Nini's Life and Low Carb Diary
I'm back to low carb again .. started at dinner yesterday. It was great. I had baked chicken wings with stir-fried brocolli and snow peas. For health reasons (and tired of being overweight), I figured there's no time like the present so I may as well begin with my next meal.
To give a brief history, I lost 35 pounds on just over three months on Atkins in 2002, and have been trying to duplicate and go beyond that success ever since. I've had lots of false starts since then and even ventured into low-fat land. I wanted to do Atkins again but decided against it. I have this umm .. problem. Without giving TMI, let's just say that I have problems with my inner plumbing that gets really irritated if I don't get lots of fiber in my diet. So I am allowing unlimited veggies. I must say, I forgot how great the house always smells with all the different things I cook when I am on LC. When I'm not on plan, I just grab the nearest packaged product and throw it in the microwave - no effort, no home-cooked smells. I had a rump roast in the crockpot overnight, mixing in with the smells of the chicken. This morning, bacon and eggs. Mmmmm!!! I weighed in this morning at 266. Two pounds down from my all-time non-pregnancy weight of 268. I will measure tomorrow and post the frightening results. As far as sizes, shirts are 26/28 and pants are 24. Be back later..

Uh oh ..
The sugar demon is growling. I'm so use to having something sweet after each and every meal. Breakfast was delicious and very filling, but I'm getting those annoying cravings. It's insane. I'm chugging water right now, trying to think about other things. I will not give in! |

Breakfast went off well, except I added another slice of bacon and two small sausage patties. Very tasty. I'm really looking forward to some serious appetite supression. As you can see, I eat loads!

Well, the day has been going well. I had a different lunch than planned. It was shredded rump roast made with taco seasonings, green pepper, garlic, and onion on top of lettuce with a sprinkling of cheese. It was delicious. My boys ate it with me, so I had to get a second helping.
It's time to do my workout cuz I've put it off long enough. I really don't want to do it. I really like Walk Away the Pounds more than any other exercise I've ever done, but I still hate exercise. It doesn't take much exertion to get me sweating, I do it so much naturally - even in the winter. So to purposefully make myself sweat just really annoys me. I gotta do it though, so here I go... |

I did it! I did the 1-mile super challenge instead. The kids want to go out and play for a bit.

Starting the day off feeling pretty good. I have to go to a lab to have blood drawn before I head to work
Speaking of this doctor, I'm not too impressed with her. The first time I saw her, she leaves the room 4 times without explanation. And she's asking me questions as she leaves out the door. Not cool! I could have forgiven that, we all have off days. But then she seems very indecisive about treating me - leaving it up to me as to what I'd want her to do. I had a nasty sore throat for two weeks that kept getting worse. She says, Well, I could either take a culture or just treat you. Hmm .. which one would you want me to do?? At this point, I'm not feeling very confident about this lady. My feeling is, you're the doctor. As my doctor, if I tell you I've been having a bad sore throat for two weeks and it is starting to get worse, you should be like, "Okay, this has gone on long enough, let's do a culture and get you some meds". Not this indecisive, "what do you want me to do" crap! It gets worse! For the last several months, I've suspected I may have sleep apnea. I often wake up gasping for breath, and am always very tired, never feel rested no matter how many hours of sleep I get. Big indicators for sleep apnea. This quack suggests that I find my own sleep center and have them contact her for a verbal referral so that my insurance will pay! Needless to say, I was not in a good mood after this appointment and I've been debating switching doctors ever since. I'm willing to give her a second chance though, like I said we all have our moments. So I get the blood work done and will go see her again and if she gives me the same vibes, this chick is through! Anyhow, it's time for me to wake my little men up. I'll post again later. |
