simtas's wedding countdown journal
Hi all,
I'm a 28 year old from England and I have just under 10 weeks until i get married! I started low carbing about 3 weeks ago and have so far gone from 172 pounds to 162.5 pounds I'm sooo happy that ive found low carb, i have really struggled with my weight for about the past 7 years (doing the "low fat" thing). I have found out in the last year or so that i have Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which gives me huge sugar cravings/appetitie, a enlarged aortic root from having marfan syndrome and an underactive thyroid. Thankfully, im medicated now for my heart and thyroid and feeling better, however up until 3 weeks ago the sugar craving and weight gain still persisted. Since i have gone on to a low carb diet (50g per day) they have pretty much disappeared along with my ever ravenous appetite I can't have dairy, soy or nuts as i am intolerent to them but have been managing the l/c diet fine without them.I can at long last see light at the end of the tunnel! I will be slim! I'm the only overweight person in my immediate family and was dreading the family photos at the wedding with them looking all slim and lovely and me very chubby! Im also really looking forward to fitting into the drawer full of size 12 (US 10) clothes i have that i once fitted into! Long live low carb!! simtas x 5 foot 8.5 inches tall Start weight 172 lbs (12st 4lbs) Week 3 162.5 lbs (11st 8.5lbs) GOAL 140 lbs (10 stone) |

Wow, i cant believe how easy this is! Having been round the dieting block many many times and failed miserably each time within a month (and a lot less!!) this is remarkably easy!
Had the day away yesterday visiting my brother whos in the RAF, it was family day at the airbase. I was cleverly prepared and took a tuna and avocado salad with me so i would have something to eat at lunchtime. Wasn't planning to stay for dinner but we went to the mess with him and i chose roast chicken and veggies followed by strawberries, positivly saintly! In the past as its a buffet style thing, i would have piled my plate high with lots of different things (all naughty carb ridden stufff!) but i had self control! So weighed myself this morning and am now 11stone 8 lbs (quickly doing the maths works out at 162 pounds!). It has taken pretty much a week to get back into ketosis and get the weight loss going again since my slip, i average about 1/2 pound every 2 days, which does me fine! I have turned into a daily weigher, but i only ever weigh myself at the same time (first thing in the morning), as weight varies too much in the day due to food, bodily movements etc. I find it really helps me stay on track and get the old motivation going! Its my hen do next weekend on sunday as well as my fiances stag do on saturday, and our joint 'Hag do' (get it?) BBQ on saturday evening. The Hag BBQ is happening at ours so neeed to get the garden looking nice. Just hope its nice weather, oh the joy of living in unpredictable england! My friends are sending me off shopping with my mum on the saturday whilst they get the BBQ ready (i think there may be a few surprises in store for me and simon!). So me and my mum are going to get the material for my wedding dress hopefully from Tunbridge Wells, if not (don't have any i like), it will be a case of having to head into London which is fine but its a whole day gone and with work and getting the house ready for the wedding (we're having it in our garden) I have got too much to do! But i'm a great believer of it will all sort itself out in the end! Going to have my breakfast now and a cuppa tea whilst watching season 3 of Las Vegas, a truly fab TV series with the rather lovely Danny McCoy! Have a great day all, until next time, au revoir! |

11st 7lbs (161)!!!!!!
Woohoooo I love Low carb!!!!
Overnight i have lost another pound!! Its strange i seem to level out for a couple of days and then lose a pound overnight! Menu for today: b: slice wholemeal toast, butter, egg and bacon l: lettuce, toms, tuna mayo and spring onion, pepper, hummous and avocado salad. Followed by a nectarine d: smoked trout and steamed veggies (all for less than 50g carbs!!) So i'm very pleased!! At this rate i shouls reach my goal by the wedding! A builder is coming today to price up for laying a concrete base and patio in the building that is going to become our marquee. We are running a little short of time now!! He did say on the phone that he could start next week which would be fab! Just found out also that England are in the semi finals of the football world cup (soccer to you guys!) Unfortuently it clashes with the "hag" BBQ, but we have a cunning plan, we are goning to set up simons big projector and sound system in a tent we have so can all watch it as there is no way we would fit everyone into our lounge! All we have to do now is hope for good weather!Got to go going to be late for work (again) its lucky im leaving in 5 weeks, they might fire me otherwise for being late every single day!!! Have a good day all ![]() |

