Here's to lookin' HOT in a bathing suit

So.. here I go at trying this out. Here's the low down...
My best friend Shannon called me and said she was going on a cruise in Sept 2007. My husband and I were just on a cruise in May of this year for our honeymoon. Shannon and her hubby just got back from their cruise in Sept.
So when she emailed me around the end of September and said that she had impulsively booked another cruise for Sept 2007, well I had to jump on board. How FUN would that be to go on a cruise with another couple that you adore? Anyway. So I told this to my husband and he said I was ridiculous for even thinking about it - can't afford it, nyah nyah. So I said - "What if I make it to 199 by March 1st - can we go then?" Now he knows how many times I've tried to lose weight so he smiled and said ok. I sat down and had a serious talk with him about it and told him how this weight loss thing was FINALLY going to happen for me this time - he knew I meant busniess. So the next topic was money. I said "Honey, if we both quit smoking, that will save at least 100 dollars a month. In 12 months, we will have enough for the cruise." SO - YAY! We're SOOOO going cause I'm gonna kick my fat bum in gear! lol... Anywho...

I started on Monday so this is now day 4 of Induction, and I think I will be in this phase for quite a while - and I don't mind a BIT! Today though, I've been feeling a bit down. I realized that the fat burners I have been on for about 5 months now are loaded in caffene so I had to give them up - and I am coming down off that hard. Major headache since 1pm today. Hopefully it will go away soon - and no, tylenol didn't work Sunday night when I weighed myself I was 239. I am now 235 in the AM - but I swear if I wasn't so constipated, I would be down a few more pounds! I AM taking psyllium (sp?) husks - I took 5 today in the am, 4 at 2pm and 1 at 7pm. I'm just so scared of getting the "poopsies" while I'm at college (from 8am to noon) so I don't know how I'm going to get around that. Maybe I'll just up the dosage on Saturdays and Sundays when I don't have to go anywhere!

Well now.. on with the eats for today.

b - 2 eggs, 4 bacon
L - hamburger patty with a bit of cheddar cheese on it and some mayo, small salad and 2 T of Ranch dressing
S - well.. I'm freaking out about this. Around 5pm I got a bit .. I didn't throw up or anything.. just that feeling... anyway.. so I haven't been able to eat supper today. I had a piece of cheese a little while ago - about 30 grams.. and that is tiding my hunger over until I go to bed. I almost caved and had a few saltines.. eeeeeeeeeeek! but I didn't YAY!

And water for today - I've had at least 100 ounces.

Problem is though - I'm getting a bit bored with the menu variety already so I'm going to go and check out some recipes

I'll be back tomorrow! Night night!

Well I didn't really have time to write in here yesterday, so here goes.
I woke up and weighed myself - 233.4 OMG I haven't seen that weight in ... well... years! So I was pumped from the get go! I still had a bit of my headache and was actually happy that I had the chills I went to school in the am - walked up the three flights of stairs - yay me - then after I was done school I walked to my hubby's work to get the car - I'm not sure how far of a walk it is, but it usually takes me around 20 minutes to walk there. Then my best friend, Shannon, and her hubby came over - we had supper - Shannon was amazed that I was just having steak and then we went Bowling - WOOOO! I rocked! I got a 90 and then a 89 - nothing like being consistent! Of course the other three were poor losers, only bowling like a 48 or something.. LOL I can't help it if I'm good! hehe. THEN we came back to my house and we watched a movie - ALMOST gave in and ordered take out of some kind - I think they were going to get Domino's pizza - and let me tell you, if it was put in front of me - I was SOOOO going to eat it! So for some reason, the pizza was never ordered and then Shannon and Mark went home and then I went to bed - so 5 days now without cheating ONCE - I can't believe it! I've never ever done that before on any other diet. Wow.
Anyway - so here is what I ate:

B - 3 scrambled XL eggs in bacon fat (2.4 carbs)
4 bacon

L - 30/40g of cheese (not sure of the exact amount but it was no more than 2 carbs)
4 slices sandwich ham (4 carbs)
6 slices pepperoni (4 carbs)

S - a big steak on the BBQ - must've been at least a 10 or 12 oz steak - it was yummy!!

