I have been eating a lot more veggies, although Friday menu didn't reflect that.
I know I am very metabolically challenged because of my years of yo-yoing and all of the perimenopausal problems that I have, thus being on BCPs for three months straight at a time. I know I could lose quicker if I went off the BCPs, but I can't handle the constant hot flashes/night sweats and mood swings. Neither can DH , poor man. |

My official weigh-in is 179.5, so that is a loss of 3 pounds for April. A little disappointing as I was hoping for more, but better than nothing.

I think you did great! And look where you are... in the 70's! I think we all go through periods where we seem to lose more and those when it's a bit slower... but any loss is great. Just think how good you'll feel 3 months... 6 months down the road if you just keep doing what you're doing ![]() |

You are doing great Sue! 3 pounds is good! You know what they say...slower means that you will keep it off. Keep doing what you are doing! I just don't want you to be hungry so watch that OK?! You need just a little bit more vegetables ( unless you are doing a meat fast).

OK, so the orginal book says to do only two cups of salad in the beginning? So, there are no veggies yet? When do they add veggies back? I really need to learn the original way of things! How much of the other things besides meat can you have daily? Is salad dressing like ranch acceptable?

Beth~The first week is two cups of lettuce with veggies like cukes, radishes and celery. There is no limit on eggs or meat, no more than 4 oz hard cheese a day, and no limits on coffee or SF drinks or sodas. Cream is somewhere around 2 T a day or 4 t or something like that. I try to limit it to 2 tablespoons a day, but have had a T on SF jello. SF jello is fine, as are Revolution Rolls.
After the first week, you start adding more carbs. He doesn't have a carb ladder, just says add what you miss most that is LC, 5 grams more per day each week. So the first week you might have a total of 8-10 total carbs, then the second week you'd have 15 grams a day. He suggests adding cottage cheese first but I think I will add in more veggies after the first week, then I might take a big step and try cottage cheese for a week and see how that works for me. As far as salad dressings go, anything LC is fine. The blue cheese I use has one carb for 2 T. My ranch dressing has more, so I add mayo, part for part, to lower the carb count. There is no limit on mayo or fat either. I think that's it. On the Atkins 72 forum, there is a sticky on top that has more info about it. The people on it also follow ixtapacheryl's plan that her Dr gave her years ago to follow, that she lost weight on quite quickly. You don't add carbs into that program, just stick with it until goal. I'm not interested in months of eating like that. Hope that gives you the info you need. This program really does kill the hunger and cravings. It is 3:30, we had lunch at around 12:30 and I am still full from having 6 chicken wings (3 full wings) a small salad and about 1.5 T dressing.

Thanks for the info. I will see what I can do. I will also check out the thread you are talking about. I will miss the veggies the most I think. Tonight I am making a hamburger cabbage dish. The cheese is the hardest for me to measure out. 4 oz. would be a 1/2 cup...but how would you measure that if it was block cheese? Anyway, thanks.

Hey Sue, glad to know you are eating enough ... I was worried. I actually got the 72 book as well, but haven't finished reading the latter one yet.
I lost so well in the beginning that I wonder if I should stick on the same level or drop back to induction levels. Dilemas ..... ![]() Hope you had a good Wednesday. |

I'm pretty sparing with my cheese because I can eat way too much of it. I cut a thin slice off my cheddar cheese block and call it an ounce. If you have a food scale you could measure it on that, grated or sliced. I have one but just don't bother getting it out. If I use it in a recipe, then I will use it.

Candy~that is the great debate if you are stalled...adding carbs or not. I wish I had the answer, but I know for me, it doesn't help with losing. When looking over my food journals the past couple years, I lose best when eating really low carb. It's not always fun, but I do want to get this weight off. Hope you find what works for you.

I am really fighting discouragement this morning. In an effort not to be discouraged, I thought I would measure, but couldn't find the measuring tape. DD must have used it, but I can't find it in her room.
I am a siggie weight, but have not dropped below that since April 18. ![]() I am not considering going off plan, just venting my frustration this morning. I know that if I continue to eat right, the fat will come off, but could it come off any slower????? ![]() O.K., that is my vent for the week. I will try to be more positive from here on out. ![]() |

I'm sorry that you are having a hard time today Sue.
I know how you feel. We just have to keep pressing forward during these times. That is all we can do....eat right, drink right, exercise, and be healthy. Our bodies will do what they want to do. Try to find something to do today that will busy you and get your mind off of things. Go shopping, work on a project, organize a closet. Those are the ways I get through the discouraging times. Sometimes I will rent a movie or go see one. That helps my mind too. At least we know that it is temporal and subject to change any day!

Thanks Beth. You're so sweet. I appreciate your encouragement. I have some detail work to do on my painting, need to take my valances to the cleaners and have laundry to do. Also need to do some cooking. So I'll just get busy and forget about the scale.![]() |
