Kissa's Journal

I promised myself that I woud start this today, so here goes!

I didn't wiegh in this morning after too many carbs at last night's party and then I ate a burger including the bun at the pub at lunch time. Okay let's be honest here......also some chips and a Bloody Mary, plus two Bloody Shames.

Not a good start to the year but at least I owned up.

I am setting myself these goals.

1. Continue with Atkins maintenance and do occasional M/E.

2. Continue with C25K and then on to One Hour Runner.

3. Continue with as many classes as possible at the gym including weight classes.

4. Measure myself today and once a month.

5. Weigh 122 lbs by my birthday in June. (I weighed 127 lbs yesterday morning)

I am sure I can do this, with your help and support.

I have just had a good look at my Atkin's for Life book. Very good idea.

And I remembered what a nutritionist said to me over Christmas.

"It's not what you eat between Christmas and New Year that matters, it's what you eat between New Year and Christmas."

Thanks everyone

I love these boards.

Well today was a good day, gym first thing, Week 6 Day1 of C25K. Felt tough but I guess that is the carb punishment.

Then to a friend for lunch she had done a simple salad and a quiche, great, just left the pastry and we both drank water with a slice of lemon.

To the theatre tonight, lucky me living in London. Had a ceasar salad with chicken and no croutons and more water.

I have cut way back on diet coke since joining the 'basic Yoda challenge' where we try to drink a ton of water every day. I am sure it helps, and my skin is better too. Thank you Shelly and co.

Off to bed now...with more water so I'll be up in the night, again!

A fantastic new 'Opera' at the National, called Caroline, or Change. It came over from the states and is about the changes for blacks over the time of the Kennedy assasination. A poor first half but then an astounding second half.

I had an undeserved surprise this morning my scales say 9 stone and 3/4 lbs. That is 126 and 3/4s. Lowest ever!

I don't quite understand the human body sometimes. I know that the Dr. says that eating carbs can trick your body into losing when you go back to being strict. But in just one day and a half? Still I am not complaining.

Off to gym soon. Cooking salmon and salad with some fennel tonight as we have friends coming to dinner. They get Xmas pudding, I get cheese.

Trying to stick with water instead of wine tonight....

Great job with the weight loss! Don't analyse it!!

I have never heard of that "opera"... Sounds great!

I haven't had wine in 2 days- it's killing me!!! I love my cabernet!! I'm trying to not drink at least 3-4 times a week. Wow, that looks bad when it is written down!

Have a great night with your friends!

Oh dear, I didn't get to the gym. Tomorrow is another day.

Lots of little saucison (?) to eat today. Looking forward to the salmon, stuffed with basil and red pesto, then baked in foil in the oven.

What am I like?

Didn't get up til 4 pm. Just read the newspapers cover to cover and played with the cats.

DH cooked me scrambled eggs with cheese delicious.

Since then watching TV, eating a Chocolate Decadance Bar and eating walnuts. Plus 2 glasses wine.

Last nights dinner was a great success. The salmon was delicious. 2 sides of salmon sandwiched with red pesto and fresh basil leaves, a little white wine and wrapped in foil in an oven for 30 minutes. The braised fennel was good too but I did have a tiny bit of the Xmas pudding before the cheese! And the wine was drunk too. Oh well, I must remember that I am not overweight anymore and I was having a lovely time.

So, not a good couple of days and I carefully didn't weigh today...still haven't got around to measuring myself either.

Tomorrow I will get up early, go straight to the gym, run for 25 minutes and treat myself to an English Breakfast.

Really would like to get into Ketosis, but it isn't going to happen like this.

Once again the weight loss fairy visited in the night, just when I needed a boost, only 1/2 lb but it means my scales say 9stone and a 1/4 lb That means I have the chance of seeing my weight into the 8 stone range soon.

