Saw this on another post and really liked it:
THE SCALE A biologist at Berkeley shared something very revealing on the low-carb BBS system about 4 years ago that helps us all through the erratic weight fluctuations you invariably encounter: “Fat cells are resilient, stubborn little creatures that do not want to give up their actual cell volume. Over a period of weeks, maybe months of “proper dieting”, each of your fat cells may have actually lost a good percentage of the actual fat contained in those cells. But the fat cells themselves, stubborn little guys, replace that lost fat with water to retain their size. That is, instead of shrinking to match the reduced amount of fat in the cell, they stay the same size! Result – you weigh the same, look the same, maybe even gained some scale weight, even though you have actually lost some serious fat.”

Weighed in at 185 so its nice that the weight stuck and wasn't a mistake. Not feeling good today with my stomach for some reason - think its some sort of bug so just laying low. Had an Atkins shake - no treadmill today. I am really hungry but my belly just doesn't feel up to it...

185.5 this morning but didn't get my appetite until around 8ish and ate a lot (all carb-safe) but I am sure that is why I had the .5. Feeling a bit better than yesterday - think I had a little stomach bug. Going to try the treadmill this morning - may not be able to run but we will see.
My big goal was to get out of the 190s so I feel really happy with that - and 185 was a goal I reach also. Now, I have to be patient going for 180. But, I would love to be closer to 180 around my birthday but the reality is that is TOM time so it may not happen. |

Hi Twinmom. Just read your journal. You are consistantly losing, which is great. And fitting into a size 12!
Wonderful. KUTGW.How many carbs do your shakes have? Intersting that drinking those helps your loss. Last year I found that if I made shakes for dinner (a chocolate whey protein powder shake) I lost better, but they don't fill me up. |

Hi Sue - Thanks for posting - I had no idea anyone read this but me.
I don't have any of the EAS shakes left in my fridge but I think they are 2 carbs - the Atkins ones have 5 carbs (1 net). I agree though, they aren't that filling - by lunchtime I am really hungry. I just have to be careful about not over-doing it at lunch. Thanks for commenting - you have had a great loss yourself. |

Realized I am feeling full and bloated so now starts the pre-TOM bloat which drives me nutty. Most likely skipping my weigh-in and treadmill as its Saturday but we will see.
Next week is my birthday and I can't remember my birthday goal but I will have to check back in my journal and see if I made it. |

Thank you Sue - I really appreciate the support and encouragement.
Today I thought for sure that TOM would arrive - weighed in at 186 but TOM is right around the corner. Felt pretty awful but power-walked 2 miles rather than run on the treadmill. Went shopping and bought size 14s in everything - they fit perfectly. Not the size I want but much better than the 18s I was fitting in at the same store in December. Of course, I know I will lose more but at that point I will just buy more clothes. |

Isn't it great to fit into a smaller size. Sometimes it seems that the loss takes so long, but smaller sizes makes the whole process worth it! Congrats!

Ran 2 miles and walked 1 today - kicking up the treadmill workout to that extra 15 mins to make 45 total for me. Eventually I would like to get an hour in... Still waiting for TOM. ![]() |

Still waiting for TOM - will probably arrive on my birthday tomorrow. Feeling pretty good - have pants on that didn't fit two weeks ago and now they feel loose. Not jumping on the treadmill yet this morning - going to wait until lunchtime as I have stuff to do this morning.
Weigh in - 186 - but TOM is right around the corner so that is very good..... |

Isn't it amazing how fast the sizes drop? You're doing great! You'll probably have a whoosh after TOM. Here's hoping for one for you.
It's good to give those clothes away. That way, you won't have them to fall back on. |

I love the clothes sizes dropping...
TOM finally arrived today - ran my 2 miles...It's my birthday so I am going out to eat with DH for a nice low-carb meal. Funny thing I am not even tempted to eat sugar anymore. We are also going to look for a brand-new treadmill which is so exciting.... Didn't weigh because of TOM. |

Saw this recipe on another journal and really want to make it so posting it here so I can find it.
Janine’s Spinach Pie Blend together: 3 or 4 eggs 3 ounces softened cream cheese 1/2 tsp salt Add and mix well 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (other cheeses work nicely also) 1 10 ounce package frozen chopped spinach, thawed, well drained 1/4 cup chopped scallion (green onion) 2 Tbsp. dried or 4 Tbsp. fresh chopped parsley (I also add garlic powder to taste) Pour into buttered casserole (or unbaked pie shell). Top with Thin slices of fresh tomato and 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (spread evenly yet generously on top and Spray the parm. cheese with pam cooking spray - this will make a yummy crispy coating on top of the pie) Bake at 450° for about 20-25 minutes |

Congrats on your new low
I have migraines also, but can't take the meds for them because I'm allergic. That spinach pie recipe sounds good. |

Thanks Sue and you were right - I did have a whoosh - I weighed in today at 181.5.
That is a new low - TOM is gone and I am getting to my treadmill once my babysitter arrives. I am SO excited about this low and so excited to keep eating clean and get to goal.... |

Ran 1.5 miles today - walked 1....
Feeling pretty good, having some migraine issues but that is a combination of allergies and TOM leaving. Drank large amounts of water today - I am enjoying sticking with my shake for breakfast, a big lunch and a small snack for dinner. It seems to work well for me... |

Ran 3 miles - walked .3 which is nice but now I am STARVED. Think my 181 could be a fluke because today it was 183 unless I am going to bounce around between the two numbers.
Either way - I will take it... B- shake L - need to think of something quick! |

Had a busy weekend with DH and the kids so didn't log in - didn't work-out on Saturday but ran 2.5 last night and walked .5. Went to the store - was annoyed that some size 14s fit and some were tight.
Been eating well but have to be super clean and really need to set some mini-goals....1. DRINK much more water 2. only 1 Iced Coffee a day 3. plan meals better 4. get to 175 by mid-may 5. Major goal - 165 by August 3 (twins 3rd birthday) |

I have avoided the stores because I don't want to get frustrated with trying on clothes. I'm going to wait until I can't wait any longer and my clothes are bagging on me. I can lose 30 pounds but not go down a pants size - really weird, but that's how I lose. I gain all over, lose all over, and it takes me long to change sizes.

Thanks Sue - I am going to take your advice and wait a bit longer as trying on clothes is making me crazy. We are getting our bathroom remodeled so I have decided to not weigh until its done on Friday - I am toying with the idea of weighing weekly, not daily.
No running today - did aerobics. Kelly |
