Thanks again for the great compliments! Huge ego booster. LOL

I've finally finished the 22 costumes. I'll need to get some pics up. I am so relieved to be done. It was a tremendous amount of work. LOL

I can't wait until next week. I have about 10 flats of flowers and 20 perennials to plant. Gardening has to be one of my favorite things on earth to do. LOL

I think I've mentioned before that I have very few "eating issues" during gardening season. Hopefully, since I'm eating low carb, I'll lose some weight this summer. I'm coming up on my 11 month anniversary. I am so proud of me. LOL

Lots of parties this weekend. I posted about planning ahead in the Main Lobby.

Took my kids to see the Prince Caspian movie yesterday. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Loved it! I highly recommend it!

Wow Elizabeth!!!! 22 costumes .. you are amazing!!!!!!!!! Loved your Main Board post!! It is always shocking to me how many people don't even think to plan ahead and then lament how they messed up becasue there was "nothing to eat" - I am sure you helped some poor souls out there to do the right thing next time! More good Karma on Garden Girl's slate ...

You guys are so sweet, but if you saw the state of my house and my laundry, you won't be complimenting me. I've totally neglected things around here. "Luckily" it is supposed to rain tomorrow, so I can get caught up.

******

I am feeling fantastic about things. I know that it is because I've been outside digging in the dirt for the past couple of days. I get truly hungry because I'm working really hard. I also forget to eat. Me, forget to eat!

I had a very successful weekend. Two parties and a dinner out at a restaurant. I looked at all the food at the parties and the menu and it doesn't even seem like I used to eat that stuff. Oh, I am painfully aware that I could very easily start back down the horrid path with just one or two careless bites, but the me that I am now just doesn't even seem to be enticed. I immediately start thinking about how the food will taste paste-y, how my stomach will hurt because I will eat too much, how cranky I will feel, etc. and the LC food instantly looks better.

Five more days until my 11 month anniversary and I can honestly believe that I will make it to one year and then to goal! I could never really see it before. What is interesting to me is that the whole diet obsession doesn't even take up much of my thoughts any more. I have to be careful, but this is just how I eat now. Doesn't even take much time to plan meals or grocery shop.

I had a really wonderful thing happen. There is a long history with my in-laws about weight issues. Of course, I have contributed to it because I have been on a million diets. When I went to visit them in November, I didn't make a big deal about it, but I packed all my own food and took it with me. I ate on plan the whole time. At the time, I really hadn't lost much. We are planning to go visit them in June. My mil said, "I've heard that you've been on Atkins since last summer and that you've lost a lot of weight. What food do I need to buy for you?" And she was super nice and sincere about it. It made me feel fantastic. While I'm not losing this weight for anyone, I know that they will be pleased.

I am so happy for you Elizabeth!! Isn't it the greatest feeling to know that you can do this and that you will do this and not to feel some large deadline looming ... to know that it will just happen almost effortlessly (most of the time).

That is wonderful that your MIL is being so supportive as to ask you how she can help when you visit ... just wait until she sees you! November to June is a long time and, to people who have not seen you, your weightloss will seem miraculous ... like those paid-for-tv ads. And you will deserve every word of praise you will get!!!

p.s. Spring helps too doesn't it!!! I just trimmed my boxwood hedges, lol! and what a weird thing how happy I feel when my hedges look good

Monet, you have to be one of the sweetest people!

I absolutely know that you can do this! I am really rooting for you on June 2!

The thing that finally made it happen for me was never giving up. You have that same spirit! It's also the law of averages. You try and try and try and sooner or later you are bound to succeed. Busy, busy couple of days!

I cut myself in my garden with a rusty nail and needed to get a Tetanus shot. It really threw me for a loop. My arm, neck, and shoulder really hurt, which I know is "normal." I also have had an upset stomach, headache, and general malaise. My eating has been a little off kilter. Still low carb, though. I gained 4 pounds which I know is just water weight-probably from the shot.

My son has had a terrible stomach bug for two days. I thought we might need to take him to the hospital at one point last night. He seems to be doing better today. Not great, but better. Poor little guy.

When I went to get my Tetanus shot, the nurse just went on and on about how different I looked. It was almost embarrassing. (Your picture is posted on your electronic file.) She asked if I dyed my hair? Did I always wear make-up? Etc. etc. I finally asked if I looked better different or worse different because she kept talking about it so much, I couldn't tell. LOL I figured they snapped the picture when I was really, really sick...you know that look--stringey hair, sunken eyes, no make-up. Anything would be an improvement. LOL

UUUUgggggghhhhhhh!!!!