Off to the gym where I did the 25 minutes run at 7 ks along with the warm up and cool down of course. It was much easier than last Saturday's 20 minute run. I messed up a bit this week. On Tuesday I forgot to check my 1st run on the site, so got to the gym and didn't know what I was supposed to do .

Anyway I decided 10 mins, run, 3 mins walk, 10 mins run. Not right but at least it was something. Then, because of my two lazy days, I decided to cheat today and go straight to Day 3 of Week 6. It went like a dream, maybe because of the really quiet day I had yesterday?

I came home and cooked myself bacon and 2 eggs as I had promised myself.

Since then I have had a slight problem, ahem, involving many visits to what we in the UK would call the 'loo'. Feel fine but bowels have turned to water.

Drinking lots of water, to be safe.

Had a great Shiratake noodle dinner last night, with a few olives, bacon and Boursin cheese. Loads of water too.

9 stone this morning, but that is certainly down to yesterday's gastric problems. Not to be believed. Hopefully this time next week it will be a real reading!

Not so good today. Margaritas don't really figure anywhere on low carb do they? Fajitas without the tortillas are fine but then sharing far too many Nachos rather defeats the point doesn't it?

Watched Miss Potter, nice movie, then watched my dauhgter's wedding DVD again with my sister who is staying for a few days. Dinner was on plan foodwise but a lot of wine crossed my lips.

Will drink some water hefore I go to bed.

Looked at the Cool Running site and I see I must run 25 minutes a day 3 times next week. Strangely this doesn't seem to frighten me. How strange is that?

How was Miss Potter? I really want to see that when it comes out!! Don't worry about the wine- I would die if I wasn't allowed wine on this WOE!!

25 minutes of running will be great- I don't think I could do that- I do 30 minutes on my elliptical but that is a totally different set of muscles!!

Have a great Sunday!!

LOL! I LOVE that you didn't get up til 4:00 pm on Thurs. Geez, I used to do that sometimes when I was single. I used to think I might as well enjoy it because once I'm married and have kids it won't happen anymore and boy was I right! As it turns out I was massively tired on Saturday (mostly down to TOM) and I went back to bed after breakfast because hubs didn't appreciate my personality and then returned to bed after lunch when the kids napped! Didn't bother getting dressed til about 4:00 because we went to Sainsbury's to get a rotisserie chicken for dinner. What a lazy arse!

Well a few days off while entertaining the family, always fun but not the best for eating and exercise.

I have been concerned that I wasn't running very safely and my DH who is often at the gym with me says I lean forward too much.

SO, on Monday we went to a specialist MBT shop. Masai Barefoot Technology shoes are a special shoe I wear, you can find them on the net.

Anyway the upshot is that I am not walking or running properly in them. I need to stand more upright and infact lean back in them.

When I ran on their treadmill and showed how I do it, it made a stomping noise. When the trainer did it my way she made the same noise and then, before our eyes, she straightened up and the noise just disappeared. You can imagine the stress that was putting on my ankles, knees and hips.

She gave me lots of pointers and was so interesting. Her suggestion is that I follow her advice just walking for a couple of weeks and then return and have an hours training to start running.

I think this a really good idea as at my age I wan to do this thing right and not risk injury. So I have stopped C25K until I have been back to see her.

I feel very sad about it but it is the best thing in the long term I am sure.

Going to do a few days of strict egg and meat to get me back on plan as I was up 2 lbs when I weighed this morning.

Great Journal Mum - you have really embraced this board!!!! Interesting on the MBTs - I wore mine a lot the other day - and wonder if I'm doing it all wrong too? Probably. I had thought that I might start wearing mine on the days when I do cardio - but maybe I ought to look out for a specialist here in Brisbane - if not you can teach me the correct way when you get here in April!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Vicky! Yes the MBT thing is very interesting, I will send you the tips she gave me, not just now though! What happened to your journal? It would be really inspiring for people who are interested in Body for Life....

Think I have a cold coming which is really annoying.

