MAJOR LCF POSTER!

Hi Sue. Very sorry to hear about your brother in law. I'm glad he didn't suffer. You've done a really good job keeping things in control depsite the stress. Would your Mom understand low carb more if you stressed the effects on blood sugar? I think you said she was type II, right? And yes... someday you will eat fruit, Ok... maybe berries... but that's fruit
. I used to be totally addicted to fruit... the one thing i think I do miss the most, but looking back now, even though i didn't know I was diabetic, I think I could tell the effects that an orange (and especially orange juice which I loved) had on me - not good.edited to add: look what my post did!!!... you now have a 2nd page!

Crazyredhead~I told my Mom about how fat/protein and how it effects our blood sugar, and that by eating more of that and less of the carbs, we keep our blood sugar from the drastic spikes up and down, but she just said, "So does that mean you won't be eating lasagna tomorrow." Don't think she even heard what I said.
We tried over the years to get them interested in LC because by my Mom and Dad are type II diabetics, but to no avail. Wow! page 2! I feel like I've made it now. ![]()

It has been since 2-22-07 that I have lost any weight on the scale. It is a little frustrating. I just would like it to even drop 1/2 a pound to let me know this is working.
I did measure on Saturday (two week measurement) and did lose inches. I will measure two weeks from that point also to see what the tape measure says. I keep hearing that the tape measure will be my friend during this time, and I hope that is the case. If I continue to lose inches, then the scale doesn't matter. So tired today. Too much has been going on. I need to get to bed early. |

Sue, focus on the tape measure. Step away from the scale!! The measurement PROVE you're making progress. The scale only tells you if you're holding water from one day to the next. If you can do it, try to weigh only every 2 weeks on the same day you do your measurements. Just keep remembering, this is your new way of life and way of eating. The weight might come off slow but it WILL come off. Hang in there. You've come too far to go back now, girl!!

Sjl330~sending lots of hugs your way. I just need to be reminded of this everyday! I am not going to weigh until the end of the month. I used to only weigh every six weeks years ago on a diff diet, and it was very releasing.
How long have you been at goal? Congratulations. I like your quote. I know that I want a quick fix, but deep inside know that after years of yo-yoing, it will not come off fast. I'm in the process of healing my body, and it will take a while. Thanks, my dear. You are an encouragement. ![]() |

I hope Mom hears about the study just out in the JAMA! DH said to send her the article, but I don't want to rub anything in her face. I dearly love my Mom, she was the best Mom a child could ever want.

I made the best dish I found on the RR thread. It's an egg, bacon and cheese strata. Think I will eat this four times today and just call it a day for food. Going to figure out carbs on fitday to see how many I will be eating today.

Ed's service was yesterday. It really was lovely. So many loving family and friends there. Ed will be sorely missed.
I was thinking that since I hardly drank water yesterday the scale would be up, but I was half a pound down. My first loss in 15 days and I'm quite happy about that. Hope the scale will keep moving downward for a few days! |

WTG Sue!! KUTGW! I'd love to have that strata recipe if you have a chance. Even the link where you found it would be great.
I'm still hovering at 140. Somedays up a # and then back down. I was only below 140 one day. I think my body rebels at anything lower than that. |

Here's the link.
Revolution Rolls? Have you had your body fat checked? A friend from a challenge I'm a member of has struggled to stay at 120 and would even like to get lower, but just had her BF checked and she was like 13%. I think her body is happy where it is. Could it be the same with you? |

Yes I've had my BF checked and it's NO WHERE NEAR that low. It's about 30% last time I checked. It's about time for a recheck though but I know it's not real low. I think I just eat too much to get much lower unless I do it about 1 pound a year, lol.
Thanks for the link. I hate making RRs but I just might have to for this. Last edited by sjl330 : 03-10-2007 at 08:47 AM. |

I'd hate to know what my BF is now.
I'd be horrified, I'm sure.I enjoy making the RRs. I've been making them every three or four days. |

It's been an o.k. day eating wise, but had a couple handfull of nuts because I was just wanting to snack. Need to do some cooking because there's no protein cooked right now except taco meat, and I'm not wanting to eat that. Guess I'll do some cooking tomorrow.
I keep going back and forth with myself about this stall I'm in, mini though it is, and have to talk myself into not changing things around. I measure again next Saturday, and if I have lost inches I will keep doing the same thing. Patience, Sue, patience. I'm patient about many things, but weight loss is a different story. After 41 days of being cheat-free, I'm not going back. I will stay on plan for the rest of my life, so 41 days is nothing. ![]() |

Good deal Sue! That will be the motivation you need to keep on keeping on and try to ignore the numbers on the scale. I know how hard that is to do but it's something we have to learn I think to keep from being discouraged.

I measured just my waist today and I'm down one inch from last weekend. This is working!
I'm so excited because finally I am getting beyond what the scale says. In the past year or so I haven't wanted to exercise much because I know it slows the scale down. With evidence in hand that the measurements drop when the scale doesn't, I'm just going to do it. I know I'll lose even more inches this way, although the scale may remain steady. It's a shift in thinking for me, but a relief. I want to lose that obsession with the scale once and for all. |

Sue: yayyyyy... so glad you are getting to see your hard work paying off both in pounds and inches... great attitude too! I have to start exercising myself... but I really hate it... I know it's good for you though so I am going to have to somehow talk myself into it... at least you have a good mindset about it. KUTGW

crazyredhead~it's so hard to find the time to get into an exercise routine, even though I'm a SAHM. I was going to yesterday, but youngest DS got sick at school, and then by the time we got home, I had so many other things that needed doing. Today I have a headache......so maybe tomorrow?

I was another half pound down this morning.
![]() I decided to cut out most of the cheese and all cream from my diet and see how that works. That was two days ago, and I'm down a pound. Don't really know if it is that, or that my body just decided to drop some weight, but will try this for a while. I think all those calories were adding up, although I just had cream in my morning coffee and 2-3 ounces of cheese. I read in the DANDR about yeast problems affecting loss, so decided to give it a try. I haven't been eating any of the other things that may cause yeast problems. The BCPs, which I am an for perimenopausal symptoms, may have caused this, according to the book. I'll see....... |

I am down another pound this morning. Can't believe it. I'm not sure if it eliminating cream and cheese, or hormonal things, but whatever it is, I'll take it.
14 pounds down and 44 days cheat free! |

Way to go Sue! Your body is saying.."get out of here fat...don't want you anymore"! KUTGW!! I would just give the cream cheese some more time...you should be able to tell then. I love cream cheese but don't use it but maybe 1 or 2 times a week. Do you use the ketone sticks? I couldn't remember if you did or not. I would love to have you over in my journal as well if you would like to visit! Have a wonderful day!
