OK, now that I have done my little dance....here are the details.

I couldn't believe the scales this morning! It was far more than I had hoped for after Friday night's run. I did really well yesterday eating clean. DH's mom called us and surprised us by coming to keep the little ones (big kids won't get back until today). We got to go out shopping and to dinner. We haven't been able to go on a date in a while, so it was a nice treat! DH found out that he has gone from a size 46 in pants to a size 40!! No wonder his pants were falling off of him! He is out of the Big and Tall section now! What a awesome gift for him. He is just tall now! He bought himself some new clothes, and he looks yummy!

We went out to eat at Outback's afterwards. I love that place! I did find out that they put seasoning (that contains sugar) and butter on their greenbeans. I just ordered them plain, and they taste really good. DH ordered them regularly and couldn't eat them because they were too sweet! I don't think they put the seasoning on their broccolli. We had an appetizer of the Ahi tuna....very good! I barely used the sauces, because I didn't know what was in there. When I got home it said on the website that you could have the sauce if your carb counts allowed. I take that to mean that it has some, but not alot in there.

Menu from yesterday:

Breakfast: 3 eggs(2.4), 3 bacon(0)=2.4
Lunch: Metamucil (5 fiber)
Early Dinner: Steak(0),Ahi tuna(0), Salad(2), ranch(2), 5 string beans(1.5)=5.5
Snack: real Turkey(0), 2 slices of cheese(2), yogurt(3)=5

Total: 12.9

So, don't be too hard on yourself. Like the others said, we do have days like that, and maybe your body liked the higher carb day!!! So proud of you Beth. You could have had so many bad things, but you did make fine choices for a snacking night.

Thanks for all the cheers!

The kids had a wonderful fishing trip! They were really tired though. They had to come back early (driving all night) because one of the members in the church had died and the funeral was yesterday early afternoon. It is good to have them home.

We have #3DS preschool program tonight. He has a speaking part so I know that it is going to be great! At the Christmas program last year, he stood there and waved at the family so excited. He was so cute. We have it on video. No telling what he will do tonight!

I have a busy week this week! Programs, doctor's appt., field day at the school, and the latter part of the week company coming in for the weekend. The kids get out of school on Thursday. I am already tired thinking about it. I really need to get back to exercising. I don't think I did anything last week. I will have to find ways to get it in. Maybe little things will help (like parking car far away etc.)

I went up slightly this morning....it's OK....that's the way it goes.....135.6.

Menu from yesterday:

Breakfast
: 3 eggs(2.4), 4 bacon(.1)=2.5
Lunch: Atkins Shake(2/6)=2/6
Dinner: Lemon pepper fish (kids caught...good!), 1/4 cup slaw(1)=1
Snack: LC yogurt(3), 1 tsp. natural pb(1)=4
Coffee: with HC=1

Total: 10.5N/14.5

I thought I had eaten more than I did. I have got to up my carbs again for this week. I was in almost the last color on the ketone stick. That is really not good. Going to eat more veggies today.

I put this in the main lobby but wanted to post it in my journal as well. Here are the comparison picture of Mother's Day that I talked about eariler!

There is such a difference in the pictures from last year to this.

You are really losing the inches even though the scale is creeping downward. At least it is going downward. I find that after a new low, the scale goes up again, but it will hit that number again soon.

I realized while I was talking to DH just now that I did have some veggies yesterday. I forgot I ate a Spinach salad(2 cups raw spinach(2), 1T Olive Garden dressing(1). So that brings my totals up 3 more points.

Hello my dear friend !! It seems like forever, huh ?

Ok, I am glad the boys had a safe fishing trip.

Kudos to them on those awards !! And you should be proud.

Congrats to DH on the new pants !!

I don't see anything wrong with your little beer/dip experience. It was all on plan, and the carbs weren't astronomical. (Now my experience was a little different because I went off plan). I really think that makes a difference and good carbs are good for you.

Thanks for sharing the pics, you can really tell a difference. And most of all congrats on your 40lbs lost !! Good job sister !!

I jumped up almost a full pound this morning! 136.4! I guess I am just full of it....whatever it is! Either that or my DH messed the scales up this morning when he got on it with all his clothes and shoes! It is probably right. I upped my carbs a little yesterday. I hope it is a gain of only water. My legs feel heavy today! Anyway, it is what it is! Sue told me that when she sees a new low in her weight, then there is a climb afterwards, Then, there is a steady decline back down. We shall see. I am definitely climbing!

