Hi Lisa, gosh I had almost forgotten that I had a journal!

I love our English pubs though I seldom drink beer. I like wine too much.

Where were at college and what did you study?

Cindy,
I'm glad I found it! I love your English pubs too. I love fish and chips and I love your tea. My mom gets me PG Tips at her local English shop in California. I seldom drink beer either. I like my wine too much too. I did like the shandys when I was there. So, I'll have one later today with DH.

I went to the University of Delaware and they had a study abroad session my senior year during our winter session. We were in London for 6 weeks studying International Business. It was a blast! We visited all of these companies around London and they wined and dined us. It was the winter all of the pipes froze and we had to move hotels because we had no water!

When I was little we had an English neighbor and she introduced me to English tea and I always wanted to visit England. I was lucky enough to be able to have a true English tea. I love a pot of tea after dinner.

Okay Cindy, How did you lose the 50+ pounds? You are my inspiration. I really want to lose the weight. Any menus or ways you really made it happen? I like my wine too. How did you incorporate it in your weight loss?

Thanks!

Feeling a bit sad today.

I have tried so hard to make Intuitive Eating my lifestyle but I am just useless at eating consciously, especially with company. So having reached a 9 year high of 145 pounds it is back to Atkins, tried and trusted and something I know will work for me.

Clean induction is called for, no booze and attention to detail!

I am also going to seriously up my fats.

This morning I needed to cook some minced beef so I had that for breakfast with Boursin cheese stirred though it and a small salad.

Drinking water. Taking Psyllium husks and must buy a multivit.

Hey ho....

Good day today. I was with a friend who totally gets Dr A having used him on and off for years, she is tiny and eats very little nowadays.

Down 1.5 lbs this morning. Waiting for Ketosis.

Hi Scrappychik, how great to see you here. I so love this board, everywhere there is support.

We can do this. I was down to 142.5 this morning.

I just joined a thread called Pre Thanksgiving Induction!!! Just 2 of us so far, why not come on over?

Loving the Pre Thanksgiving thread, hoping I will have a reason to give thanks myself this year. I loves me a bit of Turkey!

Well so far things are going really well. I am down almost 4 lbs and feeling great. Luckily I never seem to suffer from induction flu, quite the reverse. My energy levels are way up and because I am not enjoying my glass of wine each evening I am sleeping better and waking refreshed. There is message here!

One of the things I miss is coffee with skimmed milk. It is always one of the first things I add back in on OWL. Then I remembered that when I did this with my lovely daughter in 2006 she found a very low carb Soya milk. I don't have issues with soy so I went looking for some. Success.

The trick with soy milk and instant coffee is to let the coffee cool for five minutes before adding the soy, one can always nuke it up to heat again! So this morning I had my morning coffee.

One of things I have learnt from IE is to try not to eat big portions simply because I can. I had a couple of small ribs at lunch time, along with a few cherry tomatoes, about 2 hours ago and I am feeling hungry again now. So I will have a snack. That is much better than eating until I am bloated and still 'fancying' a little something later.

And first I am going to drink a full glass of water!

Tonight I am out to a lovely restaurant. I am determined not to have any wine. This is induction and NO alcohol will pass my lips.

Did fine on the eating and drinking last night and my reward is seeing the scales drop another pound this morning.

I am now in proper ketosis, nice 'moderate' dark pink colour.

Had a bad night, didn't sleep at all until after 4.30, shouldn't have had that espresso coffee! I usually ask for decaff but it slipped my mind. Did a lot of thinking and, apart from worrying that a little bit of celeriac soup might have pushed my carbs too high, came to the conclusion that I have to choose this lifestyle most of my life.

If I get to goal weight, no, when I get to goal weight, it is reasonable to ease up when on vacation etc. but on the whole this is what keeps me happy.

I intend to make a few things mike Muffins and 'cheesecake' this afternoon. Nice to have some 'indulgences' now and then.

That is just like me, I want to be 5'4" so that is what I put, but I guess 5'3.5" is nearer the truth for me. So we have about the same goal weight!

As I suspected, all that sodium in last night's dinner took its toll and I was up half a pound this morning.

I am not downhearted though. I will be a little more sensible today and it will be gone in a trice.

I went to a Body Balance class this morning as I felt the need for some serious stretching after the 2 days of intense aerobic workouts. It was good for a change and and I should try to do it more often, especially at my age.

I started the day...(just now, I am so bad in the morning and skip breakfast way too often)... with the last of the ribs I prepared a few days ago, with lots of mayo. I have given up on Hellmans it is really pretty tasteless. I found a really nice French one that is zero carb and packs some punch, much nicer. I always mean to make my own but never do....

Never did do that baking yesterday either, today!

I made the Best.Ever.Cheesecake this afternoon with lemon/lime jello. It is a great success and I am serving some to my DH and FIL on Sunday after a roast pork lunch.

I shall also be having some this evening after a dinner of chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, some braised celery and a salad. Oh how we suffer here on induction, lol.

Had a cup of herbal tea and some sausages at tea time and a coffee with cream at about 2.30. All in all the day is going well.

That cheesecake sounds so yummy, Kissa! As I mentioned before, I'm not doing any LC sweets right now cuz of my PC issues, but I will definitely be enjoying a LC dessert on Thanksgiving. This just might be the one...recipe please?

Here is the thread Best. Cheesecake. Ever.

I used lemon/lime sugar free jelly and the cream cheese and that was it. Some people like it sweeter but I liked it just as is came out. I have a bath still on the go that I am eating slowly 1/16th at a time! Had one earlier today after my egg and bacon brunch.

I was so glad to see the back of that half a pound, now it is look out 130's here I come.

Good day today, despite not going to the gym,I just felt that things were piling up in the house that I was neglecting, for instance making up 5 beds, my least favourite household task.

So I started my day (no weight change) with 4 rashers of bacon and then set to with a vengeance on the beds. That lead to various other jobs and the decision to buy some new pillows.

I had another appointment with my beauty therapist at 3pm so grabbed a bit of cheese before I left. On the way home I bought the pillows and I am now preparing dinner, chicken breasts stuffed with cheese and wrapped in Parma ham with left over broccoli and cauliflower purée. Also cooking some Sicilian sausages to act as snacks over the next few days.

Oh I just remembered I had one of my few shakes when I got home! 1.5 carbs. I haven't drunk enough water so I had better put that right.

Hoping for a drop in weight tomorrow.

Most welcome Lisa

I have had a couple of good days eating. My appetite is right down now so it tis easier and easier to control what I choose.

I was a bit surprised to gain .5 of a pound this morning, but perhaps I didn't get in enough water yesterday.

Back in London now where I live a much more social life so things are somewhat more difficult. I officially finish my 2 weeks of Induction on Saturday. Friends are coming over for a drink and nibbles that evening and I plan to enjoy a couple of glasses of Champagne. I am going to prepare some devilled eggs and chilli/boursin popovers. May have some sliced sausage too, although my friend is a vegatarian.

I shall basically stick to induction levels for at least another 2 weeks, allowing the odd glass of wine... Wish me luck.

Where do the days go!

I have completed my 14 days induction with a 5 pound weight loss. This is 25% of the weight I hope to lose. I call that a success!!!

There is a part of me that would have liked to see more, but I am not going to allow that bit out!

I enjoyed some champagne this evening with friends but otherwise have eaten on plan. Tomorrow I will be out for a nice lunch with friends and then on to a show, but I will not be enjoying wine with the meal. Water will do me fine.
