~Sarmay's Journal~
It seems silly to be writing this here, but I need to keep myself honest this time around, and this seems to be the best way to do it.
First off, if anyone reads this and has any comments, questions, or suggestions, feel free to post them here. ![]() Yesterday was a good day. Not entirely great, but good. B - 1 oz mozz cheese and 1/2 c salad greens (I'm not a big breakfast person lol ) L - Salad stuffed with veggies, chicken breast meat, italian dressing (no sugar) D - Well, we decided to go to IHOP for dinner, and it took longer to get to dinner than anticipated, so I was starving by the time I ordered ... big mistake! lol I wound up getting a chicken fajita omelette (good choice) and eating a little less than half an order of harvest grain pancakes (not a terrible choice, but I should have skipped them )I drank a cup of coffee with dinner, artificially sweetened, a diet soda with lunch (in the past, I haven't had a problem losing if I drink the diet sodas and coffee, so I'm not going to get rid of them yet ... if I have trouble, I'll drop them. ) and I managed to drink 5 of the 16.9 oz bottles of water! Well, I refilled them with filtered water, at least ... I don't like the tap water at home, my work has a water purifier, and bottles of water get expensive, so I refill at work. ![]()

Sorry, I decided all that I wanted to say was way too long to make just one post.
![]() Anyhow, today I skipped breakfast, but am already about done with my first 16.9 oz of water. For lunch, I have brought the same as yesterday and dinner will be fast food because I'm working late, so my sis and the kids are bringing dinner up for me and they'll hang with us. ![]() She told me to call her with my order later, so I have until 4:30 to decide what I want. I was thinking a salad and bunless burger, or one of those subway salads. I love the steak and cheese one made into a salad! This morning, I weighed myself and as of today, in the past 4 days, I'm down 11 lbs! I know it's water weight, but I'm in ketosis (I can tell from the breath and general feeling), so I know that some real fat is coming off soon! It's quite reassuring to do well after so many restarts, since in the past I haven't experienced that, but it has been a while since I've tried. This time is different. Truly. I'm not doing this for looks, but for my health. I won't live to see 50 at this rate, and I want to see my little nieces all grown up! They are worth a little excercise! Speaking of which, I tried to do a little pilates last night, and it was excruciating! I used to be able to do at least 30 mins of the real stuff before feeling the way I did after just a couple of minutes! I think I might have to try something different. I'm going to do some dancing and excercising with the boys I take care of this afternoon, after naptime. I know it's not high-impact, but I'm going to have to start small and work my way up. |

Okay, one last thing to add.
I wanted to make a list of the reasons I need to stick to this! ![]() 1. I am pre-diabetic ... I don't want to be diabetic. 2. My PCOS symptoms will be so much more manageable at a healthy weight! 3. I want to have a baby someday! 4. My husband is diabetic, and he needs a healthier lifestyle, to, so I may as well join in! 5. I want to be able to run and jump and play with the kids in my life! 6. I want to buy clothes from the regular racks! ![]() 7. I want to feel good about myself. 8. I want to live a long life with my family and friends. There. I said it all for now, I think. ![]() |

Okay, dinner tonight was a double cheeseburger, no bun, from McDonalds and a salad. The girls really wanted McD's, so there it was. Now, I know that I'm supposed to eat if I'm hungry, but I have nighttime eating issues.
Whenever I wake up in the middle of the night (which I do often ... well ... nightly) I'm ravenously hungry! It doesn't matter if I just ate an hour ago, I still feel hungry if I wake up. It's embarrassing. And pointless. I've been known to get up at 3 am, eat a balogna sandwich (ok ... 2 ) and then go back to sleep. So, as part of my healthy eating plan, I've vowed not to eat after 8 pm and until 6 am, the earliest I wake up for the day. Tonight, I got home at 11:30 pm, feeling hungry, even after my adequate dinner. Instead of grabbing food, I grabbed a bottle of water. I know it seems silly, but it's a big step for me. It was almost to easy to say, "well, as long as it's low-carb, it's ok" but instead I decided to stick to my guns with it. I need to succeed this time. ![]() I have a batch of tuna muffins in the oven for breakfast tomorrow and the next few days, so I can just look forward to breakfast now. ![]() |

Hello! 13 lbs down so far as of today!
It's a small victory, but it puts me closer to my mini-goal of 275 by feb 10. I'm sure I'll make that now. I brought a couple of those tuna muffins I made last night for breakfast today, but wasn't even hungry for breakfast (first time in a while lol)! It figures ... the first day in ages that I actually bring breakfast, and I don't want it! I did wind up eating them, though, because as soon as I opened them up and smelled them, I got hungry. They were delish. Lunch was a salad with chicken and a cheese "cracker". There's more left in the fridge for a snack later if I get hungry. That's all for now ... I'm going to get some excercise in later, and I'll update then, I'm sure. |

