Silentkate's Journal

New motivation, new plan, new journal. I can't promise that this one will last any longer than the others but I'm going to try and keep it going. lol
I started Scarsdale last Monday. The first few days were difficult but the results on the scale made it worth it. In a week and one day I've gone from 209 to 198 I know my loss won't always be this fast but I'm still excited.
A big issue I had when I was on Atkins (which I still btw, I was just being to lax on it and after a year and a half stuck at 204 I needed something new) was portion control. I like that on Scarsdale I eat only 3 times a day. Though the first day or two was a little rough, I proved to myself that I can do it and I think this will help me learn healthier eating habits. I've already stopped my habit of going to the fridge for a snack when I'm bored, need a pick-me-up, or am watching TV or a movie. Instead if I do go to the fridge it's now to grab a diet soda and I don't even look at the food.
Originally I planned to try Scarsdale for two weeks but now I plan on sticking to it until goal. I feel that kick of motivation that I had when I started Atkins 3 years ago and I feel like this is it, that I'm finally going to get the rest of this weight off.
This journal will be for my menus, my progress, my setbacks, my goals, my thoughts and anything else I feel like adding in as I journey to goal.

At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. --Romans 5:6-8

Thanks Mandi!

Lunch
Ginger Soy Tuna and Mesquite Grilled Tuna with a side of honeydew melon sprinkled with Splenda.
Dinner
Chicken and cooked sliced tomatoes.

I was tempted not to record my food into fitday tonight because I was feeling lazy but I made myself do it. I'm glad I did. For some reason I thought my calories may be to high today(probably because it was the first time I tried that brand of tuna and wasn’t sure if it was higher or not), but it actually turns out that they're a little lower then they need to be.

I'm thinking about changing my goal to 150 and seeing how I feel when I get there. I think I'll look good at 150 and I don't want to get there and have it be my perfect weight and not be happy because I'm focused on the number 140.

Hey Katie!

I think you made a good decision to change your goal to 150... your face looks absolutely radiant in your avatar!!

Good luck on Scarsdale, some have done extremely well with it!

Thanks LosingIt.

Today I went back up to 198. It seems like whenever I hit a new loss I bounce back up the next day before settling down to it. lol So no worries I'll see what the scale says tomorrow.

Breakfast:
1 piece of fiber bread.

Lunch:
1 egg (ran out so I couldn't have 2), fat free cottage cheese, and fiber bread. I feel a little bit guilty because the bread was down to only the end pieces and they were really thin so I had both the end pieces and told myself it'd be the same as having one regular slice. They really were smaller but I'm going to record them into fitday as two pieces of bread and see about reducing my calories a little at dinner anyway.

Godsbeloved, Rachael's doing well. You can visit her journal here to see her progress:

I have to run because I have to leave the house in less than a minute for work but just wanted to update because I'm 196 today! I may have gotten down to 197 before but I know I've never been 196, not in years. So that's exciting.

194.5 today! I'm so excited. I was stuck in the 198-206 range for over a year so to be getting so close to the 180s is great.

Breakfast:
1 piece of fiber bread with spray butter and half a grapefruit.

You are doing so well! KUTGW!!!

I didn't realize that Diet Sprite was you sis, til just now!
Are you twins?

I admire you for sticking to Scarsdale...I'd like to try it...just don't know if I could get my act together food-wise. It is pretty specific.

Thanks! Yep Rachael and me are twins.
Scarsdale can be really hard and I don't know if I could have done it if I'd tried it a year ago. The results have made it worth it though. After being stalled for over a year it's so exciting to see the scale reach new lows. As for the food, it's kind of nice knowing exactly what you're going to have that day. I'm not so focused on what snack I'm going to have, and I'm not walking to the fridge to get a snack every hour or two.

195 this morning. I expected to bounce back up so a .5 pound gain isn't bad. Tonight I'm going out to eat with Rachael (aka diet sprite), my mom and my step dad at Lonestar. I'm sticking to Scarsdale and I'm going to order a steak, salad and broccoli (don't think they'll have brussle sprouts).

And now a rant.
I love my step dad but he's one of those people who try and make you happy and believe that the way to accomplish that is to convince you to go off your woe. He long ago gave up trying to get me to eat deserts or pasta/potatoes/rolls but now that I'm also eating low cal he's switched to trying to convince me that full fat blue cheese will be fine and goes on and on about how good it is at Lonestar. Instead of simply saying no I need to stop worrying about hurting his feelings and just tell him that it makes me uncomfortable when he does this and that he needs to stop. But I'm not sure I'll do that. lol I really hate hurting peoples feelings.
What is it with family and friends and their belief that cheating will make you happy? My grandmother is actually one of the worst for this. She bakes tons of pies and then offers me a piece. She's known I've been on lc for years and while I love her pies I'm quite happy with my lc cheesecake. When I say no instead of saying okay she kind of does a disapproving groan and frown like I'm injuring myself by not having that pie. I love her but I don't get this. I listen to her talk about how gorgeous my cousin Jill is but when I try and be healthy she disapproves? She does this even when she herself is on a diet and won't eat the pie. And she will never try my lc dishes. Back when I used to make high carb high fat dishes she would try them and say she loved them even if she didn't. But lc dishes she will not try. And it's not a fear of lc diets; she's tried Atkins herself before. I don't get it. I miss my sweet grandma, who is this cynical unsupportive person?
Okay, my rant about unsupportive or trying-to-be-supportive-but-in-the-wrong-way relatives is over.
