I had my doc wean me off the Lexapro because of the weight I was gaining. My anxiety & panic attacks started the same time perimenopause did for me. I take SAM-e and have no problems with anxiety or panic now. Have you had a hormone panel done? Women can go into perimenopause as young as their late 20's. The fluctuating hormones can cause the panic & anxiety-I had never had a history of anxiety before. Congrats on your strong will! It's all about getting those blood sugar levels stabile and keeping them that way-hopefully your cravings will die down soon.

Lisa~they did check my hormones and said everything was good.
Monet~
Deb~Thanks for the love
Sue~There was a loud whistle that came from my mouth when I saw your new picture. Who cares if you haven't lost any more pounds on the scales. You look fabulous!!!!!

I lost another pound today... 134.6! I wish the rest of my day had gone as good as this morning's weigh in. I have felt just wiped out today....physically and emotionally. It doesn't help that my little ones have been in a very bad mood today as well. I think we are all just tired from yesterday. I felt it this morning when I woke up. I felt all upset inside...it's this feeling my chest gets when I know it's gonna be a hard day for my nerves.

Eating has been OK. I did have a chocolate craving this afternoon that I gave into legally. I never ate dinner tonight...just not real hungry.

Menu from yesterday:

B~Atkins shake=2
S~Coffee w/ HNH(1), splenda(2)-3
L~McDonald's-Double Quarter Pounder w/ cheese w/o bun or ketchup(2), mayo(.5), side salad(3), ranch(1), tea w/ splenda(2)=8.5
S~Peanuts(2)=2
D~Buffet-steak(0), shrimp(0), squash casserole(3), raw veggies(2)=5

T~20.5

HEY SKINNY CHICK!

I was on depression medicine at one time. It changed me from a crabby guy who didn't want to leave the house and was afraid to go to malls because there were just too many people to a more relaxed guy who liked to be around people. I knew when it was working when I went to an Iowa Hawkeye football game with 70,000 people around me and I was relaxed. It did wonders for me. I found myself wanting to get out and do more things with my wife and kids. I also hunted more. I stopped taking it last summer when I ran out. I decided to not tell anyone and see what happened. Sometimes I am depressed but not near a bad as I once was. I hope you can get on some good stuff that gets you back to way you want to be.

Take care of yourself!

Phil

Beth, do you do anything for exercise? I always think I hate to exercise and dread it, and then I do it and realize how much better my anxiety is if I move my buns once in a while. I have some really nice soothing yoga and stretching DVDs. Cardio helps too. Anxiety is the pits.

Good morning Beth. I pray that you woke up feeling bright and looking forward to a good day. (TGIF)

I remember a few years ago I was feeling anxiety when I never had before. I know it was hormones, and my nurse practitioner suggested I go on depression meds. I told her I wasn't depressed, just anxious. Well, she said I should think about it. She also suggested BCPs at the time, but I said no, because I had felt horrible on them the two years I took them. Well, fast forward a few years, and I started taking the BCPs, not because of anxiety, but for the awful hot flashes, night sweats and sleeplessness I was experiencing, as well as migraines. I feel like these have changed my life. I know they make my weight loss slow, but I will trade that any day for the other things.

I hope you and your doc can get the meds worked out right so that you feel better. I am thinking about you and praying for you.

Sorry I haven't been online. It's been a busy weekend. My eating has been under control and good. I finally got fed up yesterday with the water retention and took a fluid pill. I couldn't stand it any longer. My weight was 132.6 this morning. It feels so much better not having the extra fluid. I am sure that it will creep back up the next couple of days but maybe it will help me get back on track. I'm sure some will have other opinions about what I did. Know that I don't do it often. In fact, I rarely take fluid pills.

Anyway, I don't have time to be on here now. I will check in later.

If you're sure the extra weight was water, a diuretic won't hurt occasionally.

Just a water pill.. you can buy them over the counter.. if you hold a lot of water.. you can take them.. some people take them around TOM..if they have this problem..

Hope it is OK that I answered that Beth.. I have never taken them.. so you may have more to add to that.. or correct me if I am wrong..lol.. It wouldn't be the first time..

That is fine Monet! I wasn't here to answer anyway. It's just like everyone said....pill to help you get rid of bloating. You can take Midol and get the same effect. I think I have been ovulating and that is why I had so much water retention. Anyway, I just feel better.

Hope everyone is having a good night.

Do what you need to do to feel better. I am on a mild prescription diuretic and it has been a lifesaver. Swelling up 8 lbs in one day with fluid is no fun! My hubby didn't believe me that day and had to check out the scale-he was so worried I made an appt with my doc. Just another symptom of perimenopause. What's that old country song about being a woman...

Wow! I think I would faint in my bathroom if my scales went 8 lbs up in a day! You definitely need something to help with fluid if that is happening. My parents take fluid pills every day...guess it is for their heart or blood pressure. Anyway, they let me have one at times. I am not ready to be going through perimenopause!!!! Men have it soo easy!

Sometimes it's hard to be a woman (you ain't kidding sister)
Giving all your love to just one man (one's enough, believe me)
You'll have bad times (you think?)
And he'll have good times
Doin things that you don't understand (huhh?? I'm perimenopausal not retarded)
But if you love him (sure why not?)
You'll forgive him (are you kidding? He's not getting makeup sex-yet)
Even though he's hard to understand (what's hard to understand-scratch, eat, pass gas, snore)
And if you love him
Oh, be proud of him
Cause after all he's just a man

Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to (as long as it ain't nothing else-I'm tired)
And something warm to come to (no problem with all my hot flashes)
when nights are cold and lonely

Sorry Beth-I couldn't resist!
