Jaime~Thank you also for walking with me. You are right....God is with us every step of the way. We honor Him when we take care of our bodies.
I was thinking this afternoon, as I struggle with wanting something else after eating lunch (knowing that I am not still hungry really), the power of inner conversation. A lot of the times I allow myself to think things that are contrary to where I am going with my WOE. I will allow myself to think negative thoughts. I will allow myself to think of how I am being deprived of the things I love. I will allow myself to beat myself up for the mistakes I have made. I realize that those thoughts are not from God. These thoughts have sabotaged my efforts in the past. If someone was actually saying those things aloud to me to my face, I wouldn't put up with it! So, why do I accept it inside. It is so important that when we hear these negative things in our minds that we say out loud the opposite. When your brain tells you that you can't get back on track, you say to yourself that that is a lie and with God's strength you can do all things. When your brain tells you that you are hungry and you know you have eaten enough, you have to just tell yourself that you are NOT hungry. I used to use that technique when I was in college trying to lose weight. Now granted I WAS hungry and trying to starve myself , it still worked. We have to counteract wrong thinking with positive thinking or else the negative will always win in the end.

Beth you're on your way to a new beginning and a whole new perspective on low carb!
What you said is so true and spot on! We cannot allow our negative thoughts to control us and we need to put what God has told us back in. So good for you for recognizing this!!! ![]() |

Hi Beth!
So glad the party was a success! I love those places! No clean up afterwards! Oh! I so feel you on the portion issue! I do the same thing! Lately, I have been eating my meals on the kids plates to remind myself (salad size) and using the cake forks, so I take less, and eat slower with smaller bites. When I use my regular, plate, I ALWAYS dish out the same amount for me as DH! Count me in on your Boot Camp, Sargent Beth! I definitely need to follow your lead and eat cleaner and weigh in more often. I would really like to knock off some more lbs before Sis's wedding, and seeing my Dr. in April!

Diana~I believe you have the gift of encouragement.
![]() Deb~Good advice on using a salad plate and fork! I have heard also that when you go out to eat divide your meal in half and take the rest home. Eating slower is a great tip. I am usually doing other things while eating....don't take the time to enjoy it....feel deprived when the plate is all the sudden empty....don't remember eating it. ![]() Jennifer~I think all women are this way! Morning Beth.
You have shared a lot of wisdom in the last few days in your journal. Especially the part about how you previously would never eat a bite off plan, but once you do, it's hard to stop. So true, and this is what has happened to me. It is such a slippery slope, and one that is very hard to get off. But, I am determined, and I know that you are also, that I'm going to get off that slope and eat right again. Not one bite of off plan food will enter my mouth today, and it will just get easier with each passing day. I love reading your journal. It really helps me. You're a dear friend. ![]()

OK, I'm back....
My mom called yesterday to tell me that our extended family is doing a Biggest Losers Teams competition. Everyone in the family that wants to participate puts in $10. We put every one's name in a bowl and draw teams. The weight loss is from now until July. I signed DH and I up for the event. Which ever team loses the most percentage wins all the money. I thought this would be really good motivation for losing the last 10 pounds I need to lose. Also, I thought it might help DH get back to losing. Hehe. ![]() Yesterday I was totally on plan. I only had one moment of temptation and that was after lunch. I wasn't hungry I just wanted something sweet. It's all a part of getting rid of the sugar cravings. The only thing I could have done better on was the exercise yesterday. I did get quite a bit of walking in with my errands but not enough to get the heart rate up to count really. I plan on doing better today and getting on my treadmill.Menu from yesterday: B~Atkins shake=1 L~2 cups salad mix(2), 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese(1), grilled chicken breast(0), ranch(2), green tea=5 D~Cabbage & hamburger(3) w/ sour cream(1.5) & sprinkle Parmesan (not enough to count), water=4.5 D~Decaf coffee w/ 1 T. HC(.5) & DS= .5 T~11 Water: 64oz. Exercise: just walking while running errands I really couldn't believe that I had no snacks yesterday. I really went too long without having anything to eat between lunch and dinner. I don't think you are suppose to go more than 4 hours without something. My something was just SF gum. It says 1 carb per piece but I refuse to count something like that in my totals. In my opinion, that is the kind of stuff that will drive you crazy with this plan. So, if my gum prevents me from cheating or eating other higher carbs, I think in the end it works out great! I learned that technique of chewing gum by watching The Biggest Loser. Don't you just love that show? I'm sure if I exercised as much as they do on that show I would have no trouble losing these last few pounds. It's a stormy day here in Ga. today. We are under tornado watch until 7pm. I pray we don't see anything that severe. I certainly don't like driving in all this mess. |