And PLUS I started the CLA/GLA yesterday around 5pm so we'll see how that's working. Wait. I'll take my measurements now.. hold on.

chest: 46
underneath breasts: 42
waist: 40.5
at bellybutton: 45.5
hips: 46
leg: 27.5
arm: 15.5

My measurements from January 07:
Jan 25th
Chest – 47.5
Waist – 43.5
Hips – 47.5
Arms – 15.5

YAY! Alright well... I'll write later to let yas know how I made out today!

Thanks Indy!! And Hello!

Well today has been pretty good I guess. I'm getting sick of the food already but I'm going to go look at some recipes to get me out of my funk. I woke up and weighed myself - 231!! YAY! AND this is my TOM .. still haven't had a good BM so maybe I'm actually lower? Either way - I'm super proud of myself.
For anyone that is following along, DH and I booked our cruise today!!! He was so impressed and could tell that I was dedicated to this and said "I love you no matter what you weigh and you don't need to loose xxx amount of weight to earn this cruise - you are doing fabulous so far and I know you will keep with it" Awwwww such a sweetie! So.. cruise is booked BUT I'm not going to let that allow me to slack off - I vow to feel comfortable in a bathing suit!!!!!! I want to say I would love to be in the single digits size - at least an 8, but I think that may be pushing it - who knows.. I have a very large frame and I carry my weight well so maybe at 180, I WOULD be in a size 8? Any thoughts on that anyone? I'm an 18 now at 231.... anywho... we shall see!
So today I ate:

B - 3 XL eggs, 3 slices processed cheese - made it into an omelete - I must say I am getting a bit sick of eggs, which suprises me 'cause I thought I loved eggs! LOL (8.4 carbs)

L - 3 pan fried hot dogs dipped in mayo (6 carbs)

S - 7 chicken wings/drumsticks (small ones) and 1/4c Stove Top (7.8 carbs)

So I went over by 2.2 - BUT I didn't eat all of my omelete, and I didn't eat all three hotdogs so maybe it will equal out - hehe. I shouldn't have had stove top, I know, but grocery day is tomorrow and it was either that or nothing so.... stove top it is!

Well I'm off to look at cruise stuff - hehehe I'm so excited!!!!
xoxo

Just thought I'd stop by and say hi since you stopped by my journal. You're doing great so far! If you stick with it, you'll no doubt be at your final goal by next September. You'll be totally smokin' on that cruise! You mentioned that we're about the same size and I can honestly say that I don't think I'll EVER be in a single digit size simply because I'm tall and my bones are...broad? Does that make sense? Right now, I'm at 169 and I can wear a couple 12's and most of my 14's are pretty loose. I will be at goal by Christmas though so I'll keep you updated.

As for recipes, you should definitely check out Linda Sue's recipes, if you haven't already. I recommend: meatloaf, baked meatballs, enchillada chicken and my ultimate favorite- cauliflower bisque. Mmmm... I've heard very few bad things about her recipes.

Keep up the good work!

You are doing wonderfully so far! Keep posting in your journal ...I think it helps to keep me accountable that I post in mine...and I have gained some friends who cheer me on and lift me up when I'm feeling like throwing in the towel!

I think the Stovetop may have thrown you out of Keotosis....It has flour in it...so try to stay away from it in the future and eat clean and you'll keep seeing those numbers drop. Just a suggestion...

I, too, am going to go on a cruise, but haven't booked it yet. I told my dh that when I get down to 150 pounds I am buying a bikini and booking a cruise somewhere warm. He said to go for it! I've never been on one and I think it is about time...but I want to look hot, ya know?
Where are you all going? Any cruise destination advice?

Oh.. and I am 5'4 " and weigh about 168-169 pounds and am in some pretty loose 14's and some size 12's. --Hope that helps.

Thanks girls for posting!!

Bonnie - I was thinking that being in the single digits was high hopes too - everything is spread out so evenly because of my height that if I was a size 12 - I would probably look like I was a size 8 to someone else... maybe - who knows I'll just keep on truckin' until I look good I will check out those recipes - I know you love your cauliflower bisque - I keep reading about it - I don't know if I would like it though - I hate cauliflower - but I will look at the recipe for it - I promise!!!!

