Deb~Thanks for the advice and for your prayers.

Monet~That recipe sounds so good. I will have to fix it when I am stronger though.

Sue~I needed that sermon this morning. You are so right. Why can't we think of that when we are in the middle of it. Food is so much easier some times. I was doing a lot of praying and eating yesterday.

I just wanted to check in and let everyone know about the boys. I have to go right now. We are having a birthday lunch for our partner in business (you have to specify these days ). We are going to Sonny's BBQ. I am planning to have smoked turkey and the salad bar. I am not going to type up my menu from yesterday. Frankly I really didn't keep up with all I ate....totally legal foods (oatmeal was a little stretch) though.

Have a great weekend if I don't get to talk to you all.
Its meant for something the kids can do.. they can eat it.. not you silly.... make sure you tell the store how Christ arose when they make them..

Let me get caught up finally.....

Eating was really good all weekend up until Easter. We went to a nice place that normally lets you order your food but on Easter they had a buffet instead. On the buffet was Roast beef, Pecan or Parmesan crusted chicken(couldn't really tell), mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli casserole, corn and bread stuffing, rolls. I ate the meat, the broccoli casserole, and the Caesar salad they brought out.....good huh? Well, then I found out that dessert was included...chocolate pound cake w/ choc. ice cream! They had other desserts to pick from but when they said that one it was all over! I did only eat 1/4-1/2 of it. And that was the only cheat I have had since starting back strict. I am happy to report also that I am back down this morning to 132.6!

I didn't start keeping up with my menus until yesterday. I just took the weekend off. I ended up going and getting a refill on my Lexapro on Friday. I am feeling much better since starting that back up. Also to report, I went walking w/ a friend on Friday afternoon. We did 2 miles. On Saturday, I went and cleaned my parents house (got exercise there). I think all this has helped me get back down.

I am sorry I never got back on here yesterday. It was such a busy day!

Has anyone seen that show "I Can Make You Thin"? I have DVR the program and it is very interesting. I started Friday putting into practice the "Eating Consciously" point. He says that we tend to eat w/o thinking about our food. We eat while doing other things.....we eat too fast....we don't stop and taste our food. He suggest that we take a bite of food and then put the fork down....chewing our food at least 20 times....thinking about what we are eating while listening to our bodies tell us when we are full. I started doing this and I have ended up leaving half of my food on my plate every time! I can't believe it! I knew that I was eating too much for my weight, but I didn't realize that by eating it fast and not thinking about the food just how much I was over eating. It was neat the experiment they did with people by blindfolding them while they ate. The first go around they all finished their plates. After being blindfolded, they only finished half. I think most of us have been programed to eat what is put before us rather than stopping when we are full. We have desensitized our bodies to recognizing the signals of letting us know when we are full. Try it...you'll be amazed.

Menu from yesterday:

B~1 egg(.6), sm. pieces of steak(0), coffee w/ CCD milk(1) & 2 splenda(2)=3.6
L~1/2 hamburger steak w/ mushrooms(.5), mayo(.5), 1/2 sm. salad(1), ranch(2)=4
S~Atkins Endulge bar(2), Tea w/ splenda(2)=4
D~Tilapia(0),couple of shrimp(0), 1/4 cup green beans(1.5), Crystal Light SF lemonade (?)=1.5
D~LC strawberry yogurt=3

T~16.1

Beth~you did great and your weight shows it. Very proud of you.

Glad that you're feeling better after re-filling the Lexapro.

That show sounds interesting. Sometimes I wish we got television. But, I know that I do a lot of mindless eating so I think I will write those things down and start putting them into practice today.

I'm not sure. I know he is a author as well. I thought about looking for his book. I will have to look on my recordings to get when it comes on....I think Sunday night. Also, his name...can't think of it right now.

He does have the philosophy that you can eat anything you want and as much as you want. Of course, the other rules kinda keep all that in focus. He says that once you start really tasting your food then you might find that you really don't like them anymore. He has the people in his audience to only have foods that they love in the house and throw out all the rest. Supposedly, he is saying that naturally thin people eat this way......they are able to eat everything because they know how to not over do it. This past Sunday night he gave these tapping techniques that help you get through emotional cravings. Real hungry is described as coming on gradually. Emotional eating is all at once...got to have. He has you tap on pressure points such as your forehead, collar bone, back of the hand...rotating your eyes, humming, and counting. Surprisingly it really does work. I tried it. I feel stupid but it works.

