How lovely to see you popping in B, I though you had fallen off the planet, lol.

Yes, this JUDDD is really working for me at present. I am astonished at how the weight is dropping off.

How are things at your end?

Hi Meek.

B, so glad you are going to get some meds. We always wondered about thyroid didn't we?

After an UD yesterday I was delighted to see 126 this morning.

Off to the cinema where I shall drink a diet coke and take some home made light popcorn.

125.4 after my lovely UD yesterday. I had chicken wings and salad with a few fries at lunchtime. Then in the evening I had moules and frites with a glass of white wine. Oh and a soya latte.

Today my DD2, MintQ8, started JUDDD with me.

My cals were 501 and hers were 442, watch her shrink.

I love that she has you to have blazed the trail before her. It can save us so much of the frustration and alarm when those wild JUDDD fluctuations hit us, and we're afraid something is going terribly wrong and we're not doing it right and it's making us gain weight instead of losing. Having a calming hand of experience to tell us that *Yup.. that's JUDDD* but hang in there because the up fluctuations are offset by the down fluctuations, and in the end, you slim down while eating very, very well.

I'm expecting her to do a lovely job with this. Tell her to start planning what all she's going to need for her new wardrobe of little sizes. It's going to be needed shortly.

:yummyExactly Pat. She is going travelling quite a bit before Xmas but I know if she can just keep to low numbers for a couple of weeks she will be able to wing the odd MD when she is staying with friends and family.

I was 124.8 this morning and have just done a very tough aerobic/toning class.

I was thinking as I did it how much easier it is to bounce around carrying 14 fewer pounds than I had 3 or 4 months ago. And my gym pants were slipping dow, lol.

UD today.

Bad, greenteam!

126 this morning after yesterday's UD, no surprise there then.

Went to a German Xmas Market and had a carb fest and lots of Gluhwein.

Sensible day today, chicken wings and salad for lunch, a cup of coffee, a cup of tea with a little cookie and some shrimps in spicy soup planned for this evening. Should add up to around 550 cals.

Scales were down 1.2 lbs after yesterday UD of delicious foods.

Cindy,

Yours is probably the second journal I've ever visited in the 10 years I've been a member of LCF!

Just thought I'd drop by to see how you're doing, although I already know you have been stellar with JUDDD.

Your numbers keep coming down, and I think you are such a wonderful role model for Vicky!

Following you is not such a bad idea for a few more of us, too!

How lovely to have you visit Gracie. Yes Vicky and I are having such fun doing this together.

I was down to 124.4 today, a new low. I had a good UD today, hard to count my cals exactly but I am guessing it was around the 1600.

Hi B! Hi Gracie!

124 dead this morning. I am in awe of how this works for me. I don't believe I have ever seen such a 'good' weight loss pattern, at least i can't remember it, even in early Atkins days.

I know it will be up after today's UD but that is just natural.

I have just enjoyed to slices of toast with Marmite, One had Peanut butter with it and one had grilled cheddar on top.

As a Brit, can you give me any advice about carb numbers on food labels here? It drives me mad, when I'm working things out, that some labels show net carbs and some show total carbs. I compare with the details on the American USDA site, but sometimes their description of types of food is different, and, worse, they don't always tally with the British labels. For example:

Tesco pecans (100g): Carbs 5.5 Fibre 4.7

USDA figures for pecans: Carbs 13.86 Fibre 9.6

So even if you add the two Tesco figures together the result is very different.

Co-op Brazil nuts: Carbs 3.1 Fibre 7.5

USDA figures for Brazils: Carbs 12.27 Fibre 7.5

I'm going by USDA, where I can, to be on the safe side--but I may be stinting myself unnecessarily. And I haven't got their ratings with me in the shop. What bugs me is that sometimes I'm probably reading net carbs as carbs by mistake--because labels here tend to use both systems, depending on the company.

I'd add that in my opinion the labels shouldn't show net carbs, at least without an explanation. There are only three food macronutrients, and fibre isn't one of them. Fibre may not be digested, but it weighs something, and so, for a time, will register on the scale. Is the printing of the net carb (optimistically calculated, it seems) on packs another piece of dissembling by the food trade?

Oh, you have opened a can of worms here!

Personally, I have never worried abut the US system. I simply read the UK carb count on food labels which, as you have seen, is generally net carbs, so minus the fibre.

If you need more input may I suggest you ask on the UK thread? http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...uk-expats.html There are many more experienced than me there.

Although I am doing JUDDD just now, I did lose 4 stone following Atkins and only used the UK carb counts on the labels.

A bottle of champagne does not fit into any eating plan. But it is nice.

So is pasta, as are potato chips and mixed nuts and cheese straws.

Thank goodness I have a really hard aerobic class in the morning and a lovely healing DD tomorrow.

5th today, I am so lazy with my journal.

Been, Up and Down, up as high a 126.6 even, lol, but today I was very happy to see 124.2 lbs.

I am just so enjoying the freedom this gives me. This was my experience yesterday...

"I faced a new challenge today and I think I overcame it. DH wanted to try a new restaurant for lunch. My first reaction was, no thanks today is a DD. But then I thought to myself, I am in maintenance, I should be able to eat out if I want to. This is going to be my chosen way of life for a long time.

So off we went. I ordered a fishcake with a poached egg on top served with some spinach, and diet coke. I do not know the calorie count because this was a restaurant which has no nutritional info available. So I made a considered choice, and went with it.

I had no breakfast and the only other thing I have had today was a macchiato and a few blueberries a little while ago.

I think I had a good DD. Looking forward to seeing what the scales tell me tomorrow."

As you see, the scales were kind!

Today I ate a tuna sandwich, steak and chips some veggies, a couple of soya lattes and red wine with crisps. Impossible... or is it?
