Monet,
The "tapping" is something that Paul McKenna is teaching on his show "I Can Make You Thin" on TLC. TaDa! (Pauline) goes to it in depth at her journal. I've been watching the show and it's interesting. |

Today is April Fool's Day!
I never did anything to "celebrate" the day with my oldest daughter, but two or three years ago, Family Fun Magazine had this trick you could play on your kids. You formed orange and green Starburst candies into peas and carrots. They were very realistic. We served them to our then five year olds (?) and insisted that they eat all their vegetables. The looks on their faces at having to eat cooked peas and carrots were priceless! After much coaxing, my son finally tried one and then the gig was up. Lots of laughter ensued. Now April Fool's is a big day in my youngest children's eyes. They even count down to it....planning what they will do for weeks. So far today, my son burst into our room earlier than normal to "roar" us awake thinking that he would scare us. I sat bolt upright in bed. LOL "Wha? That's not even funny. Oh, wait, it's April Fool's. Very good. Go back to bed." My coffee pot was hidden in a bedroom closet. My husband's guitar has "gone missing." I think my oldest daughter's lap top is also hiding. I served my kids "fried quail eggs" for breakfast. Actually they were gummy fried eggs. Nothing quite like them, I'm sure. ![]() ![]() Happy April Fool's Day!!!!

![]() It's so nice to have people who are excited for me. I would be mortified to talk specific numbers to anyone in real life.![]() As soon as I'm done with this big sewing project (play costumes), I will be out in my garden and then I know the weight will move some more. Can you say "shovel?" |

Happy May 2!
I'm back!!!!!!!!!! My daughter is recovering nicely. If you want your whole event calendar to stop, just have one of your kids get mono. LOL She still gets tired out very easily and we have to watch any rough and tumble activities for another week or so. Ever tried to keep two seven year olds from wrestling, jumping off swings, and riding bikes? ![]() I've been eating on plan. It really is a habit now. I don't even really have to plan that much now. I am aware, however, that binge eating lurks beneath the surface and so I am very diligent to not pop something into my mouth that will awaken the "monster." I also passed my 10 month on plan anniversary. Yeah me! My weight is fluctuating between 184-186. I think it's just trying to get used to the idea of weighing less. I know that once I start walking more and really doing the heavy duty gardening, it will start moving again. I also have not been getting enough sleep. I know that you need adequate sleep for your body to give up pounds, so I am trying to adjust that. I leave you with some daffodils from my garden: ![]() ![]() Last edited by GardenGirl639; 05-02-2008 at 10:03 AM.. |

Missed you Elizabeth!!!!! Glad to see you back!!! Gosh, I cannot imagine dealing with mono in a 7 year old!!!!
![]() Could it be that 185 is a plateau weight for you? I can spend a month going up and down over those thresh holds - for me that is at about 140 and at about 160 without fail and it can often take an entire month of eating on plan before my body is willing to stop the bouncy-bounce and just get on with it ... |

Yes, I think it probably is a plateau weight for me. It's a little frustrating, because I seem to plateau every 5 lbs. I'm trying to look on the bright side: because my journey is taking longer, I seem to be learning better. I'm not sure that I would know so much about my body if the weight had come off super fast. This way, I'm really listening to my body. It's also made the scale a non-issue. It barely changes, so why even bother. LOL
Have you ever tried the Schwarzbein Principle? It looks intriguing because the author is an endocrinologist and I have big endocrine issues with hypo thyroid and PCOS. She also has a vegetarian plan which looks appealing. All three of her books are waiting for me at the library right now. |

Weekend went well. I've been allowing myself some "off-plan" treats about once a week.
![]() ![]() It's only in a VERY controlled environment, never at my own home! Some may say this is a slippery slope, but it's been working for about 5 weeks. (May be why I'm still hovering around 185 ) My husband and I go out once a week to the Japanese restaurant and I order sushi. I know I can get it with just cucumber, but I'm making this choice to eat regular sushi. I only eat the sushi--no dessert. It does not cause me cravings. It does not make me feel like bingeing. It does not make me want sugar. It does not make my stomach upset. In fact, I notice very little reaction to it. I feel incredible that I can go to a restaurant, order, eat, and leave just like a "typical" person. Saturday, I even wore a dress that I bought last fall that was too small. It fits beautifully now! I felt like a million bucks Last edited by GardenGirl639; 05-05-2008 at 08:23 AM.. |

Thanks, guys
![]() ![]() My mom is home...on oxygen. Hope she gets better soon. My aunt had a stroke. My youngest daughter broke out in hives the past two days and the doctor thinks it may be food allergies. No known allergies up to this point, so We are doing the food-elimination-and-then-adding-back-in-slowly-thing. Ought to be fun.![]() Have almost all the costumes finished. Dress rehearsal is Tuesday. I'll post some photos when I can. Haven't checked my weight again. My stress level is pretty high. Hope I can relax a little this weekend. Last Mother's Day weekend was when I dropped that giant rock on my leg. Have a really nice scar to show for it. LOL My husband and kids are planning some type of secret excursion tomorrow. Of course, I am not allowed to go. ![]() |

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Being a mother is the highest calling of my life! There are hard days along the way, but I can't think of anything I'd rather do. I can't believe how fast the time went! My oldest will be 18 soon! My family has been treating me like a queen all weekend. My kids and husband made me a mosaic stepping stone for my garden. My husband also bought me a new sewing machine. They took me out to my favorite restaurant for dinner. Love that sushi ![]() My mom is starting to feel better. I'm so thankful. Off to do some sewing. |
