I'm doing this 4 me only! (Dropping over 200lbs.)

OK, I have never attempted to have a weightloss journal but, judging from what I've seen here, it really helps. So, I'm going to give it a try.

About me:
I've been overweight all of my life. I hit 200 lbs. by 6th grade, surpassed 300 lb. by the time I finished college and now here I am. All my life I was tormented about my weight and called every name imaginable. Even today I notice "the look" that I'm sure many people here can relate to. The way people move out of the way when walking down a hall as if there's no way we can both fit. The way some people either look at me in disguist or ignore me altogether. I could be bitter...I am a little but it's more about mother issues than weight. I actually appreciate what I've gone through, its made me a very strong person and helped me to realize who I am despite what others may think. Through all of this, I have learned that I have to want to do this for me and only me. I can never satisfy other's, they'll always find something else I "need" to fix. So, this journal and this journey is 4MEONLY!

So, I've attempted many weightloss plans......for like a few days. I've never really been able to commit. Carbs have historically had a death grip on me. I even tried hypnosis ( a true waste of time and money)! This time seems very different though. For some reason, it hasn't been a struggle at all. It's actually been pretty easy these past few days. I had heard that the first few days- week would be the hardest but it's been smooth sailing. I don't really miss the carbs, I don't feel ravenous anymore, and emotionally I am feeling better. I hope I keep feeling this way...and maybe even better.

MY GOAL:

OK enough rambling.... let's talk about goals! I need to go from 366lbs. to possibly 150lbs. I say possibly because the last time I weighed 150 was in 3rd grade I think so I have no idea what that will look or feel like on me. We'll see. Anyway, I've decided to break this enormous amount of weight I have to lose into mini goals. I'm going to do 12 lb. mini goals and I hope that by the time I graduate from grad school in the Summer of 2008 and a year before I hit the BIG 30, I'll have reached my goal.

Monet0329: Yeah my first visitor! Thanks Monet and welcome to my journal. I feel the same way about those type of people. You are doing a great job, keep up the good work.

I am going to start exercising soon. My hubby and I went to a fitness store and bought an elliptical. It should arrive by Monday but I have to wait until next Saturday for it to be delivered because they only deliver between 10-1 on weekdays .

It's been a while since I really exercised but I do love the elliptical so I don't think it will be a problem. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do but I hope to start out atleast with 30-45 min. 5 x a week.

I haven't been here in a few days. But, Finals are over!!!!! Yeah. I have been busy busy busy. Anyway, I haven't cheated! Yay! Although I was really temmpted tonight because I DID NOT feel like cooking. I'm making LC pizza now so, I'm having to learn to just do it and not complain.

Hi Monet
Hopefully I will start putting my menus on by next week.

OK I just discovered that I'm not supposed to be consuming caffeine. Well that's what I get for going LC my way i.e. not reading "the book". So goodbye diet coke and tea for now. Maybe cutting those out will make the weight come off even faster.

OK i just read that the caffeine affects some people but not others. Maybe I'll just cut back and see what happens .

So my menu today....

B: 2 BOILED EGGS

S: Some cheese squares

L: 5 Hot wings w/ blue cheese and salad

S: Hot wings again and a diet cherry coke

D: 3 eggs and 3 sausage links and earl gray tea w/ splenda

Lots of water

I see some people's menus and wonder if I'm eating too much ? I definitely feel like I don't eat as much as I used to.

I can't wait for my elliptical to arrive on Saturday! I'm ready to get started.

I love your slogan, "for me only." That truly is the only way to lose weight. You have to do it for yourself. It sounds like you're on your way to success. Good luck.

So I think how much each person eats totally depends on who they are. Also, when starting a diet, you can't just decide to completely stop eating. You have to slowly lower how much you eat otherwise it is too tough right of the bat and you can get discouraged and quit. At least thats how it is for me. If you are worried that you may be eating too much, try replacing perhaps the hot wings with fruit. Fruit has carbs but they are healthy ones. You can also try drinking more water. It fills you up and you aren't as hungry at meal times. These are just some suggestions that I find help me.

