well, I just did my workout and I feel good. I am drinking chai tea with cream and sweetener and it is so yummy!! I think I will be having an egg fast this week. I just need to drop a couple of pounds that have been bothering me since last week. I don't like doing fasts but if I do it for one day I can survive. We are meeting DH's old friends from university and there is a spa there. That means bathing suit in front of people..! Ugh!! So it would be great to lose a couple before that! I won't be home until late tonight and tomorrow I am meeting a friend for dinner.. At least on Wednesday I can relax with the DH.. Poor him- abandoned. My goals for today:
3 litres water 1 protein bar Take the stairs!! I can do it!!

I just finished a protein bar for lunch.. I am slowly getting sick of them..
Can't wait until the kitchen is built so I can bring some real food to work!! Last night I made burritos wrapped in a low carb crepe- pretty good. Tonight I am meeting a friend for dinner at an Italian restaurant and I have to figure out what to eat! I worked out this morning and did ten push ups and 50 sit ups.. So, not bad. Tomorrow I am starting my egg fast- just one day though.. We'll see how I do.. I have to do it.. these extra pounds are really getting to me and I think I can "suffer" one day! Well, better get back to work! |

Ugh-- I had a bad case of diarrhea yesterday-- I took the day off- it was bad. Yesterday I tried an egg fast and for some reason I am up .5!! I don't get it.. It is so frustrating. I think I am just going to stick to induction levels for now and really pay attention to what I am eating. I can't believe I am not losing. It is driving me crazy.
So far today: 1 large spoon of peanut butter 1 cup herbal tea 1 large coffee with soy milk I don't know what I will have for lunch but I am going to walk around the area and see what there is. Enough with the protein bars! OK back to work! |

I just had mozzarella for lunch.. The one good thing about the egg fast is that I think it got me back into ketosis cause my appetite is gone.. I just signed up for fitday and it is fantastic.. I think it will really keep me accountable! My carbs for today are around 32 which is good- I want to aim for under 40. I was shocked when I calculated my soy flour pizza- A whopping 32 carbs for my share! I will save it for once in a while! |

Well, according to Fit Day I consumed 36 carbs.. That is good news. I really want to try and stay under 40 carbs daily. Tonight I am going to a friend's house for dinner. She is going to try and make low carb food for me.. I found that really sweet! We probably won't eat until 10 p.m. so I will need to have a mini meal when I get home. Tomorrow is our mini trip to the hills! I wish I had lost more before going but oh well. There is always next year when we all meet again.
I think I am really going to try and not eat so late. We are eating at 9 and it is not good for me to do that everynight. I think I will stop eating at 6 or 7 three times a week and see if that helps. At least today I felt a little bit less bloated and the scale dropped a pound but I am still 2 pounds above my siggy weight My parents are coming in a week! I can't believe it! I need to get my butt in gear to look great! I have come up with so many great recipes- I can't wait to try them out!! OK, back to work! |

Well, I had a fantastic holiday in Styria- one night holiday but it was great! I wasn't under 40 grams at all but hey- it is OK. I was just thinking about my old mind set and how if I went on holiday I would allow myself to eat whatever I wanted. Not this time! I have really been dedicated and that is the most important thing right now. This week I am really going to keep it clean. I think my body needs a little detox from all of the wine tasting this past weekend. Tonight I am making white castle pie or my sliced beef with gorgonzola sauce.. We'll see. I had 3 processed cheese slices. I was starving so I just grabbed it at the store. I really need to start making lunches the night before and bring them into work! I hate allowing myself to get hungry!! That leaves room for bad food choices and cheats! OK, back to work!!

Yippeee! The white castle pie helped!! Yippee! I am finally down and closer to my all time low!! I would love to be a solid 128 by Friday. I think Fitday is really helping cause it keeps my carb count down.. I was shocked at the calories though! I choose to ignore the calorie count thought- for me, the carbs are the most important!! For lunch I am having the white castle pie and for dinner the steak with gorgonzola sauce!! Yummy!!

