Speedy Gonzalez

Well, I was until I got married. Now it's Speddy Williams...just doesn't sound the same.

I've decided to use this as an exercise journal mostly. I need to use something to keep me accountable. Here are my exercise goals:

Exercise 5 days a week

Rollerblade for a full hour vs 1/2 hour
Use dumbells
Crunches everyday

I'm getting serious starting Monday. I don't exercise on Sunday

Off to a late, but good start

Monday was a huge flop I woke up late, and I made excuses not to exercise at night.

However, today I got up at 5:20 and I got over to the park by 5:30. It was so nice outside. I got my blades on and skated 7 1/2 miles. At least I think that's how many. I haven't seen any signs saying how large the track is, but I know it's bigger than 1 mile. I'm going to guess that it's 1 1/2 miles. I skated around 5x's. One side of the track is pretty steep.

I also did some standard & bicycle crunches...woo hoo

The last time that I skated and on a LC diet, I was so dead tired before I should have been. I'm considering allowing some low GI grains into my diet before and after a long skate. Hmmm...I guess I then would have to change my WOE to "my way".

Wednesday

It's almost 5:30. I'm off to the park again. I had a small bowl of old fashioned oats. Wish me luck!

It was another beautiful morning out there. I did 6 laps. I wasn't being extra careful about my form, so I was near blisters by the end. Weights tomorrow.

My stomach was so bloated most of the morning from those oats. And you know what? I didn't have a ton of energy like I expected to.

No more oatmeal. Sigh.

Another low carber told me what she eats pre/post a workout. I will get this right!

I'm going to eat protein b4 my next skate and compare with today's energy level. Testing...testing...1,2,3.

Thursday

I set my alarm for 5, but I turned it off and laid back down until 6:30. I have to be out of the house by 8. I should be lifting those weights right now instead of being on the computer...

Alright (sigh)

I went to bed at 9 and woke up at 5:30 this morning. That's quite a bit more sleep than normal, but I've developed a sinus cold that wares me out. I was a little slow moving, but I did break out the weights and did upper and lower body.

Tomorrow is a skate day.

Oh man, I changed my avitar, and it looks like I have no nose! Ha ha...too funny.

I had a strawberry soy shake b4 I went to the park to skate this morning (hot at 6:30???). It was a little disappointing because I could only get two laps in. My sinuses were killing me. Oh well...I guess it's better than nothing. I've been writing what I eat in a small composition notebook that I can carry everywhere with me. I'm not writing carb count, but at least it's keeping me from cheating.

Prayer and Bible reading haven't been mentioned at all in my previous posts. I was slacking off by putting myself first and not taking time to do these things. How selfish would it be to ignore someone dear to you every day, and yet I have been ignoring Jesus...how selfish of me. I woke up at 5:30 and it was a little tough to submit this morning, but I did (even though I had to sacrifice going out for a skate).

I'm planning on getting up a half hour earlier tomorrow.

Lord, please give me wisdom. Draw me closer to you. Help me to be the Christian, wife, friend that would glorify you. Let your desires be my desires.

The ground was wet this morning which means no skating. DH and I took some friends out to Red Robin last night. I had a chicken salad. Afterwards, we were standing in the parking lot talking when all of a sudden, the wind started blowing really hard. There was a lot of dust in the air. You could see lightning striking all around us. When we got home, it was even worse. The lightning came closer and it started to rain. It was so bizarre because it was so sudden.

A friend is playing softball tonight. I am bringing my skates in hopes that it doesn't storm again. We'll see.

Exercise has been non-existant this week. I have been running around at work taking things here and there trying to walk as much as possible, but taking an hour out of the day to exercise hasn't been happening.

I set my alarm time for 5 am, but I didn't pull the lever over. Doh! I even woke up because I was having a strange dream...looked at the clock which said 5:15; thought nothing of it, and went back to sleep until almost 8!!! By the way, I need to be out of the door by 8:20 at the latest.

I have been eating on plan, so I'm not gaining any weight.

I'm so glad that the weeking is near. I've been surfing Linda Sue's recipes. I'm planning on making a few on Saturday so I'll be set for the week. Planning is key.

I just subscribed to the "video vixen" thread. Hopefully, it will get me motivated to alternate skating with the dvd's and vhs' I have. They seem like a nice bunch of gals.

I really should purchase a scale. I am so cheap though. I know you can buy a $10 scale at either Wally World or Target, but I'm weary that they won't be accurate. I guess that I should just bite the bullet. Maybe next paycheck.

My hamstrings and quadriceps are so sore today from using The Firm Body Sculpting System's express total body shaping dvd.

