It's Never TOO Late!

Yes, the New Year has begun and my start is slow. As a former, 115 lb toned and slim person, I know this person is not who I am or who I could be on a daily basis. How sad it is that I let that go in exchange for what?! Where’s the energy!

Yesterday, I vowed to get healthy and begin to exercise on a regular basis. Of course I KNOW that the scale is not the tell all; I will feel better, look better and be flabby free – it will just take a little time.

I read the Book ETL once from the library but had to get it from another library so I just ordered it yesterday from the half priced place. It will come soon enough but thats no reason to delay this process!! Today at lunch I went and purchased some of the veggies that I will eat. Tonight I will go to the Y, get to the grocery store and then get myself organized for the week! I know that organization has always been the key for me in the past - and there's no better time than now to start again and have it be my last time - not on a diet, but on a way of life that works for me and my body! ETL for me will probably be tweated here and there, not all veggies and fruit, but for me more veggies (cuz I love them!!), less fruits (not fond of alot of them!) and adding in smaller portions of lean meats! Who knows if this will be right for me, but I'm determined to find what is right for me, get myself healthy, toned and lean!

Yes - It is never too late!

Weigh in and measurements tonight!

Thanks Jazlyn - you have inspired me to get back on the bandwagon for myself! What you have gone through and continue to battle, you are still getting it done - for yourself, with your family and for your health! Together, we can do this!!!

Tonight, got to the Y, grocery shopped, laundry, cleaned up, got things done around the house. Mom is coming home this week and will be staying with me for awhile while she recoups. Time to get myself in order so that I can help others! Made myself a version of the ww zero point soup, made two salads and cut up veggies. Now, to get myself going to get up and get to the Y in the am's so I can be home at night to get supper for the folks and help out when they come home!

Weighed in tonight - very bad! 146! Measurements were up from early December so I have been really slacking, but no more. It's up to me, it's for me and it's for others that I have the energy to help!

Thanks Diane! I figure I need something to keep me on track!

Todays foods will be
B-Naked Green Machine
L-Veggie soup
D-salad with V&O dressing

Will tweak as I go along, just need to eat healthier and by getting those veggies in, I'm bound to get there!

It's a store bot juice smoothie!! LOL It looks terrible but it's very good and says its all natural! It says it has a lb of fruit in every bottle, 15.2 oz! I'll probably only drink half of that for breakfast. A friend of mine drinks them all the time so I thought I'd try it. They have all kinds of flavors and after trying this, I might be tasting those! here's a review on them http://www.bevnet.com/reviews/nakedjuicefort/

Those look good. You know for me..doing lc for so long I look right to the sugar content and freak out...but I know that is natural sugar in the fruits since I didn't see any added sugar. Funny how we train ourselves to look at certain stuff first. After three years doing this I am just now learning somethings, like occassional fruit are okay....in fact I just started allowing myself unsweetened applesauce occasionally...

I looked at the sugar content also and since I'm not LC figure I'll try it and see what happens. Sugar does affect me in alot of ways!! LOL

145.5 today, -.5, not bad, but really bloaty after all the veggies, salad and soup! Had time for a 20-minl workout, got home at 9:00 pm. Day 2 of trying to get up at 4:45 am to get to the Y BEFORE work, but I always turn off the snooze! I have to figure out a way to get my butt up and moving so that I can be home at night but get that hour workout in before work. It will happen, I'm not changing my alarm clock, hopefully it will kick the body in!

Today's menu will be the same as yesterdays, it was filling and satisfying, plus it's so cold, love the soup!

Kudos to you for even trying to get up extra early to work out before work. I have tried that and never seem to stick with it. I do walk for 30 minutes during half my lunch break though so I can at least get something in.

Congrats on the .5!!

144.5

Today, 144.5! YAHOO! Going down slowly, but I'm eating great so I can do this! Lots of veggies, salads and soup yesterday and yes, I was stuffed! Did get alot of water in, but not sure what the final total was, need to continue to step that up! 45 minutes of exercise! Today, I have my soup (it's almost gone) and a salad if I'm hungry, may add in an apple today. I hope my ETL book comes today so I can get some pointers!

Tracey, You are doing great! I know what you mean about getting up early to work out. It is hard. I never could do it when I worked.

What is ETL?

144

Thanks Diane!

Today will be hectic. Dad has surgery, mom told she can't come home yet and niece had ACL surgery yesterday and they ended up keeping her! Two are at one hospital though! Will leave work at 1:30 today so need to keep my foods with me.

I'm going to concentrate on the weekend foods and exercise, it seems to be where I mess up the most and it continues on!

Down .5 today, will take that! Exercised 20 minutes last night, it's all I had time for but that is better than just not doing it!

Foods yesterday:
B-raisins and almonds
l-veggie soup
d- 1 lowfat cheese stick and part of salad - didn't have time for much and wasn't that hungry

Tracey, sounds like you are doing great.

I know how it is to have more than one person in the hospital. The same day my uncle was in with his heart attack, my FIL was in with gall bladder problems. They had to remove his gall bladder and some stones on Wednesday. My uncle was released Tues but my FIL is still in the hospital.

