am preaching to myself FIRST) let's all keep things in balance. Don't obsess over weight loss. It's just NOT the most important thing in life. Love yourself at each level you are at. Choose each day to be the best person you can be. Put God first in everything you do. Rely on Him to help you bring balance to your life. In the end all of these trivial things just don't matter. |

I read your post to DH this morning, crying through the whole thing. My cancer journey is becoming "our journey." So much to learn along the way for all of us. The Lord is good, and is teaching us things through each others lives.
Wish we did have a tax free weekend. WA is one of the highest taxed States, so you'd think that they could afford it one weekend a year. |

Hey Beth! Glad you are back losing! You are right about priorities. It is hard to keep things balanced, for sure. Like even right now, I am obsessing about how much weight I will gain, and when I can start a diet again. Why am I worried about that right now???? Of course,my babies are the top priority, but I still find myself obsessing about my weight. Crazy.
You are awesome, though. You have basically maintained for SO LONG! Even if you havent lost like you have wanted to, you really haven't gained, and that is IMPRESSIVE! |
