Thanks, Pauline. What you wrote today in your journal has really affected me and I've been mulling it over all day. Some of the emotional junk I'm going through right now is about standing up for my family and our schedule and our needs~much to the chagrin of other family members. What is really painful is the accusation that all of these "problem" are my fault because I am rocking the boat. I am going against the expectations.

Another interesting thing is the book you recommended to someone in the main lobby. When I looked up Binge No More on Amazon, I noticed that one of their "key phrases" was "anger avoiders." That definitely describes me! I hate to feel anger and so I try to cram it down with food. I hate when others are mad at me and usually will sacrifice greatly in order for them to not be angry. Both are not very healthy.

I suppose that being able to identify these things help to bring about the healing.

I have to say I had a much better 3 weeks here than I have ever had before due to some of this "standing up for myself and the kids/husband" than ever before. I just have been less irritable knowing I was going to weigh priorities every time I was asked to do something we did not want to do .. and part of that was realizing that I had met my responsibilities to the others already and should not have to interfere with our wants and needs every single time it came up ... I think "they" have gotten used to it already - which is pretty darn quick - especially as it is not as though I nix these "responsibilities" every single time, just enough to make us happy and them happy ...

I know it starts out rough, but it is a good thing you are thinking these things over .. I am happy for you!!!!

I'm still in the stage where I feel really uncomfortable standing up for myself/kids/husband. So, I feel horrible if I don't say anything and horrible if I do. I need help! It doesn't help that my husband is also a "nice guy" and doesn't usually rock the boat over his needs with his/my family. We are the ultimate "go-with-the-flow" family.

Elizabeth ... it is not so much that I would be confrontational - that was successful for me this time - but more that i would be proactive. In other words, things like, telling them up front that i'd be going to the gym in the mornings and back for lunchtime ... like asking, what their plan was for the day with their guests and then saying, well, we'll join you for x but not for y, or saying "Well, the kids will need more defeinite plans for lunch and "I don't want to cramp your style," so we'll eat here and meet you later, etc etc ...

I know it doesn't come naturally - didn't for me either, maybe try it out once on one thing that's important and see how it goes and then little by little others will get used to it and so will you ...

Some of the emotional extended family junk that I've been dealing with is starting to resolve. I seem to be on the edge lately. I'm hoping that goes away soon.

Had a blood test on Friday for my Thyroid. Will see the Dr. on Tuesday to get the results. Hoping they bump up my Synthroid again. I'm exhausted and up to 8 cups a coffee a day again. I suppose it could be the stress.

I started walking again. Since last Sunday, I've walked four hours. Hope to get some in today and tomorrow.

I abandoned T-Tapp. Sigh! Need to get back to that as well.

Eating is good. I am continually astounded that I have not binged once since this whole ordeal started in the middle of May. God is good!

Still no weight loss. I looked back through ****** and the last day I lost any weight was April 3. At least I know how to maintain, right? LOL Again, I hope they bump my Synthroid or run some other tests to see what is going on with me.

Oh, I can't believe I missed my 13 months on plan anniversary. It was yesterday. I guess it just means that I'm not obsessing about it anymore. I know I can do it and have been doing it.

Going to another party at my friends' with the outside pizza oven. I just eat the toppings.

Party was fun. Only ate pizza toppings which made me starved for the next two days. Can't......Stop......Eating.......Only LC, of course. I need a new game plan for the pizza party since I have another event at this very same friends house next weekend. My plan: Eat like I don't have a party to go to. So, I will eat a complete meal before going and then probably forego the pizza toppings when I get there. It's a beautiful setting and I can totally avoid the food because there will be lots of friends and conversation. If I do get hungry, I'll eat. Hopefully this will stop the ravenous hunger I feel afterwards and the next day. I think the hunger is actual physical hunger and not emotional hunger. Of course, calories are low on those days, so maybe I am setting myself up for emotional eating. We'll see if the new plan works.

In other news, I just got back from my Dr.'s. My thyroid numbers have drifted again. He upped my Synthroid. Hopefully this will jump start my weight loss again.

Walked for 50 minutes last night.

Good news on the medicine adjustment!!! I wanted to pop in and mention that I have found part of my issue at social occasions comes when I know I have planned to forgo something I know I culd "technically" have .. and if my plan is just "not to have it", that is when I get into trouble. In my case, no matter what I eat beforehand I will be drawn like a lemming to the cliff of pizza toppings .. or whatever, lol!! I realize that not everyone is like this and you may be very different, but I just thought I'd mention it ..

My solution has had to be either 1. know I am going to have some of it and just plan around that, or 2. to disallow it and instead bring my food to eat at the same time everyone else is eating theirs - I actually found that this works and I do not feel deprived of that food ...

Your brain may work entirely differently, but thought I'd mention it as it is something I have figured out only recently.

p.s. I am liking celery and it's crunchiness for helping with the non-stop hunger .. even going so far as beinging it to the movies and cutting it into bite size "munch" pieces, lol!

I am frustrated. I eating how I know I need to eat. I am eating LC. I am not bingeing. I am not letting a bite here and a bite here creep in. I am up to 188. 188! I have gained 5 lbs.! For what? It is not TOM. I am not holding water. This is just what I weigh now and have for about two weeks. It's frustrating the heck out of me.

No, I'm not posting my food in ******. I feel like I am on the edge of obsessiveness and I know that ****** tends to send me that way.

I know my thyroid is a little off, but I've adjusted my meds and nothing.

My frustration is that my body is not responding the way it is "supposed" to.

Just needed to vent. Don't worry, I'm staying the course.

Thank you so much, Pauline!

I cannot believe that summer is over. I have accomplished very little of what I wanted to

Two of my children celebrated their birthdays in the month of August. They were wonderful celebrations.

I feel like I've spent most of the summer in a bad mood, depressed, or with a migraine. Oh wait, there was that part where the stomach bug went through the family. LOL

My weight has stayed in the same three pound range...185-188. I suppose that is good. I have not "gained" despite the stress. I feel bored though. I need to mix things up.

I have not been exercising much. The T-Tapp DVDs are sitting on top of the TV. I know that exercise is important. I think it will help with depression and migraines. How many times have I posted about starting an exercise "program" and then forgotten about it? The thing that seemed to work the best for me was earlier this year when I made myself get on the exercise bike for at least five minutes a day. Each day grew exponentially and before I knew it, I was working out for more than 30 minutes about five days a week. I rode my exercise bike yesterday for 18 minutes and today for 30 minutes. I want to build on this.
