Desert's Thorn

Well since this must be were the cool kids play, I thought I would start my own journal.
My name is Lynne and I am retired. Actually I retired Dec 4, 2005 and its been a blast. DH and I bought an RV with is mostly collecting dust, but we do get on the road occasionally and next year vowed it would be more often.

I am doing Atkins, the 2002 version and have been since March of 03. my largest I was 270, but lost 50 and have gained back 10. So, 6 days ago, encouraged by my friends here, I became recommitted and I'm down 3. I have a hard time losing weight cause I take atenolog which Dr A talks about unfavorably in his book. But slow wins the race.

I don't do well with long term goals, cause I really need to lose another 50, but I'll reach for 20 and then see what happens, and then 20 more.
I do exercise. I do water arobics 3 times a week for an hour and I hike in the woods once a week for at least 2 sometimes 3 miles. I volunteer at our local military hospital and thats a joy to my heart. Actually I take care of the volunteer program and my lovely volunteers take care of our troops.

I know many of you and hope to make more friends here.

Way to go on the weight you've already lost! And God Bless you, girl for all you're doing for the troops! You are such a bright light!

I love that you get to RV, and share your experiences. We have an RV now and we plan to travel some more this winter (where there isn't snow).

I think what you do for exercise sounds extremely varied and fun! Being in the outdoors is one of the most wonderful things about the northwest; and if you don't live in Tacoma, the smells are beautiful! I love the woods, especially!

It is REALLY wonderful to see you here! You have always been such an inspiration to me and to so many others, and I value your friendship more than can be said. You simply are pretty wunnerful.

Thanks for the great welcome Guys.
Well Cleo, I'm up a pound this morning....Damn its so frustrating, but also, you know that induction problem that everyone complains about with a little nervous giggle, well, I have been cheat free for 6 or 7 days and constipated just as long. So maybe a little fiber is in order. (You didn't want to hear all that did you.)
The dentist just called, I'm getting an overhaul and wants me to come in today rather than monday, so I have to jump out of her and into a shower.
Because of all of you, this place feels like home.

Hey I know you! I'm so glad some of the most knowledgable people have joined us. You're a great supporter.
And thanks A LOT for supporting our troops. My DH is active duty Air Force. He just came home in September. What you are doing is so incredible, it just can't be put into words. Volunteers like you are a HUGE asset to our military!
Seems you are an asset everywhere you go!
I know you will start losing again.

Well, the dentist did me in, but I am done now until next month when I only need to go in for a cleaning.
Did I tell you I was up a pound this morning. Grrrr. I am going to Portland tomorrow, its about a 3 hour drive and they are calling for showers which is better than calling for rain like today. It is pouring down.
I have a friend in Portland and we get together about 4 times a year but everytime we go his way, its raining. Maybe it always rains in Portland. He wants to take us out for Chinese food. What can I eat at a chinese restaruant. Please, I am picturing lots of sweet and sour, gravy and cornstarch, breading and coatings. The only thing I can think of is that barbequed pork...the red color kinda scares me. Oh well, Ill find something.
He loves clam chowder so I went to Ivars and got him a tankers worth, and then since there is a Mexican market next door, I went and got him some pan dulce, (sweet breads)
Taking the computer with me so I can check in tomorrow night. But you all behave yourself, LOL, we might run out of boards

Hey I'm really glad I came here too, I've been talking to 2Big through Yahoo and she's been helping me with questions I still have. There are a lot of people who, well to say it nicely aren't too fond of me and don't want me back which is fine because I love it over here! My feelings are still hurt because I thought I was doing a good job so far these past seven months and the comments that were made totally made me think differently. I really feel as if I haven't accomplished anything and haven't done Atkin's properly. After everything happened I went on a 4 day eating binge and ate everything from my kids Halloween candy, a box of Cheez-its and everything else I could get my hands on, it was pretty bad but I'm totally over it now and am back on track.

Where in Mich were you offered a job? I wouldn't blame you for not taking it, the snow is crazy from December on, although for November we have had some really nice weather this past week, it was up in the high sixties and that's unusual for Mich. I would so love to live somewhere that stays warm all year round. When my kids get older and are on their own I'd really love to just pack up and move to Hawaii

Hey Kim. You did a great job over those 7 months and lost a lot of weight. Don't let anyone tell you anything different.

Kim. I agree. Don't let people get you down. You're where no one can touch you now. You hear? You're in a safe place.

Im glad you picked back up and got your groove back. They arent worth you losing all the progress you made over these months. Gotta take comments like that from where they came from.

And its the comments from your friends here that really matter. You are doing great!

Hey, How are you today? So what do retired people do on the weekends? I think Desert Thorn can do better than Fabio. He would fight her for mirror time.

Lynne! It's so great to see another familiar face, here, at LCF! I'm sure it's no great mystery which Chris in Va I am. Looks like you and I have just about the same weight to lose. Since I, too, seem to be a very slow loser, let's see how well we each do.

I'm still waiting on that visit when you get to the DC area. I can hardly wait to finally meet one of my favorite people in the world. (A true statement -- isn't it funny how things change?!)

Best wishes, dear lady!
