Changes........
I've been married forever, have 3 children (28, 17 & 10) with 3 grandbabies.
I became a member here in Jan 2000. I did well, lost 65 lbs and got off track. I tried getting back on the wagon many many times, but always failed. I gained back nearly all I lost. I ended up having to have double axillary dissections with reconstruction and was sick for a few years. In the meantime, the on/off Atkins was detrimental to my health (let this be a warning to you!) I developed high blood pressure and diabetes, my cholesterol/triglycerides went through the roof and was never able to bring them back down without the help of medications (a lot of meds). My PCOS was out of control. Nearly a year ago, I started researching weight loss surgeries because I wanted to be healthy again. It had been way too long and I was scared that I would leave my family way before my time. I needed that extra tool/help to get me there. I had my surgery (RNY) in November of last year @ 233 lbs ( I lost 23 lbs right before surgery). I'm down to 179 lbs as of Saturday ( I only weigh once a week) and my diabetes, high blood pressure, and high lipid levels are a thing of the past. I'm feeling great, eating is on track and I exercise 6 days a week. I haven't felt better in years! Weight Loss Detail so far: July 2007: 256 lbs/ BMI 42.6 August 16, 2006: 232 lbs(-23) BMI 38.6 October 4, 2006: 228.5 lbs (-3.5/26.5) BMI 38 November 4, 2006: 233 lbs (+4.5 lbs/-22) BMI 38.8 November 11, 2006: 219.5 (-13.5/ -35.5) November 18, 2006: 213 lbs (-6.5/-42 ) November 25, 2006: 210.4 (-2.5/-44.5) December 2, 2006: 206.8 ( -4.2/-48.7) December 9, 2006: 200.2 (-6.6/56.3) BMI 33.3 December 16, 2006: 197 (-3.2/-59.5) BMI 32.6 December 23, 2006: 196 (-1/-60.5) December 30, 2006: 191.6 (-4.4/-64.9) January 6, 2007: 186.4 (-5.2/-70.1) January 13, 2007: 185 (-1.4/-71.5) January 20, 2007: 183 (-2/-73.5) January 27, 2007: 179 (-4/-77.5) BMI 28.9

Welcome back!
Sounds like you are doing fantastic. Hope you dont mind me nosing in here but I read your line about on and off again on Atkins causing health problems and it caught my attention....the past 2 years I have been a horrible on/offer with Atkins and my chlosterol and BP are now high as well. Even at this weight 2 years ago there were both in the 'awesome' range.Interesting, I had never even thought of my yo-yoing as a cause. Welcome back again ![]() |

Thank you ladies!
![]() Summer, it's exactly what caused mine. We eat these high fat foods and it's all good when we're low carbing, but eat these foods and then add the carbs in (by cheating) and it's really bad for your body. |

Today was my official weigh-in day. I'm down 5 lbs this week.
![]() Still on track with food and exercise today. Was out food shopping, etc. most of the day yesterday, so my eating and water intake was on the low side. I need to find a good protein bar with NO sugar alcohols for days like that. |
