Beth, I'm sorry to hear about your dad, but glad that everything seems to be ok.

I am also going to get a new notebook to start a fresh one for this year. Obviously I am going to have to go back and catch up on your journal to understand about your medicine and cholesterol that you mentioned, etc. I will do that right now! Can't wait to actually TALK to you!!

I'm so sorry about your dad, Beth. So many emotions to go through, but the Lord will give you strength. I will be praying that what they are doing for him works so that he won't have another one of these mini-strokes, and that he will heal and get stronger.

You have done much better than me eating wise. I'm back on plan, but it has been a frustrating month. Congrats on staying strong through all the parties, family times and not feeling like yourself.

I've missed you.

Hi Krysta, Sue, Monet, and Godsbeloved!!!!

Thank you all for your prayers. My dad says he still feels a little dizzy but he seems to be getting back to himself. Everyone came to my house today and we had some time together. My mom cooked a wonderful meal. I am really thankful my brother was around when this happened to my dad. It is good that he can be there to help mom and see to it that dad is doing OK during the day. He has another week here and then he'll be back in California.

I didn't have an Induction day of eating but I was good. I forgot to get myself a notebook at the store so that will have to wait until tomorrow.

After everyone left tonight I got on the treadmill for 30 minutes and did almost a mile and half. One day down 364 more to go.

Another habit I want to pick back up is drinking more water. I have really let myself go on drinking mostly water. I hate to admit it but I picked back up diet drinks over the holidays. I am planning to cut those out totally again. I had none today. Next is splenda tea.

So here is my menu w/o totals for today.....gotta get back in the swing of things.

Breakfast: LC yogurt

Lunch: Wendy's-Double cheeseburger with bacon, mayo, lc ketchup & Caesar salad (only 1/2 pk of dressing), tea w/ splenda

Snack: couple of pecans & taste of sf choc. pudding (was making a pie for my mom)

Dinner: Roasted hen, asparagus, greens, couple of sliced carrots, salad w/ ranch bacon dressing

You sound better, Beth.

So glad your dad is doing better; such a relief. Sounds like you had a great New Year's with family. Isn't it nice when moms cook?

Great job on the exercise. Maybe we'll both get to goal this year!

Good late morning everyone! Hi Thritygirl....good to see you here! Sue....we are going to say that we WILL get to goal this year....not maybe! Krysta, I am so proud of you for losing 4 pounds your first day....so jealous too!

So, I forgot to weigh yesterday before eating anything. Would you believe that I really took a break from everything this holiday season.....weighing, ketone sticks, notebook journaling, and of course, keeping up with my journal on here. That was a major big step for me. Anyways, I weighed this morning. My scales said 133.2. I really am pretty proud of myself for maintaining throughout the holidays. I am really proud of myself for sticking to plan except for a few taste....for not throwing away and going berserk with my eating.....for not letting myself have any excuses due to all that I was going through. I am starting this year out at a good weight. Now I WANT TO GET TO THE 120'S AND I AM DETERMINED TO SEE THEM THIS MONTH!!!!! Like I said before, this is the year to concentrate on exercise and continue to adjust my WOE for a healthy me. I recognize that yesterday's fast food wasn't the best choice for me healthy wise. It was just the easiest with all that was going on. I know I can't be perfect but I want to do better. Like I could have chosen a grilled chicken breast and the Caesar salad yesterday and that would have been much better. Live and learn.

It is soooo cold today here....right now at 11:50 our temperature says 24 degrees. I think today will be staying in and getting all my Christmas decorations down and back in the attic. Plus, DS #3 has been sick all morning. I am hoping it is just sinus drainage and not a virus. It seems it never fails.....when I get my carpet cleaned one of the kids gets sick and throws up on it. Oh well....it's just carpet.

Hope everyone has a great LC day. I am planning to go to Linda Sue's website to see what I can make with the leftover turkey and ham I have in the fridge. Maybe some turkey salad and some hot casserole with the ham.

Today's weight: 133.2
Ketone stick this morning: moderate to large
Water yesterday: don't really know but better
Exercise yesterday: 1.4 miles on treadmill (30 minutes)

I'm not sure that I want to get a scale that measures my fat. That would just be too depressing for me. I have lots of it.

You should be so proud of yourself for doing so well during the holidays.

You're right, WE WILL GET TO GOAL THIS YEAR!

120's, here she comes!

I made a really tasty casserole with diced ham, broccoli and alfredo sauce, topped it with cheddar cheese and baked it till heated through. I used bottled alfredo, but I bet it would be even better with homemade! Just a suggestion for the ham. Will doesn't like plain ham, so I rarely get it, but it sure sounds good, now that I am talking about it!

I have gotten in such a bad habit of sleeping late.....well, I will blame it on the kids. If they were up earlier then I would be too. I am going to have to start getting them up earlier or we are going to have a terrible time when school starts.

DD had me up early around 4 am this morning. I don't know what was wrong. She seems fine now (just a little whiny) and DS #3 is much better today. Hopefully we are all over whatever was attacking us yesterday.

We have a basketball game to go to today. Which means we will more than likely be eating out. Rules for me with eating out.....

1. Water to drink (I end up drinking way too much tea w/ splenda)
2. Judge what I have eaten for the week...if I have had too much red meat only eat chicken out...if I have been good I can have a steak...trying to watch my calories a bit now
3. Eat very little dressing on my salad..restaurant dressings are usually high in carbs
4. Maybe only eat half of my meal and take the rest home.
5. Don't eat at buffets or places where I know I will be tempted to eat bad.

How is that for making sure my carbs stay low while eating out?