We went to DS's program last night. He was so cute. He was one of the three little pigs. But as he pointed out to everyone, he was the wise little pig that built is house upon the rock! I had to take a disposable camera since our digital isn't working. I will post a picture when I get them developed.

No exercise to report...just running around.

Hey, check out my new bible verse on my signature. I found it this morning in a devotional book I was reading. The subject was health. I didn't know that was in the bible. Here is another verse I found interesting:

"Food does not bring us closer to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do. Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block." 1 Corinthians 8:8-9

Menu from yesterday:

Breakfast: Egg salad made w/ 3 eggs(2.4) & 2T mayo(.5)=2.9
Snack: Yogurt(3) w/ 2 tsp. peanut butter(1)=4
Lunch: Leftover steak(0), 1/2 string beans(2/3.9)=2/3.9
Snack: 1/2 cup cottage cheese(2) w/ 1/4 cup diced no sugar added peaches(3)=5
Dinner: Chopped Sirloin(0), 1/2 cup grilled canned mushrooms(1.8/3.8), lg. salad(5?), ranch(4?)=10.8/12.8

Total: 24.7N/28.6F

Do you ever wonder if you count your carbs right? I often think that I have got to be missing some. Especially when you go out to eat and you don't know the counts for stuff like their salad dressing. I use my Atkins book, restaurant guides, other people's counts when making their recipes, and fitday to get my numbers. Anybody use anything else. If you have a question about how I count a certain thing or count your food differently(for ie. eggs), I would love your input.

Beth, my weight went up this morning also. Ah well, the ups and downs of the scale do happen.

The program your DS was in sounds so cute.

Must hurry through my morning routine, so talk to you later.

Can't wait to see the pics from the program.

Loved the verse and I never knew that was in the Bible either .

I use only online sources for carb counts, unless someone gives it to me in a recipe or it is on the package of the item. Typically fitday goes over on carbs compared to package counts. For the most part, I leave them and hope that the excess makes up for the loss on others.

ITA about the roller coaster on weight. I will woosh and then climb then slow and steady back down to the woosh weight. But, slow and steady wins the race.

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday.

Speaking of roller coasters......my weight went back down this morning....135!! This is one heck of a ride!

I thought you would get a laugh out of that!! That's my view of a whoosh!

Not much to report today. Just getting ready for the kids to get out of school tomorrow and company to come in (friends from NC).

Candy~I got those pictures developed from the program and was not happy. My #2 son had the camera and his finger was in half of them....they were dark....had to do a lot of work on them. I am going to wait to see if my mom got some better ones to post.

Menu from yesterday:

Breakfast: Atkins Shake=2/6, Coffee w/ 1/2 & 1/2 (1)=3/7
Lunch: Out to eat...Buffet: Meat, veggie, salad=10?
Snack: LC yogurt(3) w/ lots of flaxseed(4)=3/7
Dinner: 2 hamburger patties(0), w/ slice cheese(1), couple pickles(0), salad(2), Olive G. dressing(2)=5

Total: 21N/29F

Congrats on your woosh. I had one too ... but I think I have stomach virus and am dehydrated from my bathroom trips. If it's not one end it's the other. However, I am gonna count the woosh and change my profile, because it is weigh-in day.

I thought of you yesterday and found an article for you. Our training seminar was in Lawrenceville. I brough their Sunday paper home with me, and was thrilled to find some info on your "yo-cheese" in there. I just searched and have found it online.

NEWSPAPER ARTICLE
Quote:
Use strained yogurt for low-fat cream cheese substitute
05/20/2007

By Jim Romanoff
For The Associated Press

If your healthy eating habits have left you hungering for cream cheese, take comfort knowing there is a healthy alternative.

A simple technique for draining some of the liquid (known as the whey) from nonfat yogurt produces a versatile and velvety soft cheese that often can be substituted for cream cheese and sour cream.

So-called yogurt cheese is tangy and has a texture somewhere between soft cream cheese and firm cottage cheese. It is easily made at home from plain or flavored yogurts and can be used in spreads, dips and a wide variety of toppings.

