Hag's

Hi, my name is Cheryl My last name starts out hag, that's why the title.. I did Atkins a couple of years ago. I lost 25 lbs. and then my job changed to a sit down job and in a year put it all back on. I got married last year and tried to lose the weight again, but just couldn't stick with anything.

I realize I don't have as much weight to lose as some people, but I am only 5'2" so every pound shows.

This time around I have support from friends who have joined in on the journey. We started last week and keep a personal journal with why we eat, when and what and our feelings at the time of cravings.

So far I haven't cheated one time. My daughter got a reeses cup (those are my all time favorites) and she asked me if I wanted one, I said no but could I lick her fingers. She wouldn't let me.

Today was our first day of exercise. We basically went to see what the gym was like. I did 15 min. on the treadmill and 10 on the bike. Tomorrow will be our official start day for exercise. I am only going to work out 30 min. a day 3 times a week. I have asthma and need to work myself up to it. Then I will add in the weight training on the off days.

It's been a week of eating right and I have to admit I feel sooooooooo much better. I quit drinking soda all together. Haven't had one since Jan 2, 2007. I feel more awake, not so lazy.

My husband has gone on this journey with us. He didn't lose any this week, but has lost inches. He told me he actually feels a lot better.

The hardest part of trying to diet is I have 4 kids. Two of these kids play every sport possible. I get off work and have to run to a game 3 to 4 times a night. That makes for trying to fit in a good meal very hard.

Now on the good side I started doing this: Each week I make a menu for the following week. On game nights I put stuff in the crock pot. If my older daughter wants potatoes then she has to fix them. Potatoes are my downfall. can't eat just one.......We even went shopping for work. We have a forman grill (which I highly recommend). This time around for me seems so easy. Maybe it's because I have the support and we keep each other honest.

That's enough for now.

Sounds like you have the strategy and support you need to be a complete success! Congrats! I admire, too, that you've gone off sodas all-together and basically cold-turkey! Wow! That's one of my goals for this year, to take soda completely out of my diet.

Soda is my enemy. I wouldn't drink just one. I will not even add diet. I can't stand the stuff. Water is just fine.

I am supposed to go work out this morning, but my asthma is kicking in full force today.

Went to the gym this morning and worked out for 40 minutes. The instructor made us up a work schedule, which is so nice now I don't feel like I am wondering around.

Asthma kicked in pretty good this morning. Made the work out go slow. Maybe getting exercise will help my lung capacity.

I made it 1 hour at the gym yesterday. I was so proud of myself. I haven't been that active in, well, 20 years. I have become such a couch potatoe.

I am kind of sore, especially my back. I think it was from the rowing machine and hunching over. I need to work on my posture.

I still haven't had one cheat, and boy did I have the urge to yesterday. I made the mistake of going and working out and then going to the grocery store. Oh, I just wanted one ding dong or reeses peanut butter cup. but I refrained.

That 1 hour in the gym is catching up with me. My back is really hurting today. I guess I think I can take off that 30 pounds in one work out. I'm going to have to take it easier. I didn't gain weight in one night. Although it sure seems like it.

Last night I smoked my last cigerette. I will not gain any weight from not smoking. That is why I started the low carb and the work out at the gyms.

I quit smoking one other time and gained 25 lbs. I take a look back at why and it's because instead of smoking I would put chips, cookies etc in my body instead of something healthy.

I can do this: Quit smoking and still lose weight. I am bound and determined.
