Hillary~yes, so much more fun to eat. I just bought spaghetti squash and turnips today. Will have "spaghetti" tonight.
Beth~yocheese and greek yogurt are the same thing. I have found mine at Walmart and Safeway (Kroger for you?). The yogurt at Safeway is Mountain High, or something like that, and the one I buy at Walmart is Dannon. I much prefer the Dannon. |

It's in a big carton. It just says something like plain yogurt, no mention of fat on it, that I remember. I don't have one here right now to look at it.

So, when you make the yo cheese....you strain it over night? Does it have any taste being plain yogurt to begin with. Do you add things to it? Sorry for all the questions.

Beth and Sue: Hi. Don't mean to be nosy but thought you might want to know about "Dannon All Natural"... not sure if that's what you buy Sue? It comes only in a large container (at least in my stores) it's white with blue writing and is only 12 carbs per cup (not sure about fiber counts if any as I don't do net). I believe it's full fat as well. I think it only comes in plain, but it's really good. Sometimes I'll add just a touch of splenda... but not much and berries. As far as the Greek Yogurt goes, I've gotten a brand called "Fage" which is also really good but I personally like the Dannon a little bit more (or sometimes I'll mix the 2 since the Fage is only 6 carbs per cup... or is it 9? can't remember). I actually bought both of them over this past weekend - lol. Not sure what stores you guys have by you... but around here we have stop & shop, shop rite, shaw's etc. - all of them carry both the Dannon All Natural and the Fage.

Yep, that's the yogurt I get Hillary. I drain it for 24 hours and it is just like the Fage yogurt that I've gotten at Trader Joes. My dog loves the whey, so I just give it to him in his food bowl.

Hello Sue, I hope you were able to enjoy the time with your father. Kudos to the family for cleaning up the house

Candy~after cooking the spaghetti squash, you scrape it out of the shell (or whatever that's called) with a fork, and it comes out in strings like spaghetti. It's great with butter and salt, put spaghetti sauce on top then parmesan cheese. Yum.

I love the spaghetti squash. I add marinara sauce and parmesan cheese. Other times I add alfredo sauce (I have a recipe). Krysta adds ham and alfredo. I am going to try that sometime.
On the yogurt, I found the white container of it. I thought it was it because it had no mention of fat on the top, and then got up to the checkout and saw Nonfat on the side of the container. It was Dannon white with blue writing and 12 carbs per cup. Is the kind you guys get Nonfat? When I do find it, I forgot how you drain it. And you eat the part that is the thickest?? The liquid part (the stuff that drains) is what?

Beth~since you got the non-fat variety, why not add fat to it after draining it? Add heavy cream, coconut oil, or something like that. I put a paper towel in a strainer, pour the yogurt into that, put a bowl underneath, and let the whey drain out. I do it for 12-24 hours, but others do it less. I heard that the carb count for 1 C is 8 carbs. I give the whey to my dog and he loves it. You can add so many things to this to make it good. Last week I added a bit of natural peanut butter, coconut oil and chocolate SF syrup. Loved it.
I don't have much time this morning as MIL is coming for a visit for a few days. I need to get ready for her around here. Weight was up this morning, but I'm not worrying about it. Later........

Thanks for the advice. I didn't actually buy the yogurt, but I will try doing that if I can't find the full fat. Hope everything goes well with the MIL. Do you have a good or strained relationship with her? My MIL is the best. She has been a God-send to me! Take care. I will look forward to talking with you later.
P.S. We are just not going to worry about this weight gain! ![]() |

Hi Sue. Hope you have a good visit with MIL! I'm proud of you for not letting the gain get to you... I was up a pound myself this morning... it happens... it will go back down again
.Beth: Not to threadjack again ... but try looking at Dannon's website... they show all their products there... they have a whole line of "All Natural"... I get the full fat... hopefully you'll be able to find it somewhere .Last edited by crazyredhead : 05-22-2007 at 01:11 PM. |

Hi all my dear friends. I'm here, busy with MIL and can't spend much time on line while she's here. I already have too much to do, so that would be rude.
I was a down .5 pound yesterday, so hoping for more today! You ladies are the greatest! |

Just another quick check-in this morning. I might be able to get back on later, but it is a very busy day. MIL is leaving, but after we go out for lunch, I need to go grocery shopping, then a baseball game tonight.
I am down another pound this morning. My body really seems to be liking more carbs. I'm eating around 20 NET carbs now, and I am loving it. |