I saw a small part of the show while my husband was getting ready for work. He told everyone to go out and buy their favorite food, keep it on hand ect. Now this was a busy time for me w/ the kids trying to go to sleep and husband leaving, I did not pay close attention, but what I heard made me wonder about the health factor of eating all those sweets.

I was going to eat slow, taste my food, think about the flavors, etc...last night for dinner but was done before I remembered. Typical of me.

Will try again today.

I did the same thing today. I was so hungry at lunch that I forgot to put down my fork ....I also ate it while watching TV. I will have to do better tomorrow.

Not much to report today. I am still trucking along. I have had a problem with wanting to snack today. Some days you can control it and some days you can't. One thing I am puzzled about are my ketone sticks. They have only been reading a trace. I must have knocked myself out with the cake Sunday. I usually don't have trouble getting back pretty quick though. Maybe in the next few days I will get back to burning more fat.

Menu from yesterday:

B~Atkins Shake=1
L~Burger King-LC Bacon Whopper w/ cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle(3-didn't eat all of it), tea w/ splenda(2)=5
S~1/2 cup ricotta cheese(4) w/ DS & 1 T. SF chocolate chips(1) =5
D~Homemade Lasagna(7), sm. salad just lettuce & tomato(1)=8
D~Taste of crustless LC Key-Lime pie I made for DH=1

It's a process I guess? Learning how to eat right. Doing this is just one more step in the process.

Key lime pie.......and you only had one bite? You deserve a pat on the back.

Well, I really don't care for key-lime or lemon pie. DH loves it. I tried Linda Sue's crustless version. It came out very tasty. It was easy to make too. I am more of a chocolate, apple, strawberry kind of pie lover.

Yesterday was harder for me for some reason. I am trying to figure it out. My mood wasn't all that great. I was just a little down in the dumps. Which makes it so much harder to stay on track. I was really upset with myself last night for giving into a craving. I guess I should have done more tapping. I knew I wasn't hungry but gave in anyway. After I was finished eating it, I just felt sick. Why must I do this to myself? I tried to redeem myself by getting on the treadmill this morning. Now I am feeling more successful.

I have a lot of things on my to do list today. Some things I have been putting off....scheduling dentist appts., order birthday presents for DD (we are decorating her room different for her 3rd B-day), and cleaning house(I have friends coming to visit tomorrow and staying the weekend). So far this morning I have only exercising accomplished. It will be a long day!

I haven't weighed in the last couple of days. I am trying to do better about staying off the scales. I think I will weigh again Saturday. At this point I will be happy to stay the same (132.6)....crossing my fingers.

Menu from yesterday:

B~Atkins shake=1
L~Zaxby's grilled house salad minus onions(4), ranch(4), naked wings(0), tea w/ splenda(1), 1 homemade chocolate PB treat(3-had a little oatmeal added to it this time)=12
S~Atkins bar=3
D~Blackened Mahi Mahi(.5),bacon wrapped shrimp w/ cheese(.5) very small salad(1), no dressing, green beans(3)=5
D~1 T. pb(4) w/ 1 T. SF chocolate(1) melted together=5 (probably more...the T were piled high )

Don't beat yourself up, Beth. It was all legal stuff. You're doing fine.

I hope you get all that you need to get done accomplished today. How fun to have friends coming over the weekend. I always enjoy cleaning when there is something like that to look forward to.

For staying off the scale!

I know how hard that is for you. I am so impressed.

What fun to decorate a little girl room! Must have details, so that I can live vicariously through you! We don't have a feminine room in this house!

Hi Sweet Beth,

Wow, you are one busy lady! I remember when we re-did DD's room from the nursery look into little girl land...what a fun time!

Right now, we are in the planning stages for a make-over of my sons' room. They share a room and we haven't done anything to it since DS2 was born almost 7 years ago! The little car border has to GO Our plan is to re-paint the walls with a sand color, add the RedSox border we have purchased...and on the largest wall, we are painting a replica of the Green Monster at Fenway. The boys are sooooooooo excited. We really need to get our butts in gear and get moving on it!

Have a wonderful time with your company!

Thanks for coming by my journal to check up on me. I have posted my saga over there, no need to bore you here!

Hugs

Hi Beth - just checkin' in after my long stretch off the boards. Looks like you are doing great foodwise despite struggling with the usual temptations. Doing your daughter's room over sounds fun! Mostly I think I don't want children but when I think about dressing little girls or designing a pretty room for them I swoon!