I feel so fat today. I even said something to my dh and he said that it looked like I had gained some weight. (Don't bash him-he was being honest and said it in a gentle way.)

The scale says about 3 lbs. up. The tetanus shot really threw me for a loop, I think. No, it's not TOM or PMS.

I'm also not taking care of myself at all....I'm eating low carb, but not enough.

Yesterday:

8 (yes, 8) cups of coffee with real cream.
1/2 c. blueberries

melted cheese with black olives

2 cups green beans with olive oil

1/2 c. blueberries

I don't know what I expect from my body when I'm not treating it kindly.

Today:
4 cups coffee w/ cream
1/2 c. blueberries and it's 4 o'clock.

I have some green beans in the oven.

I'm going to go have a big glass of water and try to start over.

Big sigh!

Hey Elizabeth -- You are retaining water ... your body is worried that there might be a drought going on and is holding on to whatever it can get .. You need to eat more and drink more and give it the signal that all is good.

I am really sorry to hear about the rusty nail and the shot. I hope you are feeling better!!!

Thanks, Pauline!

Well, I continued to further mistreat my body this weekend. I had many sleepless nights due to some drama amongst a group of my friends...

I went to many graduation parties this weekend....drank little water, barely ate any food, what I did eat was barely low carb. I don't feel that I've "cheated" or gone off plan, just made incredibly bad choices from the LC options.

The scale said 190 this morning.

So, my game plan for the next 10 days....super clean eating...

What I mean by this:

1) Drink lots of water.
2)Eat only induction type foods...no low carb pitas, no bars, etc. I'm going to try to go without my beloved blueberries for a few days. While I don't think that blueberries are necessarily the culprit, I think I am eating more of them than I should.
3) Find protein sources other than cheese.

So far today:

I had scrambled eggs for breakfast.
I had turkey and a huge plate of cut up vegetables for lunch.
I have chicken boiling for chicken salad.
I went to the grocery store and stocked up on frozen and fresh vegetables and various protein sources.

I think I am on the right track because I have a headache. LOL

I am not stressing out about the amount I am eating. I am eating as much as it takes to feel satisfied. I am not feeling "bingey" at all and I don't want to do anything to set off a binge.

I am going to stay away from the scale because it doesn't really matter what it says because I need to eat "clean" for a few days.

Three days of clean eating and lots of water and I am happy to say I am back to 184!

I have to say that I was feeling desperate and didn't really think it would work and if it did work that it wouldn't work that fast! I told my husband that I felt gypped! It's disappointing to be up that many pounds and to not have eaten carb laden food. LOL It would not have been worth it, but still, who wants to gain six pounds by starving?

There were a few moments in the last weekend where I really felt like just saying what the heck and chucking it all for some graduation cake. By the grace of God, I didn't. Somehow, I realized that even if I didn't lose one more pound, I was so much better off than if I started that binge, binge, binge cycle again.

Thank you all for your support. It means so much to me.

Food:

Eggs w/ onions for breakfast every morning.
Lots of chicken salad.
Chicken w/ broth.
Roasted green beans w/ coconut oil added.
Fresh veggies w/ dip.
No blueberries. I know that I can eat blueberries....they don't make me binge, but I was eating them too often instead of eating a good protein/fat combination. I'll probably add them back in after a couple of weeks.

Back to repetition which really seems to work for me.

Way to go Elizabeth!!!!!!I have come to the same conclusion - I am in a position where I ate badly last week and am currently not weighing .. just doing the right thing ... and I am coming to the conclusion that ANYTHING is better than bingeing ... ANYTHING!!!!

Keep up the great work and do not stress on the blueberries, maybe instead of ruling them out altogether, just allow yourself a portion controlled amount per day when you do decide to add thm back in.

Yay us!!!

Okay, I'm doing what most people do (I think)....wondering if I look like I've lost....still feeling like I'm at my starting weight.....head not catching up with the body.....etc. etc.

Our home school group had it's end of the year project fair on Thursday night. Here is a picture that my oldest daughter took of me. I'm a size 16 now.

Before/after comparison:

229 pounds........

183 pounds.......

I think I'm finally starting to get that! As awful as the feeling is, I never want to forget what it feels like to binge. I want to keep it and wield it like a sword instead of being overcome by it.

I'm not really stressing. I just saw that I was eating blueberries EVERY time I was hungry instead of looking for other choices. I think I need to take a break so that I can see that I have power over them, KWIM? Portion controlled amounts is a very good idea. Thanks for the advice. The measuring cup can be a very dear friend.
