MintQ8's Journal

I've been meaning to start this journal for sometime - but often have a problem with 'round tuits'

This is my umpteenth time doing Atkins - but for some reason - this time I am sticking to the plan.

Back in July of this year all my clothes were getting a bit tight (even my good old faithfuls) and as I was wandering around the supermarket one Monday evening, I just thought to myself, 'that's enough - do it and do it right'. I bought lots of good things for induction and started that very evening - I don't even wait for the morning.

So 3 1/2 months down the line I am still on plan - I have lost 30lbs - the best I've done since I first tried Atkins (as an adult). I have dropped a couple of dress sizes and am feeling better than I have felt in a long time.

This is particularly good as in 12 days I am being the 'Matron of Honour' at my sister's wedding. I found a dress when I got back to the UK (oh yeah, I'm a Brit but I live in Australia) and it was a little tight on me - in 2 1/2 weeks I've managed to slim into the smaller size!! Will be taking the bigger one back to the shop tomorrow.

This should be a very special wedding, as my sister has Downe's Syndrome - she and her fiance (who was oxygen starved at birth) have been together for around 4 years and moved into their own flat in February this year. They are marrying on her 40th Birthday - couldn't stay in Australia and miss this event now could I?

Foodwise I try and eat Atkins 72 style Induction for the most part - but at the moment am on a Meat and Egg fast (did K/E a week or so ago - but a little tough for me to continue at the moment).

I am lucky in that whilst I am on holiday - my mum is an Atkins Maintainer (although she has just lost 10lbs that she had gained over the last couple of years) - so she really helps me with staying on the straight and narrow - though I have to say - too many of her friends keep inviting us round for drinks - and I end up having a wine - am managing to say no 1/2 the time but have had more wine than I ought to over the last few weeks.

My sister is also on Atkins - she is doing so well - she needed to lose a few lbs to get into her dress and is following the plan so well - she is talking of continuing it after her wedding.

Anyway - whilst I'm on holiday, this might be a bit sporadic but when I have my own computer you will all probably get sick of me!

Today is the sort of day that I used to want to binge - it's cold, wet and lots of rain - we're indoors - when we should be heading to the shops!!!

For breakfast today I had scrambled eggs and 2 slices of canadian bacon. Just remembered I have to have my psyllium husks etc for today!

Didn't go to the gym today - but did go yesterday - first time in forever - when I get back to Australia I'm going to aim to go 3 x a week.

Anyway - I'll be back later - bye for now.

Hi Vicky!!! Glad you decided to try out the journaling!!! I know exactly what you mean about the cold/rainy day and comfort foods!!! I made so of the infamous Southwest Taco Soup from Linda Sue's site and it is FABULOUS!!! It has definitely made it's way into my COMFORT FOODS list and will be my version of chili come the winter months!!!

I'm glad you're enjoying your holiday and time with family. That's fantastic!!! We're all thinking about you and wishing you the best!!!

Mel - the soup sounds so good - but I don't dare make anything that has 'portions' - don't trust myself not to eat more than my fair share!

Had a lovely goats cheese and mint omelette for lunch, with some chicken wings - and a few shrimp (strange combo - but the chicken and omelette were great - shrimp weren't the 'chili prawns' that were on the menu).

Tonight is due to be Roast Beef - but we have been invited over to the neighbours for Paella - not sure what we're going to do about that!!

Yesterday evening I had a lovely meal out - it turns out it wasn't Paella at someone's house - it was at a Restaurant. I had the most wonderful steak. However, I did order the squid for starters - and then discovered that 3oz if Squid is 6.6grams of Carbs!!!!!

Today I have been much better foodwise - not that it was a bad day yesterday - I suppose.

Dipped Cheese crisps in Boiled eggs for breakfast - had some chicken for lunch and some delicious roast beef for dinner.

Had my hair cut today - I'm really pleased with it - as the hairdresser really listened to what I want and I left with hair that almost looks as though I've done it myself.

Okay - off to see what everyone else is doing!
