Godzilla Ate Tokyo - Momzilla Eats Low Carb!
Day One...
Well... here I go! Page one and Day one! Up until this point in my life, losing weight was something I wanted to do to 'feel better' and look better. Now it's more serious than that. My life actually depends on straightening myself out and getting healthy. For the first time in my life my blood work has come back and it has not been good. Glucose was 176! This was up from 146 about 6 months ago. I have 3 mos before I go back again to get it down - or at least headed in the right direction. She made me a deal and I intend to do what I promised. (I have the best Dr in the world... have been with her since 1989 so she knows me pretty darn well.) Atkins is the best way to do this. I know that carbs are poison to me and I need to limit how much go into my body. I know a lot of things - but why the heck can I not live them? I'm a fairly intelligent woman with a successful management career. So what's with this? I need to get control of my life. This journal is where I will track myself... and come when I am happy or come when I want to fold and throw in the towel. 'Journal instead of eating'!

Thanks for the welcome!
Was getting a little 'munchie hungry'.. wanting something that crunched. I've never been much of a raw veggie eater.. but this time I'm going to learn to like them and take advantage. I sliced a big cucumber into 'stix' and munched away. I've got my eye on the fresh egg-salad made today for dinner. Ok... Stats! Age: 51 Height: 5'4" Weight: 316.6 (last Dr visit 9/8) BMI: 54.2 Bloodwork at last Dr Visit: Glucose - 176 (I'll have to get the results off of my desk downstairs and input the rest so I can compare in 3 months) Current Medications: 9 mg Coumadin Singulair Zoloft Welbutrin K-Dur Lasix Glucosamine for the knee joint ache I have sleep apnea and sleep with C-Pap with Oxygen at night. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Two years ago I was hospitalized for multiple Pulmonary Emboli - and THAT was scary. That was what made me quit smoking! I tackled that and now I need to tackle this weight. And I was already hauling around a lot of weight when I went into the hospital. Quitting smoking added 30 lbs to that! Sometimes it just doesn't seem fair, does it? I figure this is the next step to make me live longer. Getting this weight off my body will let me enjoy my family a lot longer! "Smokefree since 4/24/2004"! |

So far today I've done quite well. My only problem is getting off the Diet Cokes! It's keeping me from getting all my water in.
Tomorrow is a new day... I'll really focus on it. Egg salad made with mayo, Dr Atkins chocolate drink for breakfast... grilled lean beef pattie for dinner along with asparagus. I can't wait fo ra few days to try out the keto stix to see how I'm doing. Went to WalMart at lunch today and picked up a tape measure. I'm going to chart all my stats. See you tomorrow! ![]() |