Yoyogirl - Yeah I was thinking about the stovetop thing being right bad for me - but you know what? I don't think I have been in Ketosis yet.. I decided not to waste the money on the strips since they are not accurate - and I haven't had bad breath or anything... but maybe that is because I am drinking around 100 ozs of water a day? I did have a few days of feeling sick to my stomach and chills... today I feel great though!!

So the cruise - well we are going on a 7 day Western Caribbean (spelling?) We'll be going to Grand Cayman, Roatan Island, Belize City, and Costa Maya (Majahual). My husband and I went on a East Caribbean 5 day cruise in May for our honeymoon and went to Grand Cayman and Jamaica. Grand Cayman - that was fabulous there. I would live there - well maybe My advice is if you want to go somewhere warm - go on a cruise to the caribbean - so beautiful!! And plus you get to show off your hot bod in your bikini!

So today.. I know it's only 11am but I might as well just say something about my day so far. My son woke me up at 7:20am - well actually hubby woke me up and said "Brayden's up" LOL. So I went out and made us breakfast - we had an omelete. Yummy. then I did some cleaning - wanted to try on his winter clothes to make sure it all fit - it did! Yay! Money saver! LOL And then I went through his closet and cleaned out the stuff he doesn't wear anymore. I always feel good when I'm cleaning. I don't know why. It's kind of theraputic (spelling?)
So when I weighed myself this morning, I was 231.2 no worries. I did it to myself with that darned stove top. I learned my lesson. BUT this is day three of CLA/GLA and I FINALLY had a worth while BM! YAY! Mommy went potty! LOL
Well I'm going to go eat some lunch.. think I will have some cheese and ham slices dipped in a bit of mustard and mayo. Then I will put the clothes away.. then shower.. then groceries time! WOO HOO!

Have a good day! I'll be back later!
xoxo

I'm thinking if you hate cauliflower you should probably not even try the cauliflower bisque. I've heard that the Taco Soup is good too. And just look at it! It looks fabulous! I think it's on my list to try next.

Your cruise sounds amazing! Will you get to get off and visit those places and do cool things like snorkeling, etc? That would be my favorite part! I'd like to go on a cruise some day but I have a list of other places that I want to visit first.

So, have you recovered from the Stove Top yet? Here's hoping you're having great weight loss now!

Hi all - well today was our Turkey day. I did SO flippin' good - I don't really enjoy Thanksgiving meal unless I have a wicked stuffing to go with it. I usually would have 3/4 of my plate filled with stuffing smothered in butter (mom makes great stuffing- a big roasting pan FULL!) and just 2-3 pieces of turkey. Well today I had a whole half a plate full of dark turkey meat. I had a small scoop of potatoes and dressing for my son, but he didn't eat it and neither did I!!! YAY ME!! I weighed myself this morning.... 228!! OH MAN I haven't seen the 220's in forever - where have you been all my life! LOL I musta just sailed right past 210 thru to 220 and stopped at 230 without even noticing one day - LOL. Eh. oh well. At least I am doing something about it.

So... Bonnie - I think I have recovered from the stove top And the cruise - we're not sure yet what we're going to do in the ports - one of them I think we may go to the zoo - or the monkey sanctuary... we will swim with the dolphins tho.. That will be fun!! I've already swam with the stingrays and held one and kissed it - so I can add this to my list! hehe

Taco soup, eh? I shall go take a looksie! Well I've had a long ole day - night night!

xoxo

Good for you for sticking to the plan even though you had all of those temptations around! I find mash potatoes and gravy made by my mom extremely hard to resist. If any had been anywhere near my plate, I don't know if I could have pushed it away...so good for you!!!!

So this morning when I woke up I weighed myself - expecting huge things. Nope. 230.8 Man. So that kind of bummed me out - ever since starting this diet, I feel like I am doing it wrong. Like, am I not allowed processed cheese? and what about cocktail sauce for my shrimp? or 1/2 tbsp ketchup for my hot dogs - oh and hot dogs - can I not have hot dogs?! BAH!!
Anyway - to cheer myself up, I thought I would measure myself. It's only day 8 but I thought what the hey.