And it is decidedly better for you than cream cheese. A tablespoon of cream cheese has 50 calories and 5 grams of fat. The same amount of yogurt cheese (made from nonfat yogurt) has just 11 calories and no fat.
Another bonus is that by draining the whey, much of the salt and lactose are removed.

To make yogurt cheese, select a nonfat or low-fat yogurt that doesn’t contain any gelatin, starch or gums. These thickeners can prevent the liquid from draining out of the yogurt.

Set a colander or mesh strainer in a bowl, making sure the bottom of the colander sits at least a couple inches from the bottom of the bowl. Line the colander with two or three layers of cheese cloth or a basket-style coffee filter.

Spoon in the yogurt, cover and refrigerate at least two hours, and up to a day. The longer the yogurt drains, the thicker the cheese will be. Various brands of yogurt may turn out differently, so some experimentation may be necessary.

Discard the liquid and transfer the drained yogurt to a storage container. The yogurt cheese will keep, covered in the refrigerator, for up to a week.

Several companies sell yogurt cheese makers. Some are just funnel-like devices that sit over a tall container or pitcher, while others have fine mesh screens and the advantage of a built-in receptacle to catch the liquid.

Use thicker unflavored yogurt cheese as a spread on a bagel or toast. Or for a vegetable dip or crostini topping, mix the yogurt cheese with chopped fresh herbs and freshly ground pepper.

Cheese made from flavored yogurts can be used for spreads as well, or eaten alone as a pudding-like dessert. Drained coffee-flavored yogurt can be mixed with unsweetened cocoa and bit of powdered sugar to create a creamy mocha mousse.

Softer, flavored yogurt cheeses can be used to make low-fat dessert toppings. In this recipe, drained vanilla yogurt is combined with a small amount of freshly whipped cream and almond flavoring to make an exquisite topping for fresh strawberries. You can prepare the vanilla-almond cream up to two days ahead and store it, covered, in the refrigerator.

To avoid runny results, never mix yogurt cheeses in a food processor or electric mixer. Always gently fold or whisk in additional ingredients. Also, don’t use soy yogurt when making yogurt cheese; it doesn’t strain well.

Thanks Candy! I haven't made the yo cheese yet, but I want to soon. The article was very interesting! I am learning so much with this WOE. Congrats on the whoosh! Loving it!

I went up a small hill in the weightloss roller coaster this morning...135.4. I was very active yesterday, so I am sure that I'm holding some water. Only 7 more days to lose for this month. I started out this month weighing 138. I would love to lose at least 4 pds. We shall see.

I was so bloated yesteday. My clothes were tighter and my stomach was big. I don't know what's up with that....just making a note in my notebook and journal. Another thing....my nails are getting long and my hair is falling out bad. I am trying to take vitamins and drinking the green tea, so that probably explains the nails. My hair falling out is worrying me. The only thing I have found to take would be the biotin. Some have found results and some none. You have to take up to 5000 mg, so I don't know. Praying that it will stop soon or at least come back once I stop losing. After all the surgeries (babies/hyst.) I have had my hair has gotten really thin. I miss my thick hair that I had when I first got married. Speaking of when I got married....We got married in 1991. I was almost 22. I weighed 98 pds. I thought you would enjoy seeing some picture of what I looked like then.

Don't think I am crazy....I don't expect myself to look like that again!(only in my dreams) I think 98 pds would be too extreme of a goal, but I want to look good again! Just thought I would let you in my mind just a little bit!
Now here's a cute picture of us that I haven't shared with you yet taken Mother's Day....

Still in love!!!

Busy day today....missed everyone on here yesterday! NO ONE WAS ON! I was lonely! I have got to get going though....last day of school....picking all the kids up early today plus a friend....got company coming in tonight....not finished with housework and trip to grocery store.

Menu from yesterday:

Breakfast: 3 eggs scrambled(2.4) with cheese(.3)=2.7
Lunch: Turkey salad(1.2) over 2 cups raw spinach(.3/2), LC yogurt(3) w/ raspberry davinci's(0)=4.5/6.2
Snack: 1/3 cup mixed nuts(3/5)=3/5
Dinner: Chicken thigh w/ spices(1), 3/4 cup collard greens(1/2), 1/4 cup squash(1.4/2.4)=5.4/6.4

Total: 14.6/20.3
