No, they are made with buckwheat traditionally. Try googling them. I think we call potato pancakes latkes here.

We call the potato pancakes bellinis. They are like latkes but more blended together like a batter in the blender. I believe they are a Polish tradition. Very yummy especially for breakfast. DH and I put sour cream on them but the kids dip them in ketchup.

Hope you are having fun at your other house!

Doing well on the eating but I have been enjoying my mulled wine too much!

Gym today, tomorrow and Friday, that should help. Getting my highlights done tomorrow, that always makes me feel good. Out to dinner with FIL 93 and brother in law and his lovely wife. Always enjoy their company. (SIL, nurse, is also taking out the stitches in my scalp from the lipoma removed last week!!!)

Look how long since I posted here! Last year.

I am happy to be at 132.6 this morning but I have been around this weight for almost 3 months.

So time for a shake up again. Zumba class this morning.

Aiming for stricter carb levels and no wine for a few days to see if we can get things moving down again. I get complacent, and it has to stop.

I must watch my soya milk intake too. I love my soya 'flat whites' at Costa and although they fill me up for hours, I should have no more than one a day.

I have the 'New Atkins, New You' book which allows soya milk on induction but not as much as I have been having. 3 today, bad.

Otherwise I had some egg mayo and 2 beef burger patties with salsa and some green salad with caesar dressing and some roast veggies. And lots of water.

Scales showed a pound loss this morning but I didn't go to the gym as I had planned. One of those days I just couldn't drag myself out of bed. So silly because I LOVE the classes I do once I get there. I did have a twinge of back ache too, but that went once I was moving around.

So what shall I eat today? This evening we will be having chicken thighs, I think a North African flavour would be good. I have some couscous to cook for DH so that sets a theme. I think my standby of egg mayo with lots of Frank's Hot Sauce will suffice as my 'brunch' in a while.

I have to go to the Apple store this afternoon and will allow myself one of the Costa flat whites while I am at Brent Cross.

Then the challenge then is to stick with water all evening. Could allow myself a Diet Coke! lol.

LOL the best laid plans of mice and men etc! They had run out of Soya milk so I didn't even have one of my flat whites today. Bought a jacket instead...

Off to cook dinner now, forgot to marinade the chicken thighs.

Enjoyed my chicken thighs and got to eat DH's chicken skin too. Lots of cabbage and some sauteed mushrooms, not quite North African!

Scales back to 131 this morning

I did a great Zumba class this morning and had a soya flat white at the gym afterwards. Must not have another one today.

Shortly we are off into town to the theatre, I love a matinee. Prince of Homburg, should be interesting.

Not sure whether I am cooking or if we are eating out this evening. Either way this is still a dry week for me. NO wine allowed.

Hi Kissa,

Just wanted to say hello as I've been following your posts for ages (used to read Vienna's thread all the time). I identify so much with you - maybe because I'm a british native - although I've lived in Boston for 18 years. I spend my life gaining and losing the same 15lbs - sometimes as low as 130lbs, or up at 145lbs. I am thankfully down to 130lbs right now - but have to eat very little - induction level carbs- and stay off the wine (hard for me!). I'm also trying to take exercise classes 3 times a week. I'm hoping to stay at this weight through my eldest daughter's wedding next month - but will then look to this wonderful board for motivation as the pounds try their inevitable creep back!

So, just checking in to say I love your posts and find them inspiring. For the record I'm 49 and 5ft 6.

Have a great day - Zumba sounds fun!

Jan

Kissa - you are doing AWESOME! You have inspired me to shake things up too. I haven't lost anything lately either! I don't think the wine helps me either!

Keep your journal up. I also think it helps keep oneself more accountable.

Why Jan, how lovely of you to pop in and with such kind words too. It is good to know that we can help each other on LCF without even knowing sometimes. Sounds to me as if 130 is just about perfect for you, but as you say, the trick is staying there! I bet you will look a million dollars at your daughter's wedding. Have a wonderful day.

Hi Lisa Ann, I couldn't believe it was so long since I was in here!