So.... drumrole please!

chest - 46 (stayed the same - YIPPEE! LOL)
under breast: 41.5 (-0.5)
waist: 39.5 (-1.0)
bellybutton: 45.5 (same)
hips: 45 (-1.0)

So it's only 2.5 inches but I think it's flippin great! Now if I can just figure out what the heck I'm doing here with my eating, then that would be great! I think I'll go post a question in one of the other forums. Anywho - will try to write later.

Maggie

Thank you very much - I was very proud of myself
The thing that suprised me the most though was that it wasn't that difficult! I just kept imaging myself thinner! So... yay me!

Well today I am starting fresh.. again... not counting it as day one or anything.. this is still day 10 for me, but at least now I know I am doing it correctly! I didn't fall off the wagon or anything, I was just doing a few things wrong. That's what I get for being so gung ho and not reading the book and researching everything to the fullest first! Ah well. So yay.
Today I weighed in at 229.8 - so happy. I think the other day when I weighed in at 228 at mom's, it was b/c her scale is different. I'm not sure if I even WAS 228... her scales are whacky - anyway.. so...

Breakfast was: 2 eggs, 4 bacon
Lunch will be: pickles* (can I have pickles on induction? There is no sugar in it) and cheese
Supper will be: 200g ham steak and 1 c green beans and butter.

YUMMY! And I bought some crystalized drink stuff with no sugar in it so I will be trying that I think - I've been drinking JUST water every day now for the past 10 days and I'm up for a little change

well... back to class I guess.. I'm supposed to be typing, but my typing speed is 65 wpm and the minimum required to pass this class is 25.. so I'm slacking off

TTFN,
Maggie

Well I'll tell you what - something has made me finally start to lose this weight - whether it's the low carb eating, this website and everyone on it, or the cruise - something is working and I'm sticking with all three!!!
Thanks Mac!!

Well 5 days after eating that small portion of Stove Top and I think I'm still feeling the effects of it - could that be possible? Not much weight loss at all and I was expecting more! I was 239.8 yesterday AM.. today I was 239.2 - Sheesh! I seemed to be doing better when I ate more veggies. I intend on making sure my veggies are at least 12 of my daily carbs. It's hard to do though for me - besides salads veggies (lettuce, tomato, cucumber), I only like onions (loaded w carbs), green pepper, and mushrooms. Ugh I need to broaden my horizons.
Well take yesterday for instance... I ate:

breakfast: 2 eggs, 4 bacon
lunch: 15 jumbo shrimp
supper: 200 g ham steak, 1c green beans w/ 2 oz shredded cheese on top

I couldn't even eat all of the ham and didn't eat much of the green beans - it was nasty. So maybe my weight loss slowed yesterday b/c I didn't eat much? I drank at least 80oz of water........... BAH. I'm feeling like a failure - why can't I get the hang of this? I'm looking through NUMEROUS recipes and have found so many wonderful supper ideas.. but I'm getting so sick of eggs for breakfast and have no idea what to eat for lunch.

Todays meal will be as follows:

b: 2 eggs, 4 bacon
l: flakes of ham, mayo and 2 1/2 c cucumbers
s: 2c romain lettuce, 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese, 2 bacon, Renee's ceasar salad dressing (not made with sugar / zero carbs)

so... anyone see a problem with this menu? I have to start doing this right .. I'm getting very frustrated ... Maybe I'm putting too much thought into it..

Well time for a midterm now apparently so I'll be back later!!

Hey Maggie! Don't get discouraged, hun. If you lost better with more veggies, eat more veggies. Also, your menus look good but they're a little light on the calories. I put yesterday's menu into fitday and I got about 925 calories, 9 carbs and 3 fiber.

People on this forum will fight 'til the cows come home about whether there's such a thing as too low calories or if that's how you lose. It's my opinion (and my experience) that too low calories causes stalls. My body freaks out and holds onto every ounce that I give it.