Dr. A says eat til you are full and don't eat when you aren't hungry. Don't eat any fruit if you're inducting and be sure to measure the vegies. Add fat to your protein and it will keep you full. Just drink when you are thirsty...there's no reason to drink any more than that. Be sure to re-read the rules of induction.

Thanks Morgan, Richelle, luv2knit, and Monet for your replies and encouragement.

I actually need to get the book. I've been reading about LC online and getting bits and pieces here and their which may not be sufficient. I think I'll go and get it this weekend.
Today I will finally get my elliptical!

SO, I'm going to post yesterdays menu, but be forewarned I did go out last night with coworkers/friends and celebrated the end of the semester and not having to go back to work until 1/03/07 YES!!!!!!! I was a little bad but I'm right back on track this morning and don't feel like eating anything bad today.

B: 1 Boiled egg and some cheese squares
L: Salad with turkey and Ceasar dressing
D:Veal parmigiana, italian bread, Milkshake

Surprisingly, I wasn't really into it, the food was ok but not so good to keep eating it. I brought 80% of it home to my husband. I did however drink most of the milkshake, but my stomach did not appreciate that and made it quite clear last night .

This morning though I am eating eggs and bacon or sausage.

I'll post the rest of my menu later.

Tomorrow I'll weigh in . I wonder if what I ate last night will mess me up ???

So the rest of my menu yesterday was:

Cheese squares
2 breadless burgers
Turkey leg with a salad

So I've been reading more and I think I'm doing this not quite right . I weighed in this morning and I've only lost 1 pound since I weighed last week which is a total of 9 pounds in 2 weeks which is not good ! I think I need to cut out the cheeses and not eat so many vegetables. I'm going to try and stick to the Atkins induction starting tomorrow and see if that helps instead of doing LC "my way" .

Good news, I got my elliptical!!!! All we did yesterday was take it out of the gigantic box. We were working around the house all day (which can be considered exercise). We just have to assemble a few parts and I'll be ready to go. I can't wait .

Hey Monet! We just finished putting it together. It was surprisingly quick, most of it was already assembled we just had to attach the arms, foot plates, and readout console. So, I guess this means I have to exercise tomorrow. You're welcome to try it out but I'm thinking commuting to workout in VA everyday might be a bit much.

Thanks Penny, I'm trying.

So today's menu was/is...

3 Eggs and 3 pieces of bacon
Steakums with a sprinkling of Moz. cheese, onions and green peppers
1 cup of hot and sour soup
T-bone and 1 cup salad w/ceasar dressing

1 Tea, Lots of water, 1 Diet Coke

OK so I'm going to have to work up to 30-45 min on the elliptical. I guess I'm more out of shape than I thought, HA! Not that being over 300lbs. is anywhere in the range of being in shape.....unless you're a male bodybuilder or something. Geez! Anyway, I had to struggle to get to 20 min. this morning. That's bad considering 8-9 months ago I could do 45 min.-1 hour on the elliptical with no problem. Anway, hopefully I'll be able to do 30 min. by Jan. 2.

Workout Stats
Elliptical: 20 min., 1.23 mi., interval program

I all of a sudden want chocolate really really bad. What the heck is going on? Luckily I don't have any in the house. If it wasn't so cold out I'd probably go get some sugar free chocolate or something .
I guess I just need to sleep it off.

Hi Monet and Coconutty!

I got over it with a turkey and cheese rollup and some hot tea. It was hard but I got through it.

So I've finally run out of diet coke. I'm not buying anymore....the scale isn't moving in the right direction , hopefully cutting this out will help.

The elliptical kicked my butt this morning! I almost fell out , but I survived and managed to tack on another minute!

Workout Stats
Elliptical: 21 min., 1.20 mi., Peak program (AKA Huge Frickin Hill of Torture program)