I really enjoyed the play, I love live theatre. Had 2 diet cokes, not ideal but better than the wine option.

Ate some lamb kebabs last night, found them deep in the freezer and they only need microwaving, delicious, ate too many. Cabbage and a little butternut squash with them. Gave DH pasta, he isn't that keen on lamb.

Today I got to the gym and enjoyed a great aerobics class she did a couple of Zumba tracks too, great instructor. Then treated myself to my one soya coffee of the day, it was delicious and is all I have eaten so far. I say eaten because that is how it feels.

Out tonight to supper followed by another show, Ann Boleyn at Shakespeare's Globe. So I don't know what I will order. Menus hold no fear for me though. The big question is, do I share a bottle of wine with DH?

Amazingly we haven't been to the Globe before. We have tickets in the covered area but rain is forecast for this evening and it is none to warm either. Typical.

Oh nearly forgot, 131.6 up a bit.

Back to 131 this morning.

I had such a great evening. They play was great, the rain held off and we enjoyed a nice meal at a Greek restaurant. We shared a Greek salad and a mixed Souvlaki platter. I left all the 'wraps' some of which DH ate and I really enjoyed the meal. We shared a carafe of red wine, so not as bad a a bottle!

This morning we took the newspaper to the park next to us and sat reading them for a couple of hours. I had bacon, eggs mushrooms and tomato too, and my soya latte, not as good as a flat white though.

Tonight friends are coming in for a drink then we are having crab claws for dinner.

I paid the price today when the scales read 132.4.

Another good breakfast in the park, lots of water, then a pork chop and mushrooms with some green beans for dinner.

Off to visit my DD in Southend tomorrow.

129.8 lbs this morning, I have been in the 130s since mid November, that's 9 months!

It may not stick but it was an uplifting moment.

Well I was 131 again this morning after a bit of a dodgy weekend. Wine and carb creep will do that. But I know the 120s are there now, not a just a figment of my imagination.

Good aerobics/weights class this morning and I hope to get in 4 days of working out this week.

Look out 120's I am coming back!

Well done Kissa for seeing the 120s - they will be back soon

I've been up 2lbs and down 2lbs and settled back at the weight I want to maintain - finding it very hard though. I've decided to try no alcohol 4 days a week....

Why is maintaining so hard?!

Have a good week.

PS love the word 'dodgy'

Oh yes, I will never give up. I am quite liking the way I look just now and will be watching veeeerrrrry carefully to see that I don't start to go far. Hope I can still look good at 126....

Don't want that gaunt look around the face that can happen at my age. One of the great things about this WOE is that the fat in it keeps our skin looking pretty good.

Oh, Cindy....so glad to see the little fairy has been visiting you and taking some pounds away with her. I'm sure you'll be beautiful at 126, but no getting out of the 120's for you! Gaunt doesn't look good on anyone! But you're so lovely, I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Have fun with Vicky. You two can work out together, yes? And how's your other daughter (I forget her name...)?

Thanks B, the scales said 129 dead today so I am doubly happy.

Yes I hope Vicky and I will work out together. She has a treadmill too so I may even push myself to use that. I really don't want my fitness levels to fall too much, it is such a struggle to get back on top of it.

If I was homeschooling 3 young children I don't think I would need to go to the gym at all. Hope all is good with you and yours.

Oh and my other daughter, Tonda, is doing great thanks.

Not doing quite so well on the eating at present. On plan but probably eating more than I need. I haven't weighed for a couple of days as I am no in Devon where my scales weigh
heavier as a rule.

I think I will face them tomorrow and see what they say but I am expecting the 130s again. My Body Combat class was great today but I fear the worst.

Still eating too much but not letting it get me down.

Have had a couple of great walks over the weekend, 7 miles today.

I did better eating today! I'm sure eating is still going okay! You have a lot of dedication and inspiration for me!

Wow, 7 miles in one day of walking is awesome! Reiley and I did 4 miles today. It was really hot but she loved it! I love great walks! I'm sure the awesome walks are helping counteract things!