Well, I didn't post in my journal yesterday, but I was very busy. It was another good day, really. For breakfast, I had ... uh ... well, I didn't eat breakfast, but lunch was hotwings and a salad, and dinner was a bowl of soup (broth, mushrooms, peppers, chicken, scallion, and a dash of worcestershire sauce ... pretty good, kind of like hot and sour soup if it had red pepper flakes in it) and a slice of LC cheesecake. I made the "A Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake" and changed the crust. I used crushed up LC PB cookies, almond flour, a dash of cocoa powder, and butter. It's divine! My bro (a high-carber, of course lol) and even DH loved it, too.
I was so excited that something I made turned out so good!I remember the last LC cheesecake I tried making ... it was NASTY. I don't really like new-york style cheesecake, so it tasted too eggy to me. I'm defintitely keeping that recipe bookmarked and making it again. The ONLY issue I have with it is not eating it for every meal! lol Today, I skipped breakfast again (I know, bad idea, but I don't feel hungry in the mornings anymore, so I haven't been eating then. ) and lunch was hotwings and a salad again. For dinner, DH and I went to TGIFridays and I got the fajita combo. It was yummy! I was going to have another slice of cheesecake with some SF chocolate ganache on it, but I decided not to. Now it's too late, but that's ok, because I think I'll take a slice for a snack tomorrow at work. ![]() We also went clothes shopping tonight, and I accidentally bought a skirt that was the wrong size. It's an 18, and I usually wear a 24/26. Bummer BUT ... I tried it on anyway, and it's a little bit tight, but it actually fits enough that I can get it on! It'll fit perfectly soon! |

Yesterday was a great day.
I did skip breakfast again, but I had a salad and chicken for lunch (no cheese) and a slice of LC cheesecake. Dad took us all out to dinner last night, being the anniversary of Mom's passing. We went to Outback and I had a salad with ranch and the Alice Springs chicken with broccoli. It was delicious! When the bread came around, I had a taste of it, but not even half a slice and I skipped dessert, opting for coffee with cream and splenda instead. I had been thinking that I would grab another slice of cheesecake when I got home, but I realized that I didn't want it after all. And, as a reward, I was down another 2 pounds this morning! And, I have, in my closet, a pair of jeans that I could pull up but not zip. Until this morning. I ddn't wear them to work because they're still tight and they're a mini-goal pair of jeans, but I could at least zip them without too many acrobatics. Today I had breakfast. A slice of cheesecake. Thank heavens it's almost gone now. But at least it hasn't seemed to cause me any trouble ... I've dropped several pounds even while eating it every day so it's all good. Oh, I had some sausage for breakfast, too. For lunch I have a salad and some more sausage if I want it. Sammy's making LC chili for dinner and I'll grab a salad with that, too. That reminds me ... I need some more salad mix and cream cheese from the store. ![]() |

Well, I haven't written here in a few days, but all is well so far. I made some of those "Best Burger Bun" thingies last night ... I'd forgotten how delicious they are! DH tried them and said they tasted like salty pancakes.
Anyway, I think I'm going to add some splenda and cinnamon to them and make pancakes this weekend. Or, I use some of my new caramel DaVinci syrup. I really only made them to try out my new carbalose. I think they had a better flavor with the carbalose flour than a bake mix ... at least, as far as I can remember. I also want to try making that artisan bread, both as a pizza crust and as a sandwich bread. In a way, I want to start making these things since I have the ingredients, but, too, I don't want to overdo it with substitutes. But, I figure if I know I can have them, I won't want them. At least, that's how it usually works. At any rate, it was a real treat to have something to put my tuna salad on for lunch. I had that and some roasted green beans. Yum! I'm going to work on drinking my water this afternoon and evening. MUST DRINK WATER! Well, I better go ... later! |

WoooHooo! The scale went down a little further this morning!
I tried more cooking today, but the only thing that turned out was the pumpkin sausage soup, so I packed it in baggies in the freezer for lunch this week. Oh, and the stuffed mushrooms I made with the extra sausage, of course. They went in the fridge for tomorrow. Funny how on the days (really, day ... usually only Sat. or Sun.) that I cook, I don't feel much like eating, usually. ![]() Maybe I should cook every day!! ![]() I babysat for the 2 yo tonight, and we ran all over the place, so I think that should count as exercise. I did, however, eat a regular tortilla today, but that was about all. I don't think that's too bad. It took years to put the weight on, and, besides, I doubt that one tortilla will knock me off the wagon. It wasn't even very good! Well, that's all for now ... gonna check the other boards and head off to sleepytime. Night! |