So, I did good yesterday. I do have to say that I was a little challenged with eating some lc treats but I resisted. There is something about telling yourself you can't have something that makes you want it more. If I had not committed to eating perfect then that lc pb fudge wouldn't have bothered me at all.

I lost a little more this morning....132.8(that's a .4 pound loss). I just love the 132's.

Menu from yesterday:

B~Protein shake=3
L~2 egg(1.2) omelet w/ spinach(0), onion(.5), bacon(0), 2 T. feta cheese(.8), cheddar cheese(.5), more bacon(0) on the side, coffee w/ 1 T. H&H(.5), splenda(1)=4.5
D~Turkey & Spinach Parmesan casserole(4), sm. salad(2) w/ bacon ranch(.5), tea w/ splenda(1)=7.5
S~Coffee w/ H&H(1), jello(0)=1 (can you tell I was craving sweets?)

T~16

Ketone stick this morning: moderate
Water intake yesterday: 64 oz.
Exercise yesterday: 1 mile weight loss challenge on treadmill!!
Water %: 46.9 (up from yesterday)
Fat %: 32.4 (down from yesterday)

So, your kids must not be back in school yet. Mine went back yesterday. Enjoy the sleeping in while you can. Moms work hard and deserve some rest. I just wish I could get some. My sleeping habits are very poor lately.

I think your restaurant rules are good. Maybe you could take some dressing in a little tub in a cooler with you when you go to a restaurant so you can know how many carbs you are getting in that. Personally, I don't do that, but I know that restaurants do add sugar to their dressings.

I had to send the rest of the Atkins Bars with DH to work because if they are here I will eat them. I ate one yesterday and didn't feel very good afterwards. So, I'm trying to stay away from treats and snacking also.

You menu looks good.

Great work, Beth! Your menu is fantastic! (BTW, I love that chx/spinach casserole, too. I make that topping for lots of my other casseroles now. It's great over italian meatballs or sausage!)

Your numbers are looking great, too!

Minor threadjack: SUE! I had to laugh at your post! Weds, I stuck all of my Atkins bars in DH's briefcase to get them out of the house! I hope he doesn't eat them all at once!

Good job on 132...next is 131, right? Is the PB fudge you are talking about the one that Sheila posted on the recipe board? That looked really good and I was thinking of trying it once I can add back PB.

Hey everyone!

Sue-the kids don't have to go back to school until the 8th. I ran out of bars last week and told myself that I wouldn't buy anymore. They were great to get through the holidays with though.

Deb-That topping is fantastic. I will have to try it with more things.

Monet-don't be afraid to have plenty of LC choices in your diet. Even if you eat more than you should it would be better than getting bored and falling back on old favorites. Why not try some new things this go around and see if it helps you.

Krysta-I am ready for 131! I do believe that is the recipe that I tried over the holidays....it's the one with pb, protein powder, splenda, etc. Very good.

Jaime-Good to see you in my journal again. Thank you for your support!

I am sorry that it has taken me so long to get on here. There has been much drama at our house last night and this morning. First of all, last night our business went through the roof. We received 11 water damage calls. I guess with all the cold weather the pipes are bursting left and right. I had to get my brother and a friend to come help us out. We had all of our trucks out working. My brother and friend ended up having to spend the night with us.

Early this morning around 4 am again. DD woke me up with a fever. She said her ears were hurting. I had to call the doctor this morning and they were totally booked. They sent me over to family practice which couldn't give me an appointment until almost 5pm. Since then she has thrown up all over my bed and the floor. UGH! DH's mom is coming up to help me. The older boys have BB practice late this afternoon so she will take them while I am at the doctor's. I don't know when I will see DH. He has already told me that he will be working tomorrow.

I tell you I am so stressed right now. I am totally resisting the urge to eat. I did well yesterday. I did have a nut attack but I know that it was totally due to the stress of having to take all the kids to the ballgame by myself to a place I didn't know where I was going. I absolutely hate driving in an area where I don't know.....trying to follow directions....kids running my nerves up the flagpole. DH was going to go with me but last minute more calls came in and he just couldn't. He also made us late. It was very stressful. I did find the place after much confusion. When I got there I reached for the nuts in the car and just started eating. At least it was nuts and not something high carb.

My weight....I lost some more. Yippee! I weighed 132.4....another .4 loss. I wasn't able to exercise last night. By the time we got back late from the ballgame and I got every one's room ready and all the clothes ironed it was just impossible. DD had to sleep with us and that's where the treadmill is. I plan on getting some exercise in today I hope.

Menu from yesterday:

B~3 egg omelet w/ onion, spinach, cheese, and bacon=3.6
L~Protein shake=2
S~nuts=4
D~Chickfila grilled chicken salad w/ carrots & most of the pk. of ranch (6), tea w/ splenda(2)=8
S~coffee w/ cream(1), splenda(2)=3

T~20.6

Ketone stick this morning: small
Water yesterday: 64 oz.
Exercise yesterday: running around with my head cut off
Fat %: 32.3 (down from yesterday)
Water %: 46.9 (same as yesterday)

Oh Beth, hang in there! I know how tough it is with a sicky! Plus, with your business so busy and the other kids needing you, I have no idea how you do it!

Thank God for family and friends. The fact that you have such a support system speaks volumes about how amazing you truly are! You live a good life, and are surrounded by so many who love and care about you! Praise the Lord for that!

I pray you and DH get to reconnect over the weekend, that DD is soon feeling better, and you get a little time to relax. (Above all, I pray that there will be NO MORE THROW UP to be cleaned up! Just got past 2 weeks of that myself. Why can they never throw up on the tile or an easy-to-clean area!)
