Hey skinny chick!
You're a lady of the 80's? SHUT UP! I honestly guessed your age in the mid to late 20's. Just how old are you? (Um...yeah...good question to be asking a woman.) Don't slap my over that question. I havn't been to a single reunion in the 18 years I have been out of school. Hey, that cap't crunch...he's EVIL! Stay clear away from him...and that cookie dough too. That's bad news. How about 32 oz. of ice cold water instead? Speaking of which, I thristy. Must have water. Hope you are having a great night! Take care, Phil

Good morning!
I so want to have a bad attitude today...but I'm not. My weight went up like it has EVERY week for the past months. I weighed 134.2 this morning. It just proves that I am really dealing with those awful hormones. I had a chocolate attack yesterday....moodiness....and finished the day off just feeling horrible. I just looked back in my journal at last month. Here is the quote from last month this SAME DAY!! Quote:
![]() Great to have notes!!! My weight that day was 133.4. The month before on 7/7 I weighed 134 and the month before that 6/7 I weighed 134.4. So, do we see a trend? I have been this same weight since June! In some ways it helps me but in other ways it is VERY frustrating!!! I watched a movie that I rented last night. It was called "The Ultimate Gift". You have got to watch this movie....AWESOME! Here's a description of the movie: "When his wealthy grandfather dies, trust fund baby Jason Stevens anticipates a big inheritance. Instead, his grandfather has devised a crash course on life with twelve tasks – or “gifts” – designed to challenge Jason in improbable ways, sending him on a journey of self-discovery and forcing him to determine what is most important in life: money or happiness." You can see what it looks like by going to The Ultimate Gift Experience So, today I have to get some things done around this house. I have company coming on Friday so I have to utilize this weekend because my weeks are crazy! I have a baby shower to go to tomorrow. I WILL NOT cheat!!! Sunday we are helping some friends of ours with their business books. Menu from yesterday: B~PB Flax muffin(3.2), PB cream cheese(2.2)=5.4 L~Chopped sirloin(0), topped w/ bacon(0) & mushrooms(2), salad(3), ranch(2), tea w/ splenda(2)=9 S~PB choc. treats(4)=4 D~Cabbage & Hamburger(5.2), more PB treats(4), coffee w/ HC(.4)=9.6 T~28 Ketone stick this morning: Large ![]() Water yesterday: didn't keep up Exercise: NONE....felt too bad Today's thought: What you weighed won't matter a hill of beans when you die, but what you do with your life and the people you touch will be remembered forever!

Great quote Beth, and so very true.
Well, we are both officially in a stall, and it's not fun. So many hormonal issues to deal with; us women don't have it easy with weight loss. Don't worry about your chocolate attack. At least it was low carb. I was thinking of making some choc pb treats myself yesterday, but I'd already had my coconut bark, so decided against it. ![]() Hope you get a lot of work done around the house. That's what I need to do today. I've been a slacker this week. That movie sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out.

From one 80's shorty to another...
I can seriously relate with you. I had truly been battling many hormonal issues since the birth of 2nd DS. Consider getting an appointment with your GYN.
Long story short, I was complaining of multiple issues to GYN post partum, and to me, they all seemed to lead back to hormones. He kept telling me that I was too young to have those problems, and to ride it out. Well, a year and a half later, nothing had changed. I went back and insisted on tests. Guess what. I was right. My estrogen and testosterone were WAY out of whack. He was shocked and put me on hormone replacement therapy immediately. I think we are about the same age, and had our last babies about the same length of time ago. Some of my complaints were inability to lose weight, fatigue, no energy and hair loss (plus lots more). I have seen VAST improvement in all areas. Just a thought... ![]() Oh, and my LC materials include: DANDR, Atkins for Life, The Atkins for Life Kit(with the card file), Dr Atkins New Diet Cookbook, a folder full of recipes Christmas wishes: backyard landscaping, bookshelves, new clothes (in a size 6 that I hope to be in by then ), new watch and anything that sparkles!(Better late than never! )Have fun at the shower and with your company! Be true to yourself!

All I can say is, I'm sorry. I KNOW how frustrating it is when you hit a stall. (5 months on the Pill taught me PLENTY of patience!) I honestly wish I could tell you the magic secret about how to break through this, but I can't. I don't know the secret. Maybe you should search the threads on here about breaking stalls or on Plateaus. I know there was a Stall Breaking thread on here awhile ago. Whatever you do, I know you will make it over this bump in your LC journey. If there is anything I can do, you just let me know!!