I hope for a speedy recovery for all of your family. My husband had to have his ACL done a few years ago (skiing accident) and that was no fun. But they are probably better at it now. They make such fast improvements in medicine.

Keep up the good work on your eating plan and exercize. 20 minutes is great.

Today went ok, busy at work, then up to the hospital etc. Got home at 8:00 and did 40 minutes on the gazelle, at least it was something!
B- apple
L- part of taco salad from Taco Bell
D- part of chef salad and one of my mom's chicken wings
Didn't get as much water as I would have liked, but all in all and being gone most of the day I made good choices so not going to beat myself up for today. Saturday working in am then at night - wedding, serving at the reception, staying for awhile, then home. Sunday will be my day off! Hope to keep myself on track for the weekend! No excuses!

2-12-07! I have half a month to get off 8 lbs for my goal! Haven't weighed in since Saturday, spent the weekend up at the hospital again. Mom ended up having surgery again Saturday early afternoon and will have to undergo one more. What a disaster this has been. I've been trying to make smart choices and at least walk the halls and get my water in. When I do get to go home, I'll weigh and hope to be either down 1-2 or remain the same - no exercise!

Dad's surgery went well, his hand is stiff, but they are taking out the stitches on Friday. My niece Megan had ACl surgery Thursday and they will take out the stitches on Wednesday. I think we are done with the patients in the family - we are going to run out of family nurses soon!

Todays plan is to stick to ETL and if end up not going to the hospital tonight, go to the Y! I think this journal at least keeping me to my word and plan!!!

Hey Girl! I see you decided to go ahead with the journal...I am so glad you did! Your entries here are sure to be as motivational to others as you have been to me. Thanks for being a great friend and helping by giving me those gentle nudges when I need them.

...this ETL plan you're on really seems to be workin' for you--2 lbs in 3 days!

143.5

Thanks Diane and Faith! I know I can do this - just need to keep my mind to it!!! LOL

I did get to run home last night, the scale said 143.5, which isn't bad considering I've had no time to exercise or get my foods together! Made myself a batch of veggie soup, brought it all in to work so I'll have it here all week. I'll probably stay by my brother now through Friday. He lives six blocks from the hospital and in the town where I work! Two advantages! LOL
Thinking about what I can do instead of exercise sessions so today I will take the stairs everywhere and walk down the hall and back extra each time I go to the restroom! I think some of this will help! If it wasn't cold and snowy - I could walk outside!

Today's foods:
B-yellow pepper and celery
L- veggie soup YUM
D- not sure, will be up at the hospital but probably a salad - that will keep me in line!!
Lots of water!

Tracey, sounds like you are doing great. Getting in any exercize you can has got to help. I hope your mom, dad, and niece are doing well.

What is in your vegetable soup? Soup sounds so good right now.

Thanks Jazlyn!!

The soup is delicious and you can tweak anyway you like! I used the basic WW 1pt soup recipe and did my own thing with it and it's low carb!!!

I use fresh garlic, pressed, 4-5 cloves (I love garlic) and 1 large onion and saute that in a large pot, add in 1-2 cups of chicken broth or you can add more, I use more water because the broth has alot of sodium, carbs etc (although I did get the organic this last time and noticed no difference in taste!) Then add in my green peppers, celery, cabbage, green beans and two tablespoons of tomato paste! Basil and oregano - to taste (lots! its a large pot!) Bring to a boil and simmer! It's done in no time and is even better after the first day because all of the flavors combine! I don't measure anything because I go by sight so it depends on if you like more cabbage,or maybe more celery etc - you know? Let me know if you make your own version and how you like it!! It is VERY FILLING!!!!

I keep thinking I am forgetting about a veggie, but you know, pick low carb veggies throw them all in with some seasoning and you have a meal!!!

Not able to weigh in

Won't be able to weigh in until Saturday or Sunday when I get home. Will stay at my brothers or the hospital until then - have to work near home on the weekend.

Yesterdays foods were good!
b- yellow peppers and celery
s- low fat string cheese
l-veggie soup
s- yellow peppers and celery
d- grilled chicken salad from McDonalds (yahoo - I ordered a salad!)
Took up items to the hospital, my mom wanted chix nugs with honey.

Today will be about the same except for a yogurt/fruit parfait. Today is a new day! Get that water in!

No weigh in

May be able to weigh in tomorrow. Mom will have surgery this afternoon, yes, number 4 in three weeks! They will keep her in ICU and since the surgery isn't until later this afternoon, we won't be able to go into the room and stay like we have been so I'll probably go home tonight. Yesterdays foods were great! I'm feeling pretty good, my pants feel a bit lose, but not sure if its water loss etc.
Yesterdays foods:
b-plain lowfat yogurt with blueberries, raspberries and 1 strawberry (it was delicious!) people down the hall had them for valentines day and use the money to go towards the American Heart Association
s-celery and yellow peppers (the last of them - they are good!)
s-1 pc string cheese
l-veggie soup
d-salad from subway with all good veggies, chix breast and very little dressing!

Today will be a great day! Going to get that water in again!!