It is Wednesday early morning I just finished 20 minutes of yoga. I am feelign relaxed and quite content. I've been thinking about the support that I have received from friends since I've been on this diet. Even diet haters are being supportive and asking me questions about this WOE. In the past when I did Atkins I hated explaining the diet to people because I wasn't informed enough. It was difficult to answer the why. Now, having read the book a few times, I feel confident that I can answer people's questions.
Another big test coming up is my mother coming to visit this weekend. She has never had a weight problem but I have always struggled with mine. Most of our fights when I was teenager stemmed from me being overweight. I really was never very fat just heavy- I think.. See, I have no real perception of myself from when I was younger cause according to my mother I was always heavy no matter what. So, that being said it is time to face my mother this weekend. Of course she will notice my weight loss, and of course I have lost weight before, but trying to inform her that this is a lifetime struggle that I am on will be challenging. I think she will try to sabotage the diet- horrible thing to say but honestly I think she will. I don't think out of malice... Anyway, just had to get a few things off my chest. Time to get ready for work! Venti Coffee with Soy milk here I come!! ![]() |

128.3!! Wow!
I can't believe it!! I am at 128.3! This is amazing! I have lost a total of 17 pounds! It is really amazing! For the past few weeks I was struggling to get into the 20's and now I am firmly there! Fitday was really a blessing. It helps me focus my meals and I am a lot more vigilant about what goes in my belly!! I can't believe it!! My next mini goal is 125.. I have to measure myself also to record how many inches I have lost! My reward for 125 is to buy some fancy makeup! Yippee! I can't wait!! According to Fitday, I have to lose 1.7 a week to reach goal on Christmas Eve- I can do it! I just have to really focus and keep my carbs around 20-30. For now that is my critical level. Eventually I will have to move it up but for now I can survive at this amount. I don't feel deprived at all! OK, time to get ready for work!!

Yesterday I weighed in at 126.9. The lowest I have seen in years. My Mom was shocked when she saw me and told me not to lose anymore weight- I think she was just being polite. Last night we had meat balls with tomato sauce and baked cheese on top- tonight I am not to sure. I just had a piece of cheese cake for breakfast
Oh well, I'll be fine. I actually am feeling really full from that piece- in the past I woudn't have been so full. Today is my off day of working out. I think it important to take a breather from the eliptical trainer. Also, during my lunch breaks I take a one hour walk in the area. It is great. My blood pressure was way down last night! I was shocked- the last time I checked it was horribly high- Another reason to celebrate!! ![]() |

Yesterday was great, spent the day with the DH- we made Halloween decorations for our party next Friday- can't wait!! There are going to be 15-18 people coming and I am going to be cooking like a mad woman! I can't wait!! Halloween is seriously one of my favourite holidays: great weather, great colours, cozy evenings, fantastic fashion!
Another change that I have noticed in myself is that instead of "giving" myself a break for the holidays- I am not evening thinking about the food. Last year I went crazy every time there was a holiday or a special weekend or whatever. I can't believe my mindset has completely altered and for that I am grateful.. I didn't weigh myself today but tomorrow I will hop on. I am sure I am little up because I haven't been doing fitday for the past couple of days- but I am ready to buckle down and really count the carbs- instead of winging it. OK-back to work! |

Last night we had a yummy dinner. I made Linda Sue's Italian Casserole.. Heavenly! So good. Tonight I think it will be MacDonalds again because there is a lot of decorating to do for the parts. My weight is up a couple of pounds today but my jeans feel a lot looser so I am not concerned. I can't wait to get dressed up for the Halloween party. I'm here and I'm alive but I could really kick myself. The last few days I have really let my carbs slide up and I not pleased with myself at all- I kept making excuses and that is fatal. I don't even want to weigh myself cause I know it's bad.. I am back and I am determined to stick to this- get my carbs down again and eat clean!
Bad me!! Bad me!! Goals this week: - eat clean and stay within 40 carbs a day - write in my journal at least 3 times a day to keep me accountable - write in the challenge at least 2 times to keep my motivation going - work out at least 5-6 times this week! I can do this!! Let's see 124 by next week! |