Luvmykids inspired me to post my measurments since I don't have a scale. So here are the currents:

L arm 12"
R arm 11"

chest 36"
waist 30"
hips 44"

R leg (upper largest part) 28"
L leg 27 1/2"

R knee (quad) 18"
K knee 17 1/2"

I had my alarm set for 5 this morning. Our phone rang at 4:45. It was the WRONG number! I think that because I was thinking it was an emergency with the family or something, I couldn't get my body to go right back to sleep. I just laid there. I should have woken up right then, but instead I reset my alarm for 6:45.

I still plan on getting in a workout before the end of the day. The video vixen challenge has me motivated.

I FINALLY got up early again. 5:30. No wrong # calls this morning. Hee hee.

After waking up and praying, I did FFS Hips, thighs, buns & abs. It was really fun. I like the Firm series a lot.

Oh...Aunt Flow decided to visit today.

I love the fact that cramping and bloating are almost non-existant with this WOE.

Because of who I am and what I beleive, I MUST post this in hopes that someone who wants to hear it can know 100% sure that they're on their way to heaven when they die.

5 Things you must believe, 1 Thing you must do:

1) The Bible is God’s word.

1 Tim 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction of righteousness.

2) Jesus is the God of the Bible.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

John 14:6-9
Jesus saith unto him; I am the way the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. If ye had known me, you should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip said unto, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus said unto him, have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

3) We are all sinners or disobedient to God.

Romans 3:10
As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

4) Because of our sin, we are separated from God.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all man, for that all have sinned.

5) Jesus paid for our sin by dying on the cross, and rising from the dead that we might be reunited with God.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The one thing we must do…

Call on Jesus and receive what he has done for us

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

If you’re not sure what to pray, pray this prayer…

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know that the Bible is your word. I know that you are God. I believe that you died in my place to pay for my sin. I know that you rose from the dead proving that you are God. Right now in the best way I know how, I’m calling on you to be my Lord and Savior and God. Thank you Jesus for dying for me. Help me now to live for you. AMEN

The time is at hand. No one is guaranteed that they will live one more day. I beg you to trust Christ as your savior today.

Woke up at 6 today. I had to run to the store at 10 last night. I got back at 11 but couldn’t wind down until 12:30.

I wanted to skate today, but dreaded the thought of getting myself skate-ready for the outside world. I almost decided to throw the idea of exercising away all together, but then I thought of the Video Vixen thread that I’m subscribed to. I had the time, so I put in The Firm-Jiggle Free Abs. I was done in about 30 minutes. It would have taken me 15-20 to get ready to skate. Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE skating. I will always skate. Right now, whatever motivates me to get exercise is what I’m going to do. I am definitely going to make myself get to the park and skate on Saturday (early of coarse).

My office is celebrating a birthday today. Normally, people include meats or veggies. Not today. It’s pastry galore! My work allows United Blood Services to come to my hotel and set up their station. I went and gave, and when I came back I caved and ate half of a raspberry tart. Was it good? Yes, but as another poster’s sig says “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels”. SO true.

I got some support from my gals in the Video thread. I’ve picked myself up, dusted myself off and I’m set to forget.

Hi there! just thought I would pop in and snoop around your journal!

I admire anyone who can do (and stick with) the Firm workouts. I am not so much into that kind of torture.

Hey Heather! Snoop/post as much as you want.

I enjoy the FIRM. Maybe I'm a glutton for pain.

The dvds and equipment I have from them were given to me by my mother. She purchased them for herself, but gave them to me after she had moved on to something else. Since I live in an upstairs apartment, I can’t really get into doing the cardio dvds. Too much jumping around.

So I saw that you had an elliptical. That’s cool.

Yes, jumping in an apartment would not be so good. We lived in one a few years ago, and I did Tae-bo regularly. Fortunately, the unit directly under us was mostly empty during that time.

Yes, I like my elliptical, but I am taking a break from it as I learn that new program I am into. Mostly I like walking, but can't leave the house because I am riding herd on 4 kiddos who can't stay home alone, yet.

I never really got into jumping/jogging type things because my joints don't appreciate it. And I can't find a cast iron sports bra.

But I really admire people who can do it and enjoy it as well!

I almost never get headaches. I woke up with one this morning, so I went back to sleep instead of exercising. I'll either do a video or free weights tonight after work.

Sometimes, when my sleep is interrupted just before I officially wake up, I will get a headache. I read somewhere that it has to do with the phase of sleep you are in when it happens. Something like a 15-30 minute nap is fine, but after that, the body enters a point where, if you wake up, the chemicals that have been released will cause a headache. I don't understand it, really, but it seems to be true for me. I usually don't take naps because of this.

Hope you aren't actually sick
