Well, this is my little corner of the low-carb world and I'm so excited to share my life with so many of the great people on this board! I'm trying to shed 8.5 more pounds and it is soooo slow going, but I know I'll get there one day. I've never really had a problem with weight, but after seeing a picture of me this past summer, I realized that 20 extra pounds had magically appeared over night!

So, skeptically, I quit all rice, potatoes, bread, cereal, white flour and sugar. I wasn't quite sure I could do it, but here I am, 3-1/2 months in and I haven't had any of it - not one bite - and I really don't want it. I'm surprised because that's all I ever used to eat! Potato chips were a good friend!

I ate cereal every morning for breakfast and sandwiches were a staple at lunch. I thought I'd starve, but it's just the opposite ~ I'm usually not even hungry!!

YAY!!!!!! I really can do this - I AM doing this! Off to read the boards!

Tommy'swife, I know so many people here can relate that weight goes on so fast and comes off sooooo slow! I've learned to take it one day at a time and celebrate every 0.5 pound that I lose, even if it takes a whole darn month to lose it!!

It's nice to meet both of you! I'm gonna go look for your journals so I can get to know you, too!

My pants are falling off of me. A good thing, really, just not when it's in public!

I'm feeling a bit down today. A lot is weighing heavy on my heart. It's a new feeling and not a very comfortable one. Usually I'm pretty "up". I'm a bit overwhelmed with life these days and I'm not quite sure how to balance everything.....work, house, kids, bills, groceries, laundry, homework, finances, friends, relationships......usually only one or two need my attention, but these days it seems like every single one is screaming for help and there's not enough of me to go around.

Hopefully with a little time, the sun will shine again.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling down. I know that overwhelmed feeling. Hopefully you'll be back up and shining soon. If you need to vent...go right ahead.

Awwww....thank you Bilowi!! I needed that comfort today! Sometimes you just need a place to vent and even though I started my post this morning with the intent of being "perky", my fingers flew across this keyboard with a mind of their own and before I knew it, my feelings were down on the screen and I had hit the "submit" button. It's so nice to know there are such friendly people here to pick me up when I need it!! Thank you!!

And a big "congrats" to you on your engagement!! HOW EXCITING! I actually had a dream that I got married last night and I was in the most gorgeous wedding gown and was sooooooo happy in my dream. The only problem was that I thought it was too short on me! Haha!! I've been married for 17 happy years, so I don't think it's a sign of things to come for me!

Speaking of dreams: I had a dream about making chili rellenos the other night. But when I tried to make them there were no more peppers. I wonder what that one could mean.

Anytime you need to vent just let her rip, everyone has bad days and sometimes it feels so good to get it out. My day is just sailing along.

I actually got married on Friday 10/27, we're just not honeymooning until December. Before the wedding I had weird dreams...one of them being that I was in some kind of Tim Burton wedding.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Sjl!!!! I've been having REALLY strange dreams - and not just about the wedding dress, either. I had a dream that my daughter (11 years old) was 2 again and wanted to change her own diaper and at the same time, my little Westie was chasing the next door cat around our house, and in the other room, people were exercising.

I don't know about you, but I go through the peppers/lettuce/cauliflower so fast around here, I'm always running out of stuff! Now your dream has made me hungry!!!

BTW...your pooch is too adoreable!!!!!! I just want to smooch him (her?)!!!

Aren't dreams SO funny? Do you ever have recurrent dreams? My twin sister and I both have the same dream over and over that a plane is crashing in the backyard of the home we grew up in.

We can't figure it out. I had another plane crash dream night before last, but this time it crashed into another house. Someone once told me that means I feel like something in my life is out of control. Hmm...given the way I felt in my first post today, that would definitely make sense!

I was on the "dark side" yesterday watching what was happening. Today I plan to stay here all day and dig around to see what I can find. I'm going to see if there is an exercise challenge that is for video nuts and then look up the PCOS thread again.

What is on your agenda today? Anything exciting?

YAY!!! I'm so glad my friends are here!!! I love friendly people. They're just so FRIENDLY. Life is too short not to be friendly, IMHO.

Okay....enough of that. Now I have to say something mean so I don't make myself sick. Um.....hm. Let me get back to that.....

I'm hoping to be finished with work by at least 1 today so that I can spend some time getting to know the board a bit better. I want to shop for some low carb stuff at the Netrition store and explore a few of the other forums. I MUST finish work before I do that, though, because for the last 3 days, I've been putting work before play and falling short on my numbers. My paycheck is gonna be puny if I don't kick it into high gear!!!

I wish this weather would make up its mind on what to do! Tuesday it was 81 and beautiful. Yesterday I woke up to rain and cold, but it cleared in the afternoon and got to 75, I think. Now I see that we'll barely get to 63. (I'm ducking because I know those of you back east are throwing things at me and you'd kill for a 75 degree day ~ for that matter, even a 63 degree day). I either want 85 and sunny or a big lightning/thunderstorm ~ none of this in between stuff!!

Time to grab a cup of Chocolate Velvet coffee and hit the keyboard. I just got my nails done and they look gorgeous (if I do say so myself

) but they're just wreaking havoc with my typing.

It's adding oodles of time to my work day because they're so long and I'm hitting all of the wrong keys, but they're like shoes ~ if they're cute, you deal with the pain!!