Follow me through a little math, mmkay? Since you said we're about the same shape, I assume you're 5'9 (since I am) and I put your weight into my fitday info. I left the activity level at seated work some moving around. This is what it had to say...

Height: 5'9; Weight: 229.8

Basal: 1854
Lifestyle: 1205
Total calories per day: 3059 (I'm going to round down to 3000 for simplicity)

That's with NO exercise.

So, imagine you eat 1500 calories per day. You create a 1500 calorie deficit per day (3000 - 1500 = 1500). Per week, that's a 10,500 calorie deficit (1500 * 7 = 10500).

1 pound = 3500 calories

10500 calories per week/3500 calories per pound = 3 pounds per week!

I've found that if I keep my calories at a moderate level- usually 1200 - 2000, this math holds true. If my calories dip too low, the math goes out the window because my body rebels. That's just my opinion so ignore it if you want but I just thought I'd try to give you a little perspective.

Thanks Bonnie for the input - you put alot of effort into it and I appreciate it! So yesterday wasn't a typical meal for me though. I'm just getting strung out on ideas of what to eat. I was using Fitday only once in a while, but now I think I will use it everyday. Plan my meals out on that instead of on a little notepad. That way I can keep track of my calories too - but I was told that during induction I should only worry about staying on the "allowed foods" list and stay at or under 20 net carbs. So that's what I'm trying to do... but since yes, I've appeared to have stalled already, maybe it's time to start keeping track of the calories too then. So I should have around 1500 a day to loose (hopefully) 3 lbs a week? I think I can manage that! I may have to have a tbsp of oil or something to get the calories up... we shall see how it goes!!

Hey - thanks for visiting and thanks for the welcome to Gutter Girls - I DO love it there

So today I weighed in at 228.4 - yay! The scale moved more! WOOOOOOO!
hmm.. nothing much to report as of right now.. just getting ready to write a midterm for this stupid computer class... well I got 93 out of 100 on part 1 of my midterm.. now onto part 2...

I'll write more later...

Hope everyone is having a better day than I am!! Maybe it's just cause it's rainy out .. maybe that is why I am in a grumpy mood.. Rainy weather always does this to me.. ugh. I hate rain.

Well it's Sunday.. Wow. Time flies when you're having fun, eh? I have to keep reminding myself to get on here at least once a day to post my meal.. shoot. Well I will do that now before I forget!!

B - 2 eggs, 4 bacon
L - 1 cup sliced pepperoni stick, 8 cherry tomatoes, 1.5 T Ranch dressing
S - 1 c chicken thigh (w skin), 1 tsp seasoning salt (Linda Sue), 2 C romaine lettuce, 4 oz cheddar cheese, 3 T ceasar dressing, 4 bacon (chopped)

Water: aiming for 192 oz - already drank half that...

So hubby and I just got done taking some pictures. NOOOO not those kind of pictures hehe.. He has quite the belly on him as well and is getting self concious about it - especially since we're going on another cruise.. so he wants to finally do something about it. Well we took "before" pics. I'm glad that we did - but BOY do they look bad! And this is after losing almost 30 lbs - jeepers. Hate to think what I was looking like at 255lbs! Actually.. would've been nice to compare it.

I was telling myself that I would start working out on my bowflex again by Nov 1st - well I'm busting it out tomorrow. The utility room is all cleaned out now and I can get to it, so after I'm done writing in my journal, I'll go and do a chart to record my exercising and I'm all set to go for tomorrow! YAY! And I'm glad hubby is doing this with me too... but I'm sorry to say I don't have much faith in him that he will stick to it - we'll see I guess.

Also, I fit into my 1st pair of goal pants. I was a size 20 when I started this and the jeans I fit into are a 16W. I can fit into another pair of size 16's - but they're strechy. Oh well - the label still says size 16! LOL. SO I went out and bought a sundress that was on sale for 10 bucks.. I got it in a large, even at my goal weight, I'm still not sure if I will fit into it cause I'm pretty wide and have broad shoulders so we will see.

I hear ds crying up stairs so I should go....

night night!
