I've been struggling with staying on plan. I feel like I don't have a goal.

So, I had the stomach flu. Nothing like being sick to clear your head and get your priorities back in order. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about why I do the things I do. Lately, I've been feeling very rebellious. Feeling rebellious leads to acting rebellious. How does this "good girl" rebel? By eating off plan and bingeing. Ummmm, how does that help?

I also realized that I need goals....goals to attain something....not just satisfaction. Bigger goals, not just "stay on plan this week....drink 10 glasses of water. Those are good goals, they just aren't working for me right now. I think I get bored easily. Boredom=not eating right.

Here are some of my goals for the future:

The T-Tapp 60-Day Challenge starts mid-May. It was such an incredible experience to enter and win last year.

There is a T-Tapp workshop in May that I plan to attend. A good goal to work towards.

There is another T-Tapp workshop in September that I will attend.

Still going with the goal thing....I love those Troll or Pandora Bead bracelets but can not afford them. A local store just started carrying Bauble Lulu beads which are compatible with the Troll/Pandora Beads but are WAY less expensive. Each glass bead is only $5.99! Today, I bought a bracelet and some beads. I am wearing the plain bracelet to represent my commitment to myself. For every 5 lbs. I lose, I will add a glass bead. I have the next (first) glass bead sitting on the windowsill in my kitchen to remind me of my goal.

No workout today as my stomach is really queasy.

Got a stack of books from the library-New Atkins being one of them-and will spend the evening reading.

Stomach is still feeling queasy.

My bead/bracelet motivation is really helping me. There were so many times that I looked at that little bead on the windowsill and didn't eat the corn chip, etc. It's such a visual reminder to myself, but one that is a secret. I don't want to explain to other people goal pictures on the fridge, quippy sayings taped to the cupboard door. Too personal. Sometimes keeping-things-a-secret thing thwarts my efforts. I just don't want to open myself up to conversations/criticisms.

There are so many layers to this weight issue.

I whooshed down 3 lbs. overnight!

Things are happening! Hormones are really moving. I started my SECOND TOM of the month I guess it's payback for going 42 days last month. Like that was any fun?

I can only assume that things are getting regulated. Hoping this is the only month that will be like this.

Pauline,

Thank you so much for the encouragement! You don't know how much it means to me!

I've had a year of seeing what I could get away with and it's not pretty. The important thing is that I've learned and moved on! I am seven days on plan. Exercise starts soon.

Here's to a great 2011! My word for the year is "Consistency!"

Happy New Year, Pauline!

So, looking back, I think I can best sum it up by saying , "I got scared." I got scared of being thin, of being fit, of achieving the goals I set forth, and so I just quit...quit eating the way I knew I should, pretty much quit T-Tapping. Oh, I made the occasional effort, but it didn't last very long. Low Carb didn't stop working. T-Tapp didn't stop working. I stopped working.

So, a week or two before Christmas, I did some assessing. Real honesty with myself. I didn't really like what I saw. Denial leads to all types of bad feelings and I was living in denial for about a year or so.

So, here I am. Back in the game and it feels pretty darn good. What am I going to do about the fear? I don't really know, but I need to lose some more weight before I get close again. Maybe now that I'm more aware, I can work on it before I get there again.

Elizabeth, this is an awakening for you. Are you paying attention?

Fear is the prison of your heart.

You're back in your game? You feel pretty darn good? Look it square in the face and don't blink.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every expierence in which you really stop to look fear in the face.
You are able to say to yourself. "I lived through this horror.
I can take the next thing that comes along."

Elenor Roosevelt, You Learn By Living. 1960