LOL!!!!! Its funny, i wonder what all you guys sound like also! Perhaps in another couple of years they will bring in talking posts! I have had to wrack my brains at times as to what you guys are talking about, although we all speak english there are so many things that have different words, i.e. us=zuchinni uk=courgette!!! Still going on the lc way of eating! Although i do seem to have stalled a little for the past couple of days at 11 stone 7 lbs (161), although i have realised my scales are a little dodgy as depending where you stand on them the reading changes!! But i'm also giving them the benefit of the doubt and tightening up what i'm eating. I haven't been illegal but had a treat or two i wasn't having before.
I'm finding it interesting getting to know how my weighloss goes with this way of eating. I weigh daily which i know some people disapprove of, but i find really motivates me and makes me stay on track. I find if i have a salty meal (smoked trout fillets) my body can put on 1lb in 24 hrs, so am now monitoring my salt intake more I have also found avocado helps me lose a a little quicker. I'm also really pleased with my mental attitude. I'm not cheating cos i know it takes nearly up to a week to start losing again (get back into ketosis) so am staying on the straight and narrow. i made my friend a big choclate birthday cake yesterday with chocolate butter icing in the middle and topped with two bars (large!) of green and blacks milk chocolate melted on the top and then sprinkled with a flake! Any other non-diet time i would have guzzled loads, licked out every bowl and tested it to make sure it tasted ok!!! . But i didn't, although i did have to clear up a little drop of chocolate that went on my hand!! it felt rather liberating! Just need to up my exercise a little more now, i'm doing hand weights and trampolining when i can squeeze it in, but have decided to become more regimented with my exercise from now on as i know i speeds up my weight loss. must go, am in bed and OH is moaning for me to go to sleep, oh how the worm has turned!! |

ooo, just seen these great scales on the first site i visited! They measure weight (obviously!!) body fat %, muscle mass% and water% so you can tell if you have drunk enough! They are £60 (?$90) but i might buy them and not tell OH how much they were!!

No internet!! Our broadband provider has gone bust so i'm having to sneakily post this from work!! (lucky i'm leaving in 4 weeks!)
Our stag/hag/hen do was really fab!!! I'm still recovering, feel exhusted still! I didn't stick rigidly with low carb, but unusually for me didnt go over the top either, i think i ate like a slim girl!!! I weighed myself monday morning and had put on 1 1/2 pounds. So got straight back on that low carb wagon, this morning i'm back down to 11st 6.5 lbs (160.5) I had got down to 11st 6 (160) on friday. So i dont think that is bad going. I also bought myself a fab little outfit on Saturday which is a bustier top and a fitted skirt. The skirt fits but i'm about 2 pounds off it fitting perfectly! I'm going to a wedding on the 21st July so hopefully it will fit perfectly by then. The best thing is i'm back in my size 14's!! (i think size 10's to you guys). WHich i am soooo pleased about. I keep trying on old clothes at home that i had put away cos they were too small, to find they fit me now! Must go! b4 i get caught! have a good day all |

no movement
Its a beautiful day here in england, very sunny and hot. Just come back from a village fayre where a friend of ours was flying his birds of prey, i got to fly an indian eagle owl called froggit!
Well its been a challenging few days lc wise. I think i came out of ketosis last weekend and since then the dreaded sugar cravings have returned!! I have been fairly good but i think part of it is diet boredom, i have had my fill of salads!! So today i'm back on track. I'm possibly having an indian takeaway tonight, chicken shaslik or i have some low carb thai curry sauce which i might have, it shan't be involving salad though! Fortuently, despite the slip ups, i am maintaining at 160.5, although i have noticed that my belly is a bit more bloated, it had gone right down!! So back on the straight and narrow, can't wait for ketosis to kick in so these horrible cravings disappear! My goal is to be 154 (11 stone) by the end of the month, so 6.5 pounds to go! We have decided to go to hawaii for our honeymoon for 2 weeks and then onto toronto for another week where one of our frinds live, which is even more of a motivational factor, me having to bear all in skimpy summer clothes/swimsuits! Wish me luck! |

Into the 150s!!!!!
Hurrah, the weight has started shifting again, i am now 159.5 pounds!!! I'm pretty sure i'm not in ketosis as i feel hot a lot of the time, where as when the weight was flying off i felt permenantly cold! However i think my stomach capacity has shrunk so i am eating less anyway which means i have lost another pound!! My next goal is to be 11stone 4 pounds (157lbs) (currently 11stone 5.5) as that will mean i have lost exactly a stone (14 pounds)!! I'm aiming to have done this by this time next week, my next goal is 11 stone (154) which i'm aiming to achieve by the end of July. I'm then away for a week with my guides and will be catered for so i need to get through that week before i can set my next goal.
Stupidly forgot my lunch today so will have to pop to tescos and get a prepackaged salad. Feeling very motivated again so nothing can tempt me away from plan! |
