SummerWind's Journal and Menus

My name is Summer and I'm following the Atkins weight loss diet. If this journal helps anyone in the future it will be worth it.

I started Atkins years ago but always got caught up in the idea of tweaking things to make the weight loss go faster. I now realize I must just stick to plan and never quit.

This time is different because I have promised myself to do Atkins ... period.

I will stick to plan for 1 year and then see the results. I know this may sound like a long commitment to some but I think it is just giving a change of life a fair chance.

Here's to gaining a life.

Yesterday's menus were:

Breakfast:
3 scrambled eggs with
3 slices of pre-cooked bacon
12 ounces of Diet Dr. Pepper
1 One-A-Day Carb Smart
1 500 mg L-Glutamine

Lunch:
2 Talipia Filets fried in
1/2 tsp coconut oil and breaded with
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Supper:
2 fried eggs with
4 slices pre-cooked bacon
12 ounces Diet Dr. Pepper

I don't usually have the same supper as my breakfast but it was a long work day and the easiet meal I could think of to fix for my family was breakfast. So everyone else had biscuit with gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs and bacon. Sometimes I just have to do what I have the energy left to do. LOL They didn't seem to mind.

Thanks Kathy. I appreciate it.

Yesterday I worked hard. Even though it was a day at home, our laundry looked like it was going to avalanche so I did about 8 loads! I feel like the old joke's punchline ... "and boy are my arms tired" ... lol.

Yesterday's menus:

Breakfast:
2 scrambled eggs on
1 piece of low carb bread spread with
1 tbsp mayonnaise

Lunch:
10 ounces of pork spareribs covered with
1.5 tbsp KC Masterpiece low cal/carb bar-b-que sauce

Dinner:
1 baked porkchop with
garlic salt seasoning
3/4 cup green beans with
1 tbsp butter and
garlic

Total counts for the day were 959 calories with 19 carbs and 5 fiber ... for a total count of 14 carbs for the day.

I find it interesting to note that eating low carb has actually resulted in eating lower calorie. You would think it would be different with all the 'fat' I eat. But all things considered, I think I'm eating less all together. I'm just not that hungry. But I still crave chocolate.

Think I'll make some of my Chocolate frozen treats today. I usually can eat 1 of those a night and it will take care of that craving.

Til tomorrow!

Kathy, I am having the same thing happen. And when I do get hungry I've started just eating proteins (mainly) and my hunger is staying REALLY low. Thank Goodness! Hurray! I need ketosis.

Long hard weekend. I'm glad it's Monday. I have to start cleaning the garage today. I'm sure it will take a while for me to complete because I'm NOT doing it all at once. Anyone else think it is not fair for Mom to clean up where she NEVER goes. grrrrr. I've waited on the men in the family for a couple years but my pleas have gone unheard. I guess I'll have to do something because my patience have worn thin. Maybe just a little at a time will get it done without me having a break down??? LOL

Weight Loss lately ...

I am getting a bit frustrated these past 2 weeks. After a big whoosh in weight loss I suddenly gained a few pounds and have been struggling with them ever since.

I'm going to keep to plan for about another week or two, but then if nothing changes I will have to find a way to shake things up. Maybe restrict carbs or calories or fat??? Hopefully I won't have to resort to anything.

I'm going to go and read the book again to see if there is anything I am missing. As much as I weight I should be able to lose.
