I am having a bad day .... but food wise, I think I did great. Just wish I didn't feel "obligated" to count the coffee carbs. Didn't keep it under 20 carbs with the coffee.
Yesterday's Menu: B = 3 scambled eggs w/cheese 6 slices - precooked bacon 2 pots of cofee ... with ) carb cream and 0 carb sweetenerL = 1 serving of Linda Sues' Meatloaf 1 serving of Linda Sues' Faux Mashed Potatoes 1 24 oz bottle of Diet Dew S = 2.5 servings of Linda Sue's Jello Fluff ![]() OK, so 28 carbs MINUS 8 carbs for coffee = 20 carbs ![]() ************************************************* Today's Menu B = 3 scrambled eggs w/cheese (less than 1/4 cup) 3 small homeade sausage patties 4 cups (large mugs) of coffe, with 0 carb cream and 0 carb sweetener L = 1 serving of Linda Sue's meatloaf 1 serving of Linda Sue's Faux mashed potatoes 1 24 oz Diet Dew Snack = 1 20 oz bottle of diet coke (brought 1/2 home for supper) S = 1 large boneless pork chopped, broiled -- salt, pepper, garlic 3/4 cup green beans Remainder of diet coke Drinking water right now. 21 carbs INCLUDING coffee. ************************************************** * I am trying to have better portion control with this as well. I AM STARVING RIGHT NOW !!! With the Vitken diet I did before, no & low carb foods were pretty much unlimited (except no more than 8 oz of cheese per day, and eggs no more than 3 times per week). There were just "allowed" foods and you could have all you wanted -- plus at least 3 cups of "allowed" veggies each day. But, I suppose if I am going to eat cream cheese, etc then I better stick to close to 20 carbs per day, at least until I get on a "whoosh". I am still feeling pretty fat (cause I am) and low about my self. Having some real self esteem issues today ..... |

Sorry you're having such a down day. Is there a reason you feel obligated to count the coffee carbs? I drink mine black but I don't count the carbs.
Wishing you a better day tomorrow. We are in this together Candy....You, me, and the rest of the gutter girl gang ![]() |

Hey Candy.
Your menu looks great, the only suggestion I have is if you are truly that hungry maybe you should add a little more fat to keep you full. BTW, how did you like he faux mashed potatoes? As far as no eating on lan over the weekend...just put it behind and let it go. Take one meal at a time and push forward. |

And one more thing...how much water are you drinking? I have noticed a direct correlation between the amount of water I drink and the amunt I lose. I know most people hate drinking water, but if it helps ya lose it's worh it.

Hi Candy. I have never counted coffee as carbs and until recently did not know coffee had carbs. Even if you have 25 carbs (counting coffee) you will still lose just fine. We all have to find a level that is comfortable for ourselves. Now, about the zero creamer thing... What kind is it? If it is powder it has sugar and if it is liquid it has slight carb count which can sneak in and add up. Even heavy cream says 0 carbs but in reality a half cup has 6 (I believe).
No more beating yourself to death, young lady! Focus on how different you will look and feel in 6 months and get all excited about it cause it WILL happen! |

Thanks to all of you for your encouraging words ...
I am still down in the dumps, but it's just a phase - I am sure. Oh Monet, don't be silly, I KNOW you were not laughing AT ME ![]() Victoria, and Tippy Toes, I guess the "food police" here on LCF are who convinced me I should be counting ALL carbs, especially since I drink LARGE amounts of coffee. I am just confused and easily swayed by different opinions. The creamer is heavy cream. I put about a tsp in each large mug -- the container actually says 0 carbs. When I was using the Davinci, I didn't use the heavy cream. But, I need to save up for some more. Do you both drink LARGE amounts of coffee ? I am not really worried about caffiene -- it never bothered me before. No, I have not read the book. I am not a reader. There is no reason to buy a book, I will NEVER read. I suppose that makes me a "bad LCF". I have a 28 page book that I will try and stick too. Cheryl, what high fat items would be good to add ? I thought I was eating enough fat with cream cheese, etc. I know that keeps you from cravings and keeps you feeling full. Any ideas ? AND, I actually like the potatoes. DH did too . And yes, I am trying one meal at a time. Some days I gorge on water other days I might get 20 oz in. Depends on my headaches, etc.Lisa, thanks for being there. I have your aim. I will have to check on the yahoo though. I need to try and keep aim up when I am in the office. Quote:

