OK, to finish out yesterday....
DH lost another 4 lbs...making 8 total. ! WooHoo!I have been very stressed here lately. My #3 has lost his glasses and I have been turning the house upside down to find them. I even went out to the trash can and went through all the bags of trash..Yuck! Please pray that we find them soon. I had to take two of my children to the doctor today because they said their ears were hurting...only to find out that nothing is wrong!! Let's just pray that in the next few days it doesn't show up and we have to do that all over again.Doing better with the exercising. My muscles are back sore. Hope that doesn't mean water detention! Very tired and had the munchies today. It is either the stress or time for a whoosh! Oh, on a better note. I bought a size 10 pants today! I am so excited. ![]() |

Yesterday was just really crazy for me (if you read above)...After DH got home for work we went and exercised. I think that helped me some on the stress. Plus, we got some time together to talk. I love the daylight savings time...gives us more time to get outside.
We both had a loss this morning. He was down .5 (bringing him to 8.5) and I was down .8 (143.6)!! Here is my menu for yesterday: Breakfast~Atkins Vanilla Shake (1) w/ T. of pumpkin(1)=2 (thanks Krysta for the suggestion) Snack~2 strawberries (1.8) & cheese stick (1)=1.8 Lunch~Hamburger with cheese(1) and mayo(0), side salad (4), ranch (2)=7 Snack~1 cup of CCD milk(3) & Atkins bar(2)=5 Dinner~Tilapia fish & shrimp(0), 1 cup cabbage (2.2), 6 asparagus tips (2), tea w/ splenda (1)=5.2 |

Beth, you are losing like crazy!
![]() that you find those glasses. I wish DH and I had time to walk together, although he is 10 inches taller than me, so I really have to move to keep up. He works north of us in our capitol city, doesn't get home until 6:30 right now because he picks up one son from baseball practice, and then it seems that 2-3 nights a week we have something going on in the evenings. Congrats to your DH on losing. Mine is doing Atkins now, also. He has always been tall and slim, but has put on a few pounds over the last couple years, just from too much snacking.

My DH is tall too...6'4"! We are like "mut and jeff". We were both thin when we got married almost 16 years ago. Soon we will be again! He doesn't get to take walks with me too much. We have a business that he runs and he doesn't get home early too many nights. It is nice when he does though! I keep telling myself that I will find those glasses today....I will! Thanks for helping me pray about it. |

I haven't found the glasses yet
...getting more and more frustrated. I also had two kids at the hospital last night. My #3 was vomiting, coughing, eyes swelling and my #2 had ears and throat hurting more. They ended up giving them both antibiotics and other meds. We were there until 1:30 this morning. Finally got everyone settled at 2. I am very tired today.I went up a bit this morning...144.2. I made LC pizza with hamburger and pepperoni, so it was probably the salt that did it. Plus I have been very active lately and my muscles are sore. I fully expected it to be that way this morning. DH went to the doctor this morning. He had lost close to 10 pounds. He found out that his doctor is pro LC, so that was terrific news! Doctor was very happy with him and told him to tell me to keep cracking the whip. I had told DH to ask him about his blood pressure meds, because of what Atkins had said about this diet lowering your blood pressure. Doctor told him it was OK since he was on a low dosage. He would check him in 4 months and see where to go from there. I am hoping that he won't have to take it anymore after that! I am stressed right now with all that is going on. Plus, we have our good friends that we haven't seen in a year coming to visit next week. There is a lot of pressure on me with making sure the house is "perfect" when they come (the haven't been to our new house yet). This weekend I will be very busy getting things ready...I have a long list. I can see the stress showing up in my eating. I have been snacking too much! Of course, I wanted to snack more. I think that DH being on board with me has helped me stay on track more. I soo wanted a huge bowl of lc ice cream last night but stopped because he can't have that yet! Here is the menu for yesterday: Breakfast~2 eggs(1.2), 2T mayo(.6), 2 bacon(0)=1.8 Snack~2 slices of cheese made into cheese crisp(1)=1 Lunch~31/2 tuna muffins(3.5), cream topping(mayo, sourcream, parm.)=3.5 Snack~tried a new treat found on the board..yummy! 2T carbsmart peanutbutter(3) & 2T heavy cream(0), 2T davinci's vanilla syrup(0)=3 Dinner~3 squares of LC pizza (4.5), tea w/ splenda (2)=2 Total: 16.8 Thanks everyone for your support. It means so much for me to come here every day and see your comments. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! |

