Thank you Mandy, Sue, Diana, and Monet. You ladies seem to have a much better perspective on things than I do now. I need that feedback and support. You all are right about looking at the psychiatrist at being a specialist. It really helped me when you told me that.

I did feel a little better today. I took my first dosage this morning. I am very encouraged. I also didn't have the cravings today like I did yesterday. It was so bad in the afternoon that I ate 3 SF popsicles and a lot of almonds. That was after eating an Atkins bar earlier in the day. Today I had a shake for breakfast, salad and smoked turkey for lunch, and wings and celery for dinner. I still am having trouble controlling the unsweet tea w/ splenda and coffee w/ splenda. I use the splenda way too much. It's a hard habit to break. I am just glad that I didn't cheat today at all.

I am fixing to go get on the treadmill (after I get the kids in the bed). It is just good to feel like doing it you know. Well, gotta go.....kiddos are fighting.

Well, I don't know. I guess that I'm just fed up and had enough of what I have become. I want to change. I got to thinking about what I do after work. Most of the time it's nothing. When you stop and think about it, what is 20 minutes of cardio or 60 minutes of weight training out of your day? The time I have spent doing nothing can be better spent in making a better me. Like I said, I'm just fed up and it's time to do something about it.

...and the fact that my place of employment is having a biggest loser challange. Winner gets 200 bucks. Mostly though, I just want to change myself and make a better me.

I was on Welbutrin (sp?) at one time. It's good stuff!

Hey, I hope you get feeling better about yourself. From what I know of you, you are a wonderfull, caring person. I'd take you on my team any day.

just cause you deserve it!

Take care,
Phil

Thanks Phil. I am praying that as I start to feel better I will want to exercise more. I want to get back down to 130 so bad. Sometimes though you just have to do what you can do while you are going through "life junk". I am ready to feel like myself again.

Beth~I believe that very soon you will feel like yourself again. It takes time to get all the meds sorted out. I, also, wouldn't worry about the Splenda right now. It's now the enemy, and in fact is one of the things that makes this WOE livable. If you feel bad about it, you might consider switching to Stevia. I don't know much about it. I have some, but don't use it often because I like Splenda better; an acquired taste, from what I hear

Have a wonderful, peaceful day.

Yeah, I think I am trying to grasp at anything that can change my weight gain right now. I should have stayed off the scales this morning but curiosity got the best of me. My weight has ballooned to 136.8. I don't know what to do. I am still testing positive for ketones. That makes me feel better. I am just TERRIFIED that I am gaining my weight back and have no control over it. What am I going to do? Not eat? I know that some of it IS my fault because of the cheats. I am trying to tell myself that if I will get back strict that it will go back down. Strict and exercise.....hopefully the key to get back to 132/133. It's so hard when you have cheated. Lord give me strength!!!!

I was just reminded of something. My weight always goes up a couple of pounds around TOM time. And that is always around the 7th of the month. Maybe that is why my weight is going up and not everything else. OH, I hope that I am right. Time will tell. At the moment it does make me feel a little better.

Hi Beth,
Don't stress out! You'll be fine, just relax, your weight will go down.
Did you rule out the medication you're taking as a culprit?

Just wanted to share this with you, "For God did not give us the Spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind."

Do you think the weight gain could be from the meds, Beth?

Thank you Diana. That verse has been in my heart lately. Your post was just confirmation to me.

Sue, I do think my meds have something to do with the gain. I know that one of the medicines that I am taking makes it hard for me to have control....I get in that "I don't care" mood. I am hoping that I can get off that particular medicine soon. I am taking 3 different ones....Lexapro, Wellbutrin, and Xanax (as needed). The Xanax is the one that makes me feel calm and also the one that causes me to let my guard down on what I eat. It can also make me feel a little depressed which can send me into the munchies. I thought I was going to make it yesterday without having to take it but in the evening my nerves got bad again. I am encouraged that it took so long though yesterday. It just means to me that this new medicine is helping already. Once it gets good in my system I believe I will not have to take the Xanax.

I was curious just now so I did a search on Xanax. Guess what I found in the inactive ingredients?

Inactive ingredients: Cellulose, corn starch, docusate sodium, lactose, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide and sodium benzoate. In addition, the 0.5 mg tablet contains FD&C Yellow No. 6 and the 1 mg tablet contains FD&C Blue No. 2.

Wow, go figure that! Well, I just can't let myself get too obsessed with all this. I am going to have to give all of this over to God.