Didn't have anything here to eat for breakfast ... out of eggs, etc.
This company change over has screwed up paydays for DH. Used to get paid on Tuesdays. Will be Friday's now. So, an extra 4 days to get paid this week. Then we should be back on a weekly schedule. Drank 3/4 pot of coffee with sugar free sweetner and heavy whipping cream (says 0 carbs -- now I am worried) Diet Coke for mid morning snack Lunch -- ran home for a minute (here now) 2 leftover pork chops & low carb ketchup. Supper is grilled sirloin burgers with slaw or broccoli casserole (yet to be determined) |

I cut the heavy cream out of my coffee last week. I do not count the carbs in my coffee, but I don't drink as much as you do. I had gotten up to about 7 mugs a day. What I found when I entered it into fitday was that my carbs were not a problem, but I was getting A LOT of extra calories from the heavy cream.
I don't think caffeine bothers a lot of people, but I have always heard you should cut it out when trying to lose because it naturally produces insulin which can be converted into sugar in your body. (I think I am saying that right, someone please correct if I am wrong). I didn't want any extra sugar in me, so I may have 1 regular cup every few days to keep the plumbing moving and decaf the rest of the time.

I personally think using half & half is best. 2 tablespoons (which is a lot) has only 1 carb and overall is less calories than the heavy cream. Yes I drink about 3/4 of a pot each morning. I use Davinci Syrup (and Walmart carries some) to cut back on Splenda, which has 1 carb per pack and same for Sweet & Low. I use a HUGE mug which holds about 1/2 pot, and in that I use a teaspoon or so till it turns.
Candy, I too think you need a copy of the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. It would be fine to read it little by little. The book will help you so much! I promise. ![]() |

Thanks Cheryl - you were probably right the day I was so hungry. I think I misunderstood
![]() I know I need the book .... I need to checkout the cabbage stuff. Maybe I will get out of feeling down, soon. I think some of it is physical as well. I had another nosebleed at work today. It was both sides, so I think it must be dry air/sinuses ? Last edited by Edwards20 : 01-30-2007 at 05:35 PM. |

Bottom line is that if you want to stop feeling so hungry, switch to decaf! If you can't go cold turkey, just start weaning yourself gradually. You might be surprised at all the unexpected benefits. I know for me less caffeine means less crankiness. YMMV. ![]()

Hello Sweet Candy - Cheer up sweetie. I know the wealth of information you find here on the board can be overwhelming and somewhat contradicting from person to person (not anyone's intentions, I'm sure). Take the knowledge and experiment so that you can find what works best for you. You are doing great and your desire to conquer is apparent
For me, I do like the shakes. The can says 1 net carb but when I enter the ingredients into FITDAY it says 4 (I think it's not "net" there). I will say my cravings have never been for sweet but more starch (pasta, potatoes of ANY kind). Some people say that having a shake creates cravings for them. I haven't found this to be true for me but maybe that's because I really never craved sweets. As far as it being filling. You wouldn't think they would be...but I find them very filling. Sometimes, truth be known, I think it's our minds telling us "I'm not full yet" but if we learn to listen to what our body is telling us we can adapt what our mind thinks. For instance, a clear sign that you are getting hungry is your body language...example: if you stop in the middle of eating to take a deep breath...it's your body sending a signal that you'r full. You will find that if you stop eating at this point you are a satisfied kind of full and not a miserable kind of full. Ok, having said all of that I'll quietly find my way back to the pew cause I know I'm just preachin to the choir!!! Have a great day ![]()