I've been looking up stuff on plateaus and stalls and I came across this, I thought I would share it with you, in case you are are interested. It might be something:
Foods that Might Interfere with Weight Loss Everybody reacts differently to the ingredients that are contained in processed foods. Some people can tolerate an additive quite well, while others find that it causes extended stalls in weight loss. Here are a few foods and ingredients to be aware of: Citric Acid (diet soft drinks, tart sugar-free dessert items) Aspartame (diet soft drinks, most artificially-sweetened items) Cheese Salt Nuts Caffeine Sugar Alcohols Cottage Cheese Alcoholic Beverages Eliminate, or strictly limit, one of these items for a period of at least a week or longer. If at the end of that time, you begin losing weight again, you've found the culprit. If not, try the same elimination test with another item. |

Thanks Krysta! I tried to look up some too and what I read was lots of conflicting reports. I have been thinking about it all evening. I even went to Fitday and tried to put in a menu for a day. It is really hard to get the right foods in there (especially times where you eat out).
Anyway, someone was talking about calories on one thread I was reading. I started looking back in my food journal. Do you think I am maybe eating too much protein or too many calories? Looks like I have plenty of fat going on. I realize lately that I have been getting a good amount of carbs from things like cheese, nuts, dressing, mayo etc. I think I am going to try eating mostly veggies and small portions on meat a while and see what happens. I am going to concentrate on eating many fresh foods and cut back on process stuff (cheese, cream, bars/shakes, cream cheese etc.) I know this will up my carbs but it will lower my calories. What are your thoughts? |

Well, Dr Atkins says in his book that as you get closer to goal and eat more carbs, your fat intake should go down proportionaly. By the time you are on Maintenance, your fat shouldn't be more than 50% of your total daily intake, whereas on Induction it can be up around 70%-80%, or more! So if you are going to try and cut calories, you should focus on cutting fat calories, rather than protein. I would definitely put a day into Fitday, just to see where you are percentage-wise (especailly your fat). Then you will know better where to go from there.
Also, as I was thinking about it, Dr. A also recommends cutting out certain foods to see if that is causing a stall from yeast. I haven't unpacked my book yet, so I can't give you the exact list right this second, but it's similar to the one I posted earlier, basically any kind of fermented or mold containing food, ie: nuts, cheese, sour cream, vinegars, etc., anything that yeast thrives on. Sometimes just cutting those things out will help you start losing again. And I don't think cutting out the bars, etc, would hurt, either. At least then you know if they are the culprit. But just remember if you cut them out, to add them back one at a time so you can see which one (if any) causes you to stall. Then, of course, there is the Fat Fast and Meat Fast, and also the yogurt Fast that was propular here a few years back. You would have to look up info on them, since I've never done any of them myself, but supposedly you only do them for a couple of days and then go back to Induction and work your way back up. Supposedly they have helped a lot of people break through a plateau. Last edited by KrystaLyn : 09-08-2007 at 06:41 AM. |

Thank you everyone for being so supportive to me! I am the most blessed person to have all of you in my life!
Krysta: Good information! I will go back to my book and see what I can do to read up. I just think I have my percentages off or something. I am trying to eat it all! I know I have to be eating too much protein and fat. I amaze myself of how big of a steak I can eat! I thought for sure I might go up this morning. BUT I didn't!!! I lost 1.2 pounds putting me at 133 this morning! Now if I can be really good today I might break even for the week(132.8). Next week I am going to try some experimentation with my diet to see if I can get my body out of this rut. I have got to get back on my treadmill. I have been sabotaging myself by putting my exercise off until the evenings but then the evenings come and I get too busy. So next week...exercise in the mornings. You guys may just have to wait on my post until after lunch if I am running behind. I got my Netrition order yesterday! I have many new things to try!!! ![]() I don't have much time today. Got to get ready for a baby shower. Feeling a little better today. ![]() Menu from yesterday: B~Flax muffin(2.6) w/ cream cheese(1.4), coffee w/ HC(1)=5 L~Double Cheeseburger pattie(2), w/ onion(1), pickle(0), lettuce(.5), bacon(0), mayo(1)=5 S~Atkins Endulge bar(2), 1 cup CCD milk(3)=5 S~2 slices of cheese made into crackers= .6 D~Large salad(3), tuna salad(1), ranch(1)=5 S~Coffee w/ HC & canned WC=2.5 T~23.1 Ketone stick this morning: Large (burning fat....at least I know that! )Water yesterday: didn't keep track but I know I drank enough Exercise: Just housework Today's thought: I'll keep fighting fat until I'm fit! |

Beth another thing I noticed for myself is about eating out. I dropped another 2 lbs this week and looking over my Fitday the only thing that changed was that I only ate out 1 time (Jimmy Johns Hunters Club Unwich-yum). Even though restaurants and fast food places foods may have lower carbs they are loaded with MSG or other flavor enhancers, sodium and who knows what preservatives or fillers. Some of us are sensitive to these things and they cause stalls or water weight gain. I work full time and know how it is-sometimes there isn't enough hours in the day to get everything done much less cook. Also I have found my carbs can be higher but I have to lower my calorie intake to lose. I don't what I would do without Fitday!