Beth~so sorry to hear about your little ones being so sick. Hope you can get some rest today. I am the same way about my house being "perfect" when people are coming over. It stresses me out also. If I would just keep it that way........?!?
Congrats to your DH. He's doing wonderfully. I hope he can get off those meds next time he goes to the Dr. |

Hey Beth, KUTGW! I'm so glad that your DH is doing so well, you are definitely an inspiration! I understand about being stressed...Your mention of LC ice cream made me think that maybe I need to indulge in some LC treats...I think sometimes indulgences are necessary!!
Good luck with getting your house ready, and don't stress too much.....I'm sure they will be happiest seeing you, and not worrying about whether your house is "perfect!" |

DH is doing great...since Mon. he has lost 12 lbs!
Don't you just hate the way men can drop weight like it is nothing. You wonder why it takes them so long to decide to do it. Me, on the other hand, went up another .4...144.6! As I told Krysta, DH learned a good lesson yesterday with LC. He had to fast breakfast for his blood work, so he didn't eat anything until about 11:00. When he did eat, he had only 5 carbs. Then, a large job came in that he had to go help on (lots of physical labor). He didn't take any snacks with him. By 8:00, he was about to pass out! I think he realized that he has to change his mentality from what he used to be able to do. He doesn't have all that stored energy like he used to have to go on. I had the munchies yesterday again...plus the stress. My little girl has hit the terrible two's along with the clingy..don't want mama out of her site stage. She is driving me nuts. If I leave the room, she starts crying. And with the other two being sick on top of that, and all the normal stuff of taking care of the house and the family, I am really surprised I have handled my eating as good as I have. Before, my typical response would have been to make a big batch of chocolate oatmeal drop cookies and eat about half by myself!! My mouth waters just thinking about it. It was my way to handle stress before. Now I just have to deal with what ever comes....yuck. Needless to say, there has been a bit more attitude coming from me in the house lately! So here is the damage.... Breakfast~Atkins Shake (1)=1 Lunch~2 tuna muffins(2), cup of CCD milk(3)=5 Snack~Revolution roll with splenda & cinnamon(1), cup of coffee w/ CO & SF creamer(2)=3 Another snack~LC Ice cream bar(3)=3 Dinner~Zaxby's salad w/out fried onions(7), Zaxby's ranch pk.(5), 5 original wings(2)=14 Total=26 |

Well, we got a lot done around the house yesterday. DH helped me so much!! He is starting to feel the energy from low carb living and getting some weight off.
We got to go out with some close friends last night to Outback. They are not eating low carb, but I know they are watching us closely. One of the comments that our friend made was that, we were going to get all skinny and they were going to be the other "fat couple". They both need to lose a lot of weight. I am hoping since DH has gotten on board that our friends will start doing something themselves. Losing weight can be contagious. I ask on one of the thread if anyone knew about the butter they serve at Outback. I was particularly talking about the melted butter they serve with lobster. Krysta, I know that you go there a lot...what do you know? I was disappointed this morning that I didn't drop back down to the 143's. I ended my week at 144.2.That's .4 down from yesterday. I only lost 1 pound for the whole week! I guess I should be happy that I lost, but I am tortured with the fact that I may slow way down getting closer to my goal weight. Apparently, according to the Atkins book, I have a high resistance to weight loss. I try to keep my carbs between 20-25 and my weight loss is still slow. I don't have much hope right now that I will be able to eat the 30-50 carbs that some are able to eat. Some of that might change...I am hoping. DH saw a weight gain this morning. He was not happy. He jumped 1.5 pounds. I was able to share my own experience pf ups and downs with him. As we all know, that doesn't comfort too much. I did a ketone stick yesterday and it was lower in color. I think that is why I have been hungry and snacking. I am going to try to up my meat some more and get back into deep ketosis for a while. Here is the menu for yesterday: Breakfast~2 eggs(1.2), sausage(0), cheese(.2)=1.4 Snack~2 thin slices of Roast beef(0)=0 Lunch~Tilapia fish(0), 1/2 cup cabbage(1.1), cup of lettuce(.7), ranch(2), tea w/ splenda(1)=4.8 Snack~Atkins choc. peanut butter bar(2)=2 Dinner~9 oz. steak(0), Lobster tail w/butter(1), house salad(4), ranch(4), coffee w/splenda(1), half n half(1)=11 Total=19.2 |

