Beth~I'm so sorry about the gain. It has to be the meds since you didn't have this kind of gain before you went on them. I think the supplement I've heard of (did I send you a PM about it?) is 5-HTP. Maybe you could start a thread in the ML or Health/Medical Issues forum about it.

I'm sure it will help when basketball is over, especially since you have to do so much traveling to get to the games.

Not sure what to say about the Pyschiatrist? That's a lot of money.

Still praying for you; I know the Lord will show you what to do.

Sweet Beth,

I understand how you are feeling. I don't think I would have been brave enough to stop the Celexa without having some Xanax in the event of a panic attack. I haven't felt the need for any medication. I don't know if sharing my experience is helping, but at least you won't feel all alone.

God will make His plan known. I will pray that you are able to see His way. PLEASE feel free to PM me, and I will give you my cell number if you would like to talk.

I will be leaving work right now, but will check my pms at home. I am heading to teach dance later, but I have a student teacher, so if you call, I will be able to step away and chat with you.

Hugs friend, I am here for you.

Peace

Yeah, Lexapro is a lot more likely to cause gains than Wellbutrin. I actually lost without trying on Wellbutrin. You might consider ditching the Lexapro altogether. The only thing is that Wellbutrin can cause anxiety which the Mexapro can help with. But you could also take a benzodiazepine (Xanaz, Ativan, Clonopin) as needed to help with anxiety.

About the psychiatrist - why is he/she not covered? Is it because that particular doc is not in network? Because I don't think it's legal for insurance to cover physical health care but not mental. If I were you I would do some research into what your insurance covers and why they aren't covering this doctor. If it's as simple as that you can make an appointment to see a doc who is in your network.

My insurance is Blue Cross/ Blue Shield. She said that they would not cover outpatient mental health...whatever that means. I am very surprised. I have insurance where I can go wherever.

Do you think that I can just stop the Lexapro or do I need to go to every other day? It is just 10 mg at this point.

It is very frustrating how most insurance comp. will not cover "mental health" (eating disorders fall under mental health too)issues....and that word "mental helath" does not help...most of the time it is just a chemiacl imbalance. Good luck to you, I know it is not easy!

Beth that is the biggest pile of bull, not covering mental health . . . !! Makes me so mad. Check your policy and make sure they really do not cover it, because I thought there was a federal law requiring parity between mental and non-mental health care. Although as you are self-employed that might not count.

I am so sorry you are going through so much right now. It seems like everything is opening the door to new struggles. You are in my prayers, and I am sure that the Lord is leading you on the right, yet squiggley path.

Hugs to you, dear friend. I am here if you need anything!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!

I am sorry I haven't been on here lately. DH has been working on our computer at home. I have been busy as well.

I did the shake thing a few days. I was able to get my weight back down to 136. I feel a little better.

I think my meds are working better. I am feeling much better. I do have a few side effects.....headaches, twitching on the left side of my upper lip, yawning.

DH and I are getting ready to leave to go out on our date. We have dinner plans at an upscale place. I will try to be as good as I can but it is VD! He was so sweet. He bought me some Russel Stovers SF boxed chocolates, some sleep wear and other items.

I will get with you all tomorrow. I do have to take DD to the doctor. She has been complaining of her stomach hurting for two weeks know. I thought it was just constipation but I am beginning to wonder now. Also, the kids are out of school.
I will try to get on though.

It's good to hear from you Beth. I've been really missing you. And, so glad that you are doing better.

Have a wonderful evening with DH. Please enjoy yourself and don't worry too much if you indulge in something.

I hope DD is alright. Poor thing.

Good morning everyone!

Well, I cancelled DD's appointment this morning. Last night while Nana was here she had a massive diaper. She said she feels much better this morning. I think her tummy problems have stemmed from just being constipated. I figured that it was just best if I watched her over the weekend to see if she has any more symptoms than to just expose her to more germs.

Our date last night was so nice! We ate at a place called Luna's. They had a Valentine's Day menu to pick from.....check it out!

Valentines Day Menu

Appetizers
*Poached Lobster Tail and Avocado Panzanella
with shallots and Tomatoes in a sherry Vinaigrette

Steak and Romaine
grilled salad with blue cheese and crispy
Prosciutto served with Peppercorn Vinaigrette

*Lump Crab Meat Fondue
served with crispy Crustini

Entrees
*Muscovy Duck Breast
grilled and served with Pomegranate
Seeds, dried fruit couscous and baby bok choy

Skate and Langoustine
sauteed and served with certified organic ratatouille and beurre noisette

*Steak Diane
in a cream mushroom cognac Demi-glace
Potato rosettes and haricot vert

*Desserts
A Special dessert for two will be prepared of our Chef
And will include the following
Orange Creme Brulee, White Chocolate Mousse, Double Chocolate Almond Biscotti, Chocolate Truffles and
Fried Cheesecake

DH had the lobster appetizer, the steak, and the dessert. I had the crab fondue, the duck, and the dessert. It was so yummy and so not low carb! I knocked myself out of ketosis of course. I didn't dare weigh myself this morning. I will have to work to get back in ketosis. We had a nice time though. They had a piano lounge. We enjoyed the music before we ate dinner.

We have a busy at home weekend planned. We are going to be cleaning out the attic and moving some things around in the big boy's room on Saturday. Sunday we are going to see my cousin (who is a Christian artist) sing at a church in a nearby town. I know our weekend will seem short with all the activity.

Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on me so no one worries.....

Three of my kids have been sick (especially the two younger ones). I took them to the doctor yesterday and he said they just had bad colds. Well, yesterday afternoon and all night the two younger ones had temps of 104. Every 3 hours we were giving them medicine to keep the temp down. I called the doctor this morning, and he wants me to bring them in to test for flu.

While all this is going on, my grandmother (dad's mom who was 98) has been gradually deteriorating and passed away yesterday around lunch. She is in NC and we will be going there for the funeral tomorrow. It has been a hard time, but I know she is in heaven with Jesus and that brings me a lot of comfort. It hurts to see my daddy grieve. His dad died 16 years ago and that was very hard on me to see my dad cry. We never dreamed that my grandmother would live this long past grand-daddy. He died quietly in his sleep and she died quietly with all her children around her. Her last day here on earth she was surrounded by family. We have a singing family and they spent all day singing old songs to her (all six of them, spouses, grandchildren, great grand children). They practically had revival in her room. I wish I could have been there. My parents called me to let me hear them sing. Although she couldn't respond to them other than squeezing a hand I know that it must have been a glorious homecoming for her. The last thing she spoke (to one of the nurses days before) was that she saw the most beautiful angels in her room. How wonderful it must have been to see Jesus and also to be reunited with her husband, mother, and dad.

I would appreciate your prayers the next few days. I probably won't be back on here until Friday or the weekend.

Here is an article they did on my grandmother in 2006. My dad is sitting right next to her. I love seeing her smiling face in this picture.

Beth, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother, but how blessed she is to be in Heaven right now. I will be praying for you and your family during these next few days. I'm sure there will be some tough times, but the Lord will be with you to give you peace and comfort.

I hope the kids are alright to travel. Will be praying for them also.

What a wonderful Christian heritage we both have. It really is something to be thankful for.

Sending lots of love your way.

God bless you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss....

What a beautiful way to spend the end of your earthly time, surrounded by the voices of those you love, in song. We should all be so lucky.

Hope the kids are on the mend. We are still going through it here. Round 3 I believe (or is it 4, I am losing track!)
