If I win the lottery, I will just do both. I am worried a bit about getting overheated. That's seems to be a major issue of water retention for me. I had thought the tanning bed would help prepare me for the sun exposure on vacation. Now, I don't know ......

I am more scared to fly than drive. Maybe ONE DAY we can all meet.

I didn't care too much but DH ranted about that for days! (plus DH had a terrible case of heartburn that night )
Have fun!
Thanks Twink. I have never heard of Bayou Bills. We ate at P. Willy's, Sharky's, Shuckums, and Angelos and they were all OK. I really want to go to Boondocks. But, it is a little out of the way, and very expensive from what I understand. However, I haven't read one bad review on the food. Most of the meals will be at the condo though - unless we win the lottery.

Thanks Laura. I agree ... it's getting rather "FREAKY" these days in Rome. We have been on all the Atlanta news channels for weeks now.

OMG ... my back was hurting when I got up this morning. I just figured our crappy mattress had aggravated my spinal arthritis ... although it was hurting a little higher than normal.

Then here is the past few minutes I have had the constant URGE to pee ... with no results. I finally got a little out and it hurt -- not burned, but HURT.
Ugghhh .... please tell me it's not a bladder or a kidney infection.

OK .... if it is, how do you know the difference ? Or does it matter ? Do you treat them both the same ?? I can't remember ever having either, since at least high school.

Anyone kind a LC home remedy ? I have always heard that cranberry juice is great, but it's not LC. I have also heard to drink a beer ... but I really don't want one.

HELP !!

Candy,
Sorry to hear you are having a problem. I have 2 suggestions...
1. Get some Cranberry Juice Only...not sweetened, and dilute it 1/4 juice to 3/4 water...it should help
2. Call the doctor, sounds like a kidney stone to me...very painful and apt to continue hurting!

Hugs honey!

Ugh ---- kidney stone crossed my mind as well. I took one of my regular pain pills (for severe times when by back is the "normal" hurt). It has eased up a bit, and I have peed a little bit more. Hurts right at the end ....

So, I might be getting a little dopey here on you guys. But hopefully not hurting. I have no juice and no way to get any .... Randy will be leaving for work soon and doesn't have time to go to the store. But, I am chugging the water.

... that it's just a fluke and the water will flush it all away.

Hey friend,
FYI, the unsweetened Cranberry Juice diluted with water is really good for you. It is like 8 oz of juice into 56 oz of water...very low carb. Something to think about for next time you head to the grocery store. I can only find it in the natural food section.

Praying it passes quickly!

Hugs

I don't know anything about kidney stones, but I have had a few bladder infections. I drink WATER WATER WATER. My Aunt, a nurse, told me years ago to drink not just a lot but gallons of water. You might try that.

Yes, lots of water. I have also taken some cranberry pills when I had one. You can find them in the supplement isle. Too, watch to make sure you don't have any fever. If you are running a fever, you will need to call your doctor and get him to call you in some antibiotics. That is the only way you can really get rid of it. If you start burning and developing a urinary tract infection then you will really want to call your doctor. They can test your urine to see if you have any infection. If you feel this way tomorrow, just drop by and let them test it. That is the only way you will really know. But for now drink lots of water and maybe get you some of those pills plus take a pain pill. I will pray for you!

Candy, this has happened to me more than I care to say. Had 3 bladder infections this year and high uric acid levels in bloodwork. The cause is aspertane in my case. Other causes include alcohol, meat gravy and mushrooms. But the cure/prevention is 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a little water every day. And 8 glasses of water.

Thank you Twink.

TT - This is the first time in 20 years I can EVER even remember this kind of pain. Do you think Atkins foods are the culprit ? OK, what does the baking soda/water mixture taste like ? I drink at least 8 glasses per day.

Monet - my journal is pretty educational, huh ?

Sue - Thanks, and YES many good suggestions. My fan club is SOOOO smart.

OK -- ya'll know I am in some serious pain if I went to the doctor this quick. I stopped by on my way in this morning. I gave them a urine sample. They just called and said I had an infection and told me they called in an antibiotic. (So, that pretty much cuts out the alcohol from vacation - not that it's a bad things). They said they won't know until the culture comes back whether it is bladder or kidney. I don't suppose it matters. I guess the antibiotic would work for both.

Now, to combat the pain. I didn't want to ask for a pain pill for this ... but geeze it hurts. I am taking some Aleve now, not much more I could take and still work.

Wonder how long the anibiotic takes to kick in and if it will decrease the pain intensity ?

Hope everyone had a great holiday. I have soooo much work to do today and tomorrow - here at the office and at home to prepare for vacation. I just want to go get in the bed with the heating pad. I am having chills. So, I figure I have a fever.

Yikes! You must have been in some deep pain to have already been to the Doc!! Glad you found out what is going on. The antibiotics should work quick. Atleast, I pray they do!

Remember, you may have some water retention issues with the Aleve, and DON'T be a martyr about the pain pills, if you need them, take them. I know, easier said than done when you have to work...can I come to GA and lie on your couch? I could take care of Hannah and you could trip out on your pain pills?? Hmmm, maybe I could bring my kids, and we could have a good ole PARTY!!

Keep us posted,
Hugs

Jaimie -- we could have a party.

I have 3 of the Demerol pills left (from the old back injury) -- so I will take one as soon as I can.

I called the pharmacy and they have called in Macrobid. Here is the LINK. The things it treat sound pretty serious and scary:

Quote:
Indications and Usage
Treatment of UTI caused by susceptible strains of Escherichia coli , enterococci , Staphylococcus aureus , certain strains of Klebsiella and Enterobacter species.
WHERE is the world would I have gotten something like this ?

Ok, this freaked me out too ...

Quote:
Inhibits bacterial carbohydrate metabolism.
and ...
Quote:
Urinary creatinine elevation and false-positive urine glucose determination with Benedict's reagent (copper sulfate solution) may occur.
So, is this going to pump glucose in my body and totally screw me up ?? Not that I care, I just want the pain to go away.

I am on vacation next week, and I was out a few weeks ago with Hannah - but I am SERIOUSLY considering going home. However, I am supposed to get my hair trimmed this afternoon, I don't think it would look good to go home sick and come in tomorrow with a haircut.
