Musings of a Fat Guy

Got back from vacation on 9/24/06. Have eatin like a hog for the past two weeks. Pancakes every morning for breakfast, sandwiches, cookies, brownies, pasta, garlic bread..etc. etc. I have known for a couple of months that I needed to get back down to where I was during the summer of 05. I was at 197, that's less than I weighed during football in high school and college.

Stepped on the scale 9/25/06........246 lbs....WTH have I done to myself????
Don't I remember the compliments and praise of just a year ago?? The pride of being "checked out" again. How hard it was in the beginning to give up burgers and beer??? Start over again and this time,,,,,,,keep it off.

I said I wasn't gonna check the scales everyday, but I know I will anyway.

9/28/06......240 lbs..... I know it's just water, so Im not impressed. Have managed to get back on track with my diet, kinda like I never quit. Had a bad headache yesterday, but not sure that it's related. Day 4, no cheats, not even the desire too yet. Just gotta work on portion control now. Hard to go back to just a steak and a salad for dinner when your used to eating 2 helpings of whatever,, a couple of bisquits and a big glass of milk to wash it down.....

Have done well with the h2o though.... Over a 100 oz each day so far.

Spent some time in the hills last night. Put on about 5 miles or so in moderate terrain. Body is definetly going through some changes. Last night I was running a slight fever, this morning I cant get warm. Usually I get bound up on LC, yesterday was opposite.
5 days down, and still no cheats or even cravings. Still maintaining h2o intake at 100oz or more a day. Switched from diet DP to Diet Rite, but it sucks, so Im probably gonna go back. Scales say 237

Hope you feel better soon... sounds like you've caught a bug or something. Luckily I haven't had that problem while LCing. Although there is the Atkins flu that some people experience during the first two weeks (I never got it), but I don't know much about it. I've been LC'ing for 6 weeks and have dropped about 28#. I'm 5'10 started at 256 and am currently around 227. I got blocked up during the first few weeks, but I started taking a fiber supplament (Fibersure powder) which corrected the problem. You may already know this, but make sure you take a multi-vitamin. Vitamin defficiency can make you feel bad. I am addicted to diet coke... I tried diet rite but just couldn't get into it. Trying to stop the caffeine gave me bad headaches. The diet coke soesn't seem to be affecting my weight loss so I'm not going to worry about it. Anyway, make it through the first two weeks or so and it seems to get easier. Also, not sure if youre interested, but here is a link to a recipe website that I use that has a bunch of good LC recipes.

I've been exercising with a sledgehammer for about two weeks which rips me up (in a good way). Check out www.shovelglove.com and try that out for a different workout. Anyway, hope it starts working out better for ya.