It finally snowed here! I was beginning to believe in global warming for a minute!
![]() Yesterday was not such a good day, but I'm going to do well today, I can feel it. I worked out for a little on the trainer again, and I'll do some strength exercises in a little bit ... probably after lunch, before the kids lay down for their afternoon nap. I would like to take them outside and run in the snow, but A and J don't have coats here. Their mom accidentally took them out of town with her. ![]() Here's the meal plan so far: B-I brought some sausage patties, but haven't eaten them, water L- salad and pumpkin soup, diet coke D - probably salad and meat, water Later! |

Isn't it awful when you spend forever and a half typing up a really long post, only to have something happen while you're working on it and lose the whole post?
That just happened to me. *sigh*Well, in summary, I've switched over to South Beach, because it's easier for me to stick with long term, seems more balanced, and is easier on my kidneys. And delicious, too. I had a melted SF FF fudgesicle with a tsp of natural PB last night, and it was heavenly! I can't wait until I can have another! ![]() I was a little worried because yesterday morning I was up 9 lbs, but this morning I was back to 281, so it must have been sodium from Sunday still. I'm hoping to have another lb or 2 gone by Saturday when my official weigh-in is. ![]() Todays plan is to get some trainer time in and eat 3 meals, one snack, and probably a dessert. ![]() B - SB wrap, water with a dash of lemon flavor L - roasted veggies (eggplant, squash, a little onion), chicken, diet soda or water S - well, I grabbed a packet of SB cookies, but I don't know if I'll eat them ... seems so wrong. ![]() D - I'll be going to the store, so I'll pick up probably a salad and chicken ... or maybe something else ... lol ... gotta talk to my sister about that. ![]() Dessert/snack - either ricotta "pudding" or that pb fudgesicle thing again. ![]() My goal for tomorrow is to pre-pack my B, L, and snack tonight and have them all ready to go. I'd also like to make some of those homemade LC granola bars made with whole oats for breakfasts. Sounds too yummy!Well, that's enough for now. Later! |

Well, I found that sweet potatoes are a bad idea for me ... they've brought on some major carb cravings!
I finished off the sweet taters I made on Sat. last night, and now, no more until I reach my goal! However, I have a feeling I'm going to have to see my doctor in order to lose weight ... I need my thyroid meds back ... I know I should never have stopped taking them, but I did, and that's it. Maybe I'll try calling her later this week and try to get a refill and get bloodwork done before seeing her again. I can do this! ![]() Oh, and I made a protein shake for brekky this morning ... NASTY! ![]() Really. So, I stuck with my v-8 and cheese stick. ![]() L- chicken, roasted carrots, green beans, diet soda S- cheese stick, water D- I'll grab an oz of nuts before heading to the store, then I'll fix dinner afterwards I signed up for the free trial of southbeachdiet.com ... it's actually pretty neat! It gives all your meal plans and a shopping list that you can customize at any time. I've tweaked a week's worth of phase 1 meals to start on tonight after I go shopping. Hopefully that combined with exercise will help break this 17 days with no weight loss! Although, I think I'm losing inches, just from clothing fittings and comments from others ... I'd just like to see a whooooosh! |

Well, my BRAND NEW car sprung an oil leak.
I scheduled a service appointment for tonight, but we're supposed to get 3-5 inches of snow during rush hour tonight, so I might reschedule for tomorrow night. I really don't want to be out in the snow more than necessary if the roads are bad, but more so, I don't want my family to have to come and get me from the dealership if the road conditions aren't good. Anyway, I went to the store last night, and bought food for the menu plans on the south beach site, and am trying to work within them. I also got some SF jello for snacks so that I'm consuming fewer calories. I woke up at 5 am and had a little insomnia, so I got another early start on the day. I, therefore, had a warm breakfast! It was nice for a change. I should do that every day. Menu Plan: B- eggs baked in canadian bacon cups with peppers and shallots S- hummus and green pepper strips L- a little leftover chicken and asparagus (SO good! I forgot I liked asparagus!) light laughing cow cheese S- celery stuffed with a wedge of cow cheese D- If it doesn't snow too much, I'll probably be eating out ... if it does, then I'll broil a sirloin burger and have eggplant manicotti with it d- jello with whipped topping most likely |

Been bad the last couple of days, but I'm going grocery shopping either tonight or Sunday, depending on several factors, so I won't have an excuse.
I didn't do TOO badly for today so far, and dinner will be most likely out with dad and sis and kids, so I'll have an opportunity to get good food. No matter where we go, I can always get a salad with chicken, which actually sounds good to me. ![]() |