So far today 3 slices of smoked salmon which were cluttering up my fridge. Tonight I have a choice of pork, lamb or chicken. I think the lamb may be too high in fats if I am being strict on the M/E, but I do love it with mint sauce!

I must make sure that I do enough exercise now that C25K is on hold. The danger is that I will be lazy especially if this cold develops.

I am meeting up with a member of one of these threads this evening, to exchange Shiratake Noodles, and maybe have a drink too...black coffee did anyone say? Starbucks etc. here is bit of a flop when it comes to the cream options...ready sweetened! Thinking about it that would be no good on M/E either. Gloom.

Had such fun meeting up with Junoesque this evening. She is stunning!

Only bad bit is that I cleaned out the Shiratake Noodles from the cooler cabinet, there is another Japanese shop not far away so I must go there for more as I buy them for my daughter in Southend. She gained a bit of weight over New Year but is now down almost to her 150 lowest.

Both my girls are brilliant.

We went to Starbucks and I amazed myself by drinking 2 black coffees! I love cappucinos so that was a real breakthrough!

Back home and prepared skinless chicken breast with thyme. Have drunk loads of water and vitamin C to fight the cold.

Still haven't measured myself...

It may not last but this morning the scales said 8 stone 13 and a 1/4lbs. That is 125 1/4 lbs in American money My weight hasn't been this low except for one day after my surgery in 2002, and that wasn't the same at all.

Don't feel as toned as I like as I have a real problem with gym classes around here and the C25K is on hold so I have only walked this week.

It is really hard relearning how to walk in these shoes. I don't feel at all at ease but I am not giving up.

Not a perfect M/E day. Egg and bacon sandwich filler for B/L, probably too much fat. Pork chop with all fat cut off for dinner. But, we went next door for a drink, should have had water all evening but I weakened and had a glass of wine. Also they had very kindly cut up some cheese especially for me. So I ate it.

Let's see what tomorrow will bring. I would love to change my stats.

Well yesterday the scales held and the day started well with 2 perfectly boiled eggs brought to me in bed by DH

Then went to dear friends (Myers, Vicky) for a 2nd Xmas dinner! We had such a lovely evening and I decided to go back to maintenance for the meal. Then what little devil got into me to eat a mince pie?

Have paid the price today as this evening I have been ravenous. Only eaten chicken but couldn't resist the skin and have eaten way too much. Still feel hungry but none left! Oh how I miss ketosis.

Don't think I will weigh tomorrow, I don't want to see the bad news. Will try to get back on track and put the weekend behind me.

Sigh, there is no cure but we can overcome, most of the time.

Wine...loads, and chamagne, which thankfully I believe deeply has no calories or carbs and can never influence your weight in an nasty direction!

I was just readng your journal and thinking you should bring DH to London to go on the Tate Moderns slide exhibition. Weeeeeeeeeeee!

I read about that slide! A little pricey to take him to London at this point but I'm sure he'll find some slides to keep him occupied for a while.

Not a great day, it is amazing the damage the carbs can do.

I ate 2 bags of pork rinds, some guacamole about 7 carbs. A morning shine bar , chicken shashlik, salad and spinach. Then some low carb chocolate! Not nearly enough water either.

When I think how I was eating a week ago I feel so mad. Still it is not as bad as it could be. I am eating low carb. Might be brave enough to get on the scales tomorrow, maybe not...

Our whole house is being painted inside, starting today. Sounds nice but the chaos is awful not to mention the dust. It will take 4 weeks!

Much better yesterday. Drinking again. I meant water but then I remembered last night's champagne.

Scrambled eggs and cheese for lunch, steak and salad for dinner.

Pippa, 85 today, came around for a drink with a few others last night and we ate a tiny little bit of caviar. What a treat, divided by 5 it was not much but wow it was good. It did involve 3 tiny pieces of thin melba toast. Who cares?

Body pump this morning, I will feel that tomorrow as it is ages since I did a class.

Feel I might be ready for M/E again tomorrow.