So far today I have been good....Atkins shake for breakfast, gum and water for snack, grilled chicken salad w/ one pack ranch and blueberry LC yogurt w/ flax for lunch, also tea w/ 2 splendas. I am going to get busy cleaning the house to keep my mind off snacks this afternoon.

We are having bad weather in Georgia today. There have been some tornadoes that have developed (Alabama) already from this storm. Pray for our safety today. I am keeping watch over this storm. You know now that I am thinking about it Diana, that verse is for this situation as well.

Thankful we only had rain and a little wind today. I was praying all day. I can't imagine the devastation that all those who were effected by the tornadoes face. It makes what I am dealing with seem so small.

I realized this morning that I had not posted that I have been very diligent with my exercise lately. I am very proud of myself for that. You ladies know how hard it has been for me to get regular with exercise. Right now it is something that I have control over.

I did good yesterday with my eating. Here is the run down.

B~Atkins shake=1
L~Grilled chicken salad(8) w/ ranch(2), LC yogurt(3)=13
S~2 slices of cheese made into crackers=1
D~Cabbage and Hamburger w/ sc and Parmesan=7

T~22

Ketone stick:small

I am obsessing with calories this morning. For some reason I have been thinking about it. Maybe because I have been paying attention to how many I am burning on the treadmill. In relationship to what I am eating it is only a drop in the bucket. I have also been hearing a lot about it on the TV. I need help balancing my thoughts out on this subject! Thanks!

Good job on the exercise Beth. However, I am NOT going to pat you on the back with your obsession with calories. I think one problem people have with losing is that they don't get ENOUGH calories, especially from fat. The more I read, the more I am convinced that eating plenty of fat is healthy and will help us to lose. So, please, no more worries about calories. It's just not a calories in, calories out deal.

Also, even though you may be burning a very small amount of calories when you are actually exercising, you continue to burn them at a higher rate for hours after you exercise. And, by building the muscles in your legs by exercise, overall, you are going to burn more calories throughout the day.

See I knew you would straighten me out Sue! I am blessed to have you keeping me in check. I will let it go! It's just relating to my little freak out I am having regarding my weight gain and clothes getting tight. I am so miserable in that department. I wish I could just stick a pin in me and deflate. I need to start lifting weights. Are you still lifting?

I have to go get DS#3. I will be back later.

Dear Beth,

Ok, here goes...I don't know if I have shared this with you, but I am taking the anti-depressant Celexa, and do carry Xanax with me in the event of a panic attack.

I am slightly over sig weight, and have not lost any weight since beginning the medication last September. I do think that all of your weight issues are medication related. Mine definitely are.

You are doing so well to keep exercising...as a matter of fact, you are an inspiration to me

I have an appointment in April to discuss the possibility of weaning off the Celexa or just plugging along with it. Personally, I have noticed a vast improvement in my day to day anxiety level, and I really only needed the Xanax when my kids went to CA last summer and right before DH finally got his wonderful job.

Hopefully your medications will level out soon.

Hugs honey!

Dear Beth. Think about cutting out your weigh ins. Take the scale, and put it aside until you are feeling better (send it to your Mom's house!). Your health comes first. You are so well versed in this WOE, that it certainly won't be difficult for you to stay on track for that amount of time. and your clothing is always a good gauge. You just don't need any other pressure at this time in your life, and you certainly don't need to count calories. Keep your good fats high, and make sure you are getting enough vitamin B-6, it'll help with your weight and mood! (Avacados are a fantastic source!)

So sorry you have had these same issues. I really hope both of us can figure all of this out. I was reading in Dr. A's book last night about it. There are many natural alternatives that we can try. I wish I had read all of this earlier. Of course, with the chest pains I still would have gone to the doctor and done what they said anyway. I really don't want to have to stay on this long. The thought of NEVER reaching my goal is bad enough....gaining weight is horrifying to me.

You are right....I need to stay off the scales...especially now that I really have no control over what it says. I just need to concentrate on eating right and exercising.
I appreciate the scripture. I am currently working on writing all those that apply to my situation at the moment. Keep them coming!

Your menu looks good yesterday. Hamburger and cabbage sounds so good, but without the sour cream, and parm cheese just not the same.

Take it easy this weekend, Beth.

See it pays to stick around LCF, cause I love cabbage and burgers; but never thought to use them together as a meal. Thanks for the tip .
