I'd have to agree that it's not very nice to do that to your daughter... My parents (unfortunately) are the same way when it comes to that kind of stuff... they overindulge my DD and don't think twice about it... they think/feel it's "their right as grandparents"... But I'm the one that has to deal with her whining/crying about wanting "more cake" or "more candy" or whatever and the upset tummy and whatnot from all of that...
![]() What we had to do with DD's birthday cake is cut a few slices of it (like 4-5) and put them in single serve containers and put them in the freezer... She was allowed to have a slice every other night till they were gone. The rest of the cake came to work and was in the break room (and was finished off by 9am ...)Anyways... Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous!!! And WTG on resisting the cake cravings!!! ![]()

Irritating Co-Workers
OMG, I am going to go postal on this new guy in our office. There are 2 other ladies that do the same job as myelf. We all 3 just have different territories. We are in a very small room - no windows, etc. It was just some leftover space for us to plant our bodies when we had to do paperwork from sales.
Well, there are 4 desk in there. They have decided to place the new "man" in the room with us. He has been with the company and with us in the room for 3 months. I have tolerated him all I can. But today, he pissed me off. I am leaving early tomorrow for yet another trip to Atlanta. I am leaving the office at 3PM. That is technically 2 hour early. I am on a small salary + commission. So basically, if I don't sell anything I don't make anything. There are no written rules as to our "hours". I have been with the company for 5 years, and my boss approved me leaving early. In the 3 months, MR. FREAK has been there, he has missed 9 days of work. 9days at one time. He was supposedly dehydrated ??!!?? Long story, but if you are dehyrdated for 9 days then you are probably on death's doorstep. He was pissed because he didn't get paid. There are other reasons for that as well ....... he is just a freak. Anyway, he does something TOTALLY different from me and he gets paid for actually being at the office and being productive. He asked to attend a reading program with his daugher at school tomorrow. He asked BEFORE he missed those 9 days. SO, this morning he once again reminded our boss that he had to attend that tomorrow. In the same breath, he asked my boss if he should stop in the office tomorrow ?? OK, it's a reading program, that lasts 1/2 of a class period. Why would that require an entire day off ? So, my boss asked him what time it started and ended. He said 1pm - 2pm. So boss tells him YES, he has to come in before he leaves and then return. She simply explains that he can use his lunch hour for this event, and if it runs over an hour it will be OK. Anyway, their conversation went on and on for a few minutes. He looked at me, and told my boss ... SHE is leaving 2 hours early tomorrow and if I were a woman and white, you would not be discriminating against me ............ I am not racial, by any means. I don't care if he is purple, he is a freak. And what I do has nothing to do with what he does. He then proceeded to tell me that I worked when and where I pleased because I was a white woman ??? WHAT DID I MISS HERE ?? I NEVER RESPONDED TO HIM .... didn't want to give him any ammunition. Yes, I work WHEN and WHERE I want to. I basically set my own schedule and appointments. How does that have anything to do with the color of my skin ? Last edited by Edwards20 : 01-25-2007 at 04:41 PM. |

I had already planned to take the remainder to work in the morning.
They (inlaws) just came today after school to pick her up and go spend the night. DH didn't want to hurt their feelings by having the cake taker gone the very next day. ???!!!!????? THEY KNOW I am not going to eat it, so why waste it. But, I do like the freezer idea. Speaking of frozen treats, I think they left a pecan pie here in my freezer at Christmas. FIL was afraid if he took it home, they would eat the whole thing. |

Candy - Your little girl is adorable!!!! You could try what Cathy did the other evening with her brownies. Pack the cake up and put it in your vehicle for the night. Worth a try. I'd be tempted

Good Morning Candy.
Your dd is too cute!!! I wanted to stop by and answer the question you had for me in last nights challenge thread. You asked if I lost everything since October. Yes I have. I have been super strict, cheating about three times, not major overindulgences, just very minor cheats. The last was not even really a cheat per say, I ate all legal foods at a buffet, but overate so I consider that a cheat since it added a few extra pounds and took almost a week to get off. I was always heavy as a child, lost my senior year of high school and looked pretty good, got pregnant and fat, lost, gained it all bak plus some when dd was 3, lost again and got down to a size 8 and maintained that until my divorce when dd was about 7, then have put on 116.8 pounds over the past 10 years since my divorce. During which time I yoyoed with weight and 'tried' Atkins. Last October I just decided I don't want to be fat any more. I was tired of being the fattest Mom at every function of dd. I was tired of not being able to walk up a flight of stairs at events without getting winded. I wanted to be able to be in pics with dd for her senior events next year. And I wnated to be able to take Mother Daughter pics when she does her senior pics. Also, the reality that she is leaving home in 1 1/2 years and I will be alone hit. I didn't want to be fat and alone so one morning I woke up and decided today was the day. Sorry to write a book in your journal. Heck maybe I should copy this and start my own! ![]()

Cheryl, Thanks for the compliment on my DD - she is my pride and joy. I agree emphatically with these two statements.

Victoria, DH is a Mason and Shriner. The unit he belongs to is in Atlanta, so that's the main reason we go there. It is pleasure and work (but not job related). The Shriner's main agenda is raising money for the Shriner's Hospitals For Children. And we have a circus once a year that funds the operating budget. Also, I originally from an area about 14 miles outside of Atlanta and I still have family there. PS -- I cut a small piece off the cake and then sent the rest of it (3/4 worth) back with MIL ... probably made her mad, but I don't care --- it was making me mad be here. Well,I decided to post again here so it wouldn't clog up a thread elsewhere. (WARNING: Some information might be repetitive).
DH made the weekly Kroger/Walmart trip, then went to the local grocer for meats. (Usually we get the meat on a daily basis, depending on what we want to eat that night.) I have never had this much food in the fridge .... So menu plans for the week include: Linda Sue's meatloaf w/Linda Sue's faux mashed potatoes Brats on the grill w/homeade slaw Gortons frozen grilled salmon w/brocolli/cheese casserole Beef roast in crock pot (NEED SOME tips on seasoning this) w/green beans hamburger patties w/homeade slaw We were going to have chicken wings for lunch today, but decided to take them to our friends' home tonight for our food. They are having tacos -- so I think I could eat the taco meat, cheese, salsa, sour cream, lettuce. Won't know the carb count on the taco meat and that makes me nervous. However, today I have eaten: 3 eggs - scrambled with 1 carb cheese 5 pieces of precooked bacon leftover taco soup So, hopefully I will be fine. I have already consumed 20 oz. of water. UGH!! That is not much at all. I have had coffee all morning too. And just got a cup of Diet Dr. Pepper. MORE WATER .... I think this has to be the key. |

Heck, she won't keep it around long enough to stare at. She will eat it. I just didn't want to insult her by "returning" it, since she made it for Hannah's birthday. My only fear is that my FIL will eat it, and she will let him then gripe at him when his sugar goes through the roof.

You menu looks great.
I have tried the faux mashed potaoes. I'm not a fan of cauliflower either, but like the 'potatoes'. i think the garlic and seasonings covered enough of the culiflowery tast for me. I actually bought some cuali to make some more, but just haven't yet. I try to cook a lot on the weekends and freeze in individual portions so that if things get hectic during the week I can just pop in the microwave. I also take them to work for lunch and just add a salad. As far as the tacos go, I have no idea how many carbs are in the meat, but when dd wants taco bell i usually get two soft tacos, no tomoatoes and just eat the insides. I haven't seemed to have any problems with that. I also make a 'taco salad' without the chips when we go to Golden Corral and have never had problems with theirs either. |
