Oh, Vienna, of course you're scared. . Just know that she's going to be well looked after. She's probably very comforted by the knowledge that she has such a 'nice' daughter close by with her. Dry your eyes and try to enjoy the time with your friend. I'll be thinking of you.

The day is going by quite fast. I'm leaving around 5- I have to buy groeceries for dinner tonight. I'm making bread dumplings and red cabbage for the DH- an Austrian specialty and I'm having chicken wings- hot hot hot

We'll have to eat early because I'm meeting my friend at 8:30. We're going to the Loos Bar. It's a tiny bar in the centre that fits max. 10 people. It was designed by the famous Austrian architect Loos- I believe the bar was built in the early 1900's.

There's so much to see in this city and everyday I discover something new.. It really is amazing!

Well, heading home soon. Have to make dinner and then get ready to meet my friend- it will be nice to catch up with her. I am so tired- I can't wait until this stress is all over and that my mom will be fine and I can finally sleep properly!!

I hope everything goes well with your mom's procedure! I know you are nervous for her, but I'm sure she will be in great hands!! Keep us posted, okay?
Sometimes being nice can bite you in the butt, eh? I hope you feel better! You seem like a great person to me!!!! Hope all of that family stuff works itself out too. Sometimes, you just have to say it out loud, to make it better.
Have a blast with your friend tonight!!!! I wanna come too, it sounds like a neat place!

SweetE, Kissa, Ladybug- Thank you for your support. Today has been pretty rough. I cleaned the apartment all day to keep my mind off it. I met my mom and dad for coffee a couple of hours ago- my mom brought her diamond that I am supposed to inherit in case anything goes wrong

The OP is at 6:00 in the morning and lasts 45 minutes. My dad will be there and he said he will call me when she wakes up. This is really hard... At least the DH will be here soon and then he can comfort me. I really can't stop crying. Going to go and have some wine...

How risky is the surgery she is having? She must be having it there, because the doctors are very good! It's going to be okay!
You won't be getting that diamond just yet!!! I will be praying for her, what is her first name?
Get some rest, hon or you are going to get sick.

Thanks Kissa!

SweetE- her name is Toni.

Well, technically she should be out of surgery by now. Her operation was pushed up to 6 a.m. and so she should be just about done now. My dad said he'd call me when she's awake so we'll have to wait. Now news is good news right? I'll keep you all updated as soon as I hear some news.

She's OK!

I want to thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. They obviously worked! I just talked to her a few minutes ago and she seems in high spirits- probably the drugs

In 3 days the doctor can then determine if the operation is successful. She has had hip and back problems all of her life and this operation is supposed fix some wires in her spine? I'm not sure what they do but it is supposed to take away the majority of the pain. There is still a 10% chance that she could be paralyzed- so we are not out of the woods yet but I think the worst is over. The doctor seemed pretty confident so that is the good news.

Thank goodness no one is at work yet- I've been blubbering for the past 15 minutes. It is a great relief. I'm going to go see her this afternoon which I know will be hard but I am going to buy her a big teddy bear and some more flowers. I am so grateful this worked out. These past few days have been pretty tough...

Thank you all for your kindness and your friendship- you have helped me through these tough times and I will never forget it. Thank you!

Vienna, still reading your journal; very late in time, but oh well!

When you go to the bars and parties, what do you drink? I'm amazed you can go out so often and still lose weight. That was always a problem for me.

Oh gosh, sorry. Didn't mean to post this with your conversation about your mom. I thought this would come up further back in your journal. So very sorry.

No prob Leeney!! Everything turned out well so far! I usually go out on the weekends but never anything extreme- except when I meet up with one friend

My drink of choice is a white wine spritzer- I like it cause it's cheap and also lasts longer.

Champagne is another favourite of mine but our budget doesn't allow it often.

I have definately cut down on my drinking since starting this WOE- but it doesn't seem to stall me- especially if I count it in my total carb count for the day.

If I am in the mood for a mixed drink then I would have rum and diet coke- 0 carbs so that is another option.

Red wine is the ultimate but I really have to be careful- I love it so much that I end up drinking way way too much.

Yup her name is Toni. Her father's German but she's Canadian. The name has been in the family for generations.

Well, I'm heading to the hospital in about an hour. I'll probably stay for an hour and then head home. I have a ton of laundry to do and it takes 3 hours for one load . One thing that I have noticed in terms of my WOE is that even in this stressful time I haven't gone off plan. It is becoming second nature to me and I love it!

Today I've had:

2 babybels
1 slice of A1 Cheesecake

For dinner I making Buffalo Dip Chicken- I can't wait to try this recipe!!

I have been keeping my carbs under 20 since last Monday and I am curious if my weight has gone down. I know that as I get closer to goal it will be more difficult- I just have to be very vigilante about my carb count. It seems my calories vary between 1200-1500 daily (which is fine). I really don't like thinking about it though- just focuising on my carb intake.

This weekend I really have to finish my paper!! I told the DH that he has to lock me to the computer until I finish it

I might invite my dad over for dinner tonight- at least the apartment is clean

Vienna, I'm so happy to hear your mom came through surgery safely. How awful it must have been for her to live in pain for so long.
You're a good daughter, does she know how worried you've been? Yes, have your dad over for dinner, he would probably enjoy the a stress-free evening with his little girl.
And have a nice wine spritzer!!

Well done Vienna, and so glad that your Mother is doing well.

You are a very lovely person. My daughters are wonderful too, and I wasn't the best Mum I can tell you. You can be sure that your parents love you loads. You deserve it.

Kissa- Thanks for the sweet message I'm sure you were the best mom you could be- and if you have wonderful daughters then you must have done something right!

Well, I am home now and I have just opened a 98 Rioja bottle and I am in heaven. I have no idea where this red wine came from- maybe my parents brought when they came a couple weeks ago because the Dh sure as heck didn't- his limit is 2.99 usually I finally feel at ease.

I saw my mom in the hospital- she looked tired but is doing fine. She tried to tell me some gory details but I told her that if she continued I would go all gory in her bathroom!

The next couple of weeks are going to be quite trying- I will be visiting her daily but that is what family is for.

A couple of glasses of wine will be just what the doctored ordered and I know I will sleep well tonight- it's been a while since I've had a proper night's sleep.

Thank you again everyone for your support!

I'm glad everything went so well for your mom! And I'm glad you found an extra nice bottle of wine lying around your house. It's just as exciting as finding a $20 in a coat pocket your haven't worn in a while!!! Or even better probably, because you sound like you really love wine.
Get a good nights rest!!!

Vienna,

You're too funny! I am constantly coming across money---in my hubby's wallet, hahahaha! So funny how that happens. He's always calling me a thief!

I'm so glad things are good for you right now, and that your mom is doing better.