Beth, I want to apolgize for not coming in here sooner. I start at the top of the journal thread and work my way down ... maybe that's not a good strategy.
So, have we found the glasses ? I am hoping and praying that all your little ones are doin better. I hate going to the ER. Hannah never had the terrible twos (thanking God every day), so I have no advice to offer in that department. But, I will add that to my prayer list. So, how did you make the LC pizza ?? How did you make the cheese crisps ? Tell me more about the p-nut butter, cream, syrup thing. Is it a pudding ? The revolution rolls ? Did it all taste good ? I think that LC ice cream is still a better choice than regular ice cream. But, congrats for not eating it in front of DH. It's tough and thankfully DH and I started at the same time. But he can have so many more things than I and never stall. I understand the stress of house cleaning, but Krysta is right ... they won't be concerned with your house being clean. Let me know how it goes. I am glad you didn't make the cookies ... that says something. I am glad DH is still on board . I saw your post in the ML about the butter. I haven't read it yet. I am sure you will get some answers. But, I think I read the other day on here that the Outback butter on the veggies was a bad thing, but the actual melted butter for lobster I am not sure of. Keep your chin up and you CAN and WILL do this. It might be slower. But, I have read where if you use shakes and bars, etc. that it can be slower. I decided to eat "clean" foods only. But, I had 2 bars yesterday, because there was nothing else to eat. Of course, all I had last night was a bratwurst wrapped in a lowcarb tortilla wrap. Just keep playing around with it. Maybe if you drop something and see if you lose, if not add it back in and drop something else. Does that make sense ?? Love ya !! |

Beth, I ate at Outback yesterday, too! I had the grilled porkchops w/ salad and beans and I went down a pound from yesterday! Even though many people will dispute the fact and try to claim "hidden sugars," as far as I know they only use butter and seasonings on their veggies (I have asked many times!) so I would assume that the butter for the lobster is just butter as well. If it makes you feel any better, my sister always gets the crab legs and eats them with the butter, and she has been losing steadily. Even on their website they say that their veggies are fine for low carb dieters, although they don't give specific nutritional info. They just have a menu of suggestions for Low Carb dieters.
http://www.outback.com/ourmenu/nutri...sp#highprotein And don't feel too bad about "only" losing one pound last week....I didn't lose any! I'm just hoping to go down another .2 to get to where I was LAST monday! You're doing great!! Plus you rarely have any kind of a stall, so you are lucky! I'm crossing my fingers and toes that your DH will lose again tomorrow! But you know, losing 10 lbs in a week ain't too shabby! I'm glad you had a good time with your friends last night I'm gonna miss you while I'm gone this week! I hope I can check in more often than not! Just keep doing what you're doing and you will probably be caught up to me by the time I can weigh again! Wouldn't that be awesome?? ![]()

You guys are so sweet with your advice! Candy~Did not find the glasses as I hoped this weekend. I will just have to go to the eye doctor and order some more. I am going to ask them to get them in quick this time. I had to make another trip to the hospital today with my daughter. She had a rough night last night and a high temp. She was diagnosed with ear infections in each ear. I knew that something was going on when I took her on Wed. but it had just not shown up yet. She is normally very sweet natured so I think the terrible two's might not be here yet. On the LC pizza....I make Linda Sue's deep dish one. I don't make the crust and then put it in the frig. I make the crust and take it out and put toppings on it right away. I don't have much time to wait on stuff. It might be even better like that but I have never tried it that way. I love it! The one I made the other day just have meat and mushrooms so, I didn't have to count it the full two carbs like Linda's. I saw your pizza on your site but I haven't used any flour substitutes or flax meal since I started. The Atkins bars helped me in the beginning with the sweet tooth and chocolate cravings. I don't eat them but every now and then now... when I don't have anything else around. I look back and don't see really any change in my losing by eating them or not. |