The family competition sounds like a lot of fun and good motivation to lose that last few pounds.
DH and I have decided that we both need more exercise; he has started on a plan but I have not yet. DD is doing Couch to 5K, but I just need to get walking and see how my food does with it. Those sugar cravings; I'm going to try to eat a lot in the next few days to get over them. I think chewing gum is a good idea if it keeps you from snacking. My problem with it is that I just keep popping more pieces in my mouth and those carbs add up fast. that you will be safe from tornadoes.![]() |

Monet~I believe you could do anything you put your mind to! I would cry too much too...hey, those guys have been babies!
![]() Lyn~good to see you here! Sue~I think as the weather starts to get nice we are going to "feel" like doing more exercise. The warm weather wakes me up to the fact that summer is coming! I would hate it if I tried on my summer clothes and they didn't fit! I know what you mean about the gum...soo good! The rain was heavy yesterday evening but thank the Lord there were no tornadoes. When I went to pick up the boys from school, a house I pass every day had a tree fall on top of it. The tree also crushed their van. The police had just gotten there when I went past. I hope everyone was alright. I stayed on plan again yesterday! It's funny to say that as long as I have been doing this. It is quite an accomplishment for me as of late. Not only have I stayed on plan but I have done induction level as well. Now if I could just get the exercise in. I clean house hard yesterday. I only had a couple of hours to do what I had to do. I ended up breaking a sweat. Does that count? No treadmill to report. I did some sit ups this morning to make myself feel better about it. I must continue to beat myself up regarding this part of my plan. I sat there last night watching Biggest Loser wishing I had been working as hard as they have. Man, you could really tell how the exercise has been sculpting some of those ladies. They are starting to have the hour glass shape. Did anyone notice?Menu from yesterday: B~Egg salad(2), 2 bacon(0), coffee w/ HC(.5) & DS (0)=2.5 L~Atkins shake=1 (actually forgot to eat lunch...had fed the kids and then start cleaning, so I grabbed a shake around 3:00) D~Chopped sirloin(0), 1/2 cup broccoli(1.7), 1/4 cup cooked mushrooms(1), salad(2), ranch(3), unsweet tea w/ 3 splendas(3)=10.7 T~14.2 Ketone stick this morning: moderate Exercise: cleaning house Water: didn't keep track yesterday but did get some in |

Sue~The excitement is contagious isn't it! There is nothing like everyone losing weight around you to keep you disciplined either. I actually can't wait to weigh on Friday. I am already feeling thinner! I have so much more energy too! It is amazing how those carbs can zap you! Hey, how is your cleaning business coming along? How many houses are you working?

The excitement is very contagious.
I'm cleaning three houses now; two every week and one every other week. It's a great schedule. This is my three house week, so along with everything else, and not having my car, it's a busy one. |

I was talking with Sue over in her journal and I had a thought....let's not forget our fiber! I was watching Oprah yesterday and Dr. Oz was on. He was talking about the importance of getting 25 grams of fiber per day. He says it is a key to getting rid of the waste and helps with weight loss. The other suggestion was calcium w/ magnesium. Both of these have been proven to help with weight loss. I love Metamusil. It makes it easy to get the extra fiber.

I will burn a lot of calories today because the house has three floors and I have to go up and down with the vacuum.
Also, this is the week that I clean the baseboards, so lots of up and down with that. Here's to fiber. ![]() |