Well, I'm back on track and feeling great! I really need to get this weight off. My ultimate goal is to be 110 by Christmas Eve- I am really going to have to stay strong! Last night I made Asian pork balls- they were so yummy- I made extra so I could have some for lunch. Tomorrow night I am making an Asian hotpot with beef.. I am so excited to try that out. We so need to start packing for our mini holiday.. So much to do so little time. Tonight I am going to a hockey game- I am so excited! It will be great to get out and yell!

Just a few more hours of work and then I am off to the hockey game! The smell of ice gets me all hopped up!!
The DH and I are going away for the weekend and I can't wait! I was looking at the website for the spa place and was so happy to read that they serve breakfast and dinner buffets!! Thank goodness!! That makes my life so much easier!! They also have a gym! I am aiming to making this my first holiday where I come back looking thinner!! I'm also aiming to work out all three mornings and to take long swims and walks in the area- the DH will probably be lounging in the hot tub cheering me on. The last week or so the DH has really noticed my weight loss. I was changing the otherday and he said he wished he had a camera with him because he couldn't believe how flat my stomach was from the side so sweet.. I can't believe that I let myself "go". I didn't really cheat but I did allow myself to have a high amount of carbs. This is what happened last time and I totally fell off the bandwagon.. This time has to be different. I have made a committment to myself and I am sticking to it! |

Well I am only .2 over my lowest so I am really happy! I was so worried that it would be higher after the crap I was eating the last week! I just finished my workout and I need to get ready for work.. Last night the bank machine ate our bank card so the DH has to go to the bank and figure it out!
I hope our account is OK I am really zonked! IT was a late night last night after the game- went to a bar and got home around midnight and ended up talking to the DH for a while. Hopefully today will go by quickly and then I can start to pack for our mini-trip! Yippeee!! Can't wait! |

I made pumpkin pie for the office the other day and I just had a slice- of course not the crust- and the pumpkin filling was made with sweetener- so good!! No one at the office knows that it is low carb.. That is one thing that I love so much about this diet is that I don't feel like I'm deprived at all. The only tough part is walking by the bakeries- and in this city they are everywhere!! The smell of fresh bread makes me salivate but I am proud to say I haven't had any bread in over 3 months!!
New record for me. I know that bread is my biggest weakness and I think by cutting that out of my diet has been the biggest part of my losing weight. Tonight I am making hot pot and I can't wait!! Oh, I think I am going to get some cheese fondue for lunch- you can sometimes get these microwaveavble fondues at the store and then I'll dip cucumbers in it! Oh yeah! Now I am going crazy for the idea!! I hope they have the fondue! Last night at the hockey game I met up with my students and they were shocked at how I looked. I saw them about 2 months ago and it was such a great feeling to hear them say "wow". |

Well, there was no cheese fondue
so instead I had babybels and some nuts. I'm pretty full now. I'm taking tomorrow off- we aren't leaving until the evening anyway but I would really like a day at home alone.. I cannot wait!! Yippeee! I haven't had any real alone time- except at the office- and it is driving me crazy.. Sometimes I just need a little time alone in the apartment. So tomorrow I am sleeping in and getting ready for the big trip! Oh, I need to fill out fitday! i haven't done that in ages!! |

Oh man I just had the best dinner! I marinated some steaks in soy sauce and olive oil and fresh garlic. Then I made a mayo garlic sauce. We have a raclette, so we turned it on and cooked the steak slices and then dippped them in the sauce. I made noodles for the DH and I stuck with the beef. It was so good and it felt so nice to cook the food together and talk. I'm being sappy.. Oi!
