Cheesy Garlic Flax Muffins
Cheesy Garlic Flax Muffins
The next time I buy flax, I might consider these ... I can't find the carb count, but it would have to be less since you are omitting the powdered splenda. |

LOL, she wants one ... but I am leary since she won't drink anything extra than what contains her Muralax. So, for now ... we will not let her have one. Randy went to get her a pack of blueberry muffin mix.

Woo hooo Thanks Heidi ... guess the bells and whistle don't come with 2,000. Lisa said 3,000 was the next big level. I am waiting to see if you or Lisa get to 10,000 first. Wish the pounds were flying as fast as the post counts for me.Quote:
Thanks Domonee. I have gone back in to my fitday and changed them to reflect a 5carb per muffin count. I wish I could figure it out for real. I might try to do that. I am sure there are programs that do it. There was some debate on the carb count in the initial thread. I gained/retained 1 lb this morning. I truly don't think the flax would affect that, and I really don't see anything bad in yesterday's menu. So unless it was just going OVER my limit in my carb count then I don't know. I even had EXACTLY 3 cups of lettuce. I tried to be strict. So, perhaps it's not WHAT I am eating, but the fact that I am only able to lose at 20 carbs or less ? I do know that with my chips on Friday night and whatever happened yesterday, I am up tp 240 since last weigh-in. So before I can drop pounds for weigh-in, I MUST beat these 2lbs back down. I am so ready to kick these 2 lbs to the curb. They have plagued me too long.Yesterday's Menu I am going to check out the muffin recipe and see if can ascertain the actual carb count. I do think that I am someone who cannot count NET carbs. I had 29 carbs yesterday. 14 of that was fiber, making the net 15 grams. So, obviously fiber does affect me ?? It is frustrating, but I will persevere and break through. Speaking of fiber .... I had right at 2 of the muffins, and then a TBSP of flax in a Danon Light & Fit. I consumed 120 oz of water yesterday. Is that normal ? Do I need more water ? Is it too much flax ? I am learning a lot in reading DANDR, and Dr. Atkins says that you can stay at induction levels for 6 months safely. He also said that moving up the carb ladder can slow weight loss, but you would still lose. He basically said that if you have over 50lbs to lose and have a high insulin resistance (which I think I do), you might choose to stay on induction until losing a bit more. He poses the questions: Lose faster ? Have a wider variety of foods ? It's our choice. Each person is different. So I might do this. We just bought some strawberries yesterday. So, there are a few ALLOWED foods that need to be gone before we do this. However, I also think that I need to allow another week or two before concluded this as a true stall. So, I am not completely sold on going back to induction levels just yet. From what I have added and take away, one thing has remained constant -- the coconut oil. I am beginning to wonder about this stuff ... perhaps it's just not right for ME. So, when it's gone .... it's gone. Not buying anymore until I see if that is causing this perceived stall. Update on Hannah -- she used the potty twice yesterday and once this morning. I really have got to get her "moving" today. It's so hard to get a child to drink extra fluids when she is drinking 8oz with the Muralax every 2 hours ![]() Last edited by Edwards20 : 04-01-2007 at 06:51 AM. |

You might try popsicles for Hannah, I know it's not water, but it is fluid, and she shouldn't mind them as much as trying to get her to drink more? Just a thought.
I don't know what to say about those 2 pounds, have you measured? Could be water retention? I know you're doing everything right and you might be one of those under 20 a day carbers to lose.. I know I am You can try counting full (not net) carbs for a week and see if it makes a difference, it's only a week.Have a nice, relaxing Sunday, I'll check back later for a Hannah update and to see how your day's gone to you and Hannah

She is eating/licking the popsicles ...
![]() I have measured, but it doesn't work very well with a metal tape. ![]() I have got to find my reg. measuring tape. My jeans feel loser, so that is a plus. So Domonee, since you have to have under 20 carbs to lose ... do you do induction foods only or are you moving up the carb ladder somehow ? |

Candy, I believe everyone has a weight span instead of an exact number. I prefer to think I weigh 158, lol, and on some days I do... Other days can go to 160, then it drops back again. Don't worry. The way I gage it is if the scales go up a little, fine. But if they go up again on top of that I know I am in trouble.

I know what you mean about the metal tape... that is the only reason I haven't measured yet... I'm on a search mission for it and hoping I come across it while I am packing for my move! I did induction for about a month starting in January (I was at 300 when I began this last time). I was losing fairly well, but I love food. I love the taste of it and since I knew this was how I was going to be eating for the rest of my life, I decided I better find a way to not feel deprived (so I didn't get tempted to change my mind on the WOL). I began to find "acceptable" alternatives for the foods I really love and do not want to give up for the rest of my life. It wasn't as difficult for me as someone who loves sugar because I'd already incorporated as much SF foods as possible because of my diabetes. What I had to tackle was the "other starches". I carefully studied Dr. Atkins Carb Counter and chose the foods I found acceptable. Acceptable to me means: no sugar, low carb count, and I have to really like it or it has to have supreme health benefit. For instance, the only fruit I will eat are grapes (sparingly because I love them), berries and melons (best low carb fruits). I did the same with veggies. After I made the list of all acceptable foods, I gave a copy to all my family members so they would know why I chose or didn't choose to eat something at family gatherings and that also gave them the opportunity to prepare something I could enjoy. I did add that I would eat LC foods if they were sugar free and had less than 3 net carbs per serving (the next day my mom bought some LC ice cream to keep for me at her house - I had it one time and it's yummy!) I do depend a great deal on the LC foods such as Carbquick, Mashers and Hood Calorie Countdown Milk. When I prepare something, like biscuits or the Mashers, I make the recipe, count all the carbs and divide and freeze the portions. I plan ahead (at least for the day) to make sure I incorporate everything I want to eat that day. I occasionally go over on my carbs (never by more than 10 tho), but if I do, I make sure I don't go over for at least a full week. The only thing I haven't found an acceptable alternative for is potato chips. There are about 25ish carbs per serving and I can be satisfied with a single serving very occasionally (I haven't even wanted them in several months, but I do enjoy them and know I can have them IF I choose to. I just haven't chosen to have them yet). Typically I will have one carb treat (in addition to my veggie carbs) per day if I choose one at all. I can have one or two large strawberries and I'm satisfied with that over eating the whole quart. I think the key for me this time is that I have found a way to eat whatever I want if I want it. I haven't felt deprived and I enjoy my WOE. Now... if I can reach that point with my exercise!!! So sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps? |
